Dear Jatland members
Our Leh road trip for 15 June 2006 is all set. Members of the group now are
Navin Gulia, Khushi Gulia, Sunita Hooda, Rajiv Virat, Ajay Yadav, Jitender Mehta, Vikram Rohella, Harsha Koda and Prabha Koda
We have space for 2-3 more members. If any one is ‘more than interested’ kindly contact me. Points to be kept in mind 1. It is an adventure trip not a leisure trip. 2. Average cost contribution per person could be around 12-13000rs 3. The trip has been planned for eleven days but could extend two three days due to snow, landslide or any other reason.
We are going to video document the route/journey.
15th June - evening 5pm start from gurgaon
16th June - morning 7am Manali - full day rest and recovering in manali
17th June - 3am start - climb to Rohtang Jot (ht 3978mtrs) - enter Lahol & spiti valley - tea/breakfast at Khoksar the first village - driving along chenab river to reach Darcha the last village of the valley on banks of Barai Kade River - climb Baralach La at 4892 mtrs and descend to reach Sarchu. Night stay at Sarchu (in tents).
18th June - early start from Sarchu - Lachlung La (5065 mtrs), Nakee La, Pang (food), Moray plains, Tanglang La (5360 mtrs 2nd highest motorable pass in the world), enter Leh valley, stop at Leh.
19th June – Visit Leh Palace, monastery, Indus River, rest
20th June - Drive to Pangong Tso
21st June - Drive back from Pangong Tso
22nd June - Khardung La 18,380 ft Highest motorable road in the world, Nubra valley and back.
23rd Leh to Sarchu
24th Start from Sarchu and Reach Manali
25th Reach Gurgaon
We may have to add 2/3 days as cushion in case of any unforeseen need.
