Building is a GERUND in English

Gerund depicts DYNAMIC , non finite , continuous....

Incase building(structure) it can be extended.
As and when required-Dynamic


The gerund is identical in form to the present participle (ending in -ing) and can behave as a verb (building a PHP 5.25 website ) ( Dynamic website not a STATIC one)

The clause as a whole (sometimes consisting of only one word, the gerund itself like here building) acts as a noun within the larger sentence.
