What a shame...

Wow!! What an irony!!!

This is not the first time that we see misuse of power, that is the mindset we are brought up with generally barring a handful.

Lalu Prasad Yadav praised the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) ....TOI

NEW DELHI: In a damage control exercise, two days after his parents-in-law were caught travelling without tickets on a train in Bihar, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday praised the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) saying it should be a lesson for others travelling without tickets.

"The prompt action taken by the TTE with regard to my parents-in law is a matter of pride for us (Railways). His bold step to immediately charge money from them is commendable....It should be a lesson for those travelling without tickets," he told reporters.

He was addressing the media after IRCTC and ICICI signed a MoU at Rail Bhawan for extending the sale of e-tickets through merchant establishments located across 125 cities all over the country.

The Railway Minister admitted that it was a mistake on the part of his parents-in-law but added that it was quickly rectified as they paid money for their AC class travel.

He was also critical of the media saying what they wrote was in "bad taste", but "we have to digest it".

Shiva Prasad Choudhary and his wife, the parents of Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi had on Monday boarded an AC first class coach of Darbhanga-New Delhi Sampark Kranti Express.

They were allowed to continue their journey after tickets were issued to them on AC first class fare.

What all Could Happen?

I hope it is not another political stunt to get political mileage in a degrading popularity situtation by a smart politician. Politician can do a lot of things to get advantage. While we might be praising the Rly Minister for his appreciation of TTE, who knows what is actually behind it.

Another thing is the life of this man itself may be in danger. If he genuinly did his duty without favor or fear, then he might be a sore item with the ruling group. Any harm to his life could result in a politicat vidictiveness against the Rly Minister and his political party. Thus it may be in the interest of the opposition to harm him.

I may be looking a bit sceptical or speculative, but any thing is possible in our political environment. I hope it was a genuine call of duty and the guy did perform it without favor and fear. And the reaction of the Rly Minister is genuine and honest to praise him.
