Fellow Jat friends
Well I am new to this site and was told by CH.Vinod Kulhari about this site. I would like to congratulate the founder of this site and hope more and more of us read and share our knowledge and experience with our fellow jats and jatani's. I have sent emails to few of you and got good response from them. As a matter of fact i am meeting one family in Atlanta this week end.
About myself i will say that i am in usa been here now over 23years. Rest introduction will leave to fellow jats who know me in usa.
I have been reading with interest some topics and would like to give my opinion which is my own only regarding education institutes some of our friends are trying or have opened. My congratulations to them. But some of u who are interested in something like that i think we donot need any college's or school's there are more then enough of outstanding education institutes in India.
The focus should be on how can we create jobs for our fellow jats in India and how can we help fellow jats to improve themselves in fields which have future. So it would be appropriate to open institutes which train for jobs and give priorties to jats in such training institutes so they can get employment and dont have to go and get shifarish for getting jobs. These fields should be highly specialised ones and thats where we can make a difference to get our younger generation to get ahead of others. Right now i can predict the future growth is going to be in biosciences and this field is going to explode in next five to ten years the way software industry has done in last 8 to 10 yrs. this industryi mean software atleast in usa is going to take a while to recover. So let the youngesters know if they can do bioengr. thats what they need to do.
More next time. And lets not make a point to talk in hindi or harayanvi or english. whoever feels comfortable to express themselves in the language they prefer should be accepted.

Dear Shri Baljit Singh Ji,

I totally agree with you that we must get into very high tech areas like BioSciences etc. Rural economy being agrobased, this makes perfect sense. Problem of rural areas are many like lack of infrastucture, quality education, sanitation, clean water...The problems have accumlated as there has been no investment from any goverment or private party over 100s of years. However, I see some rays of hopes now as opportunities in cities are shrinking, civic infrastructure is bursting. With the improvement of transport facilities, villages are no more distant as they used to be from big cities. It makes perfect economic sense now to make large investments in villages. I am sure we will see a trend in this direction in coming years and many of us who have some resources and know what exactly is required, will be making such investments.

I will try to get more information on this. But of as i have little knowledge i can share with u.

Bioengr. its more realted to making of devises of medical equipment and also in near future trying to make body organs. other field of interest as follows for usa purpose.
Nurse i am yet to hear any jats in this i am sure there might be some . big shortage in usa .
teachers- maths and sciences there are some states which are directly recruiting these days from india . though not a very high paying but gives an oppty to come to usa and atleast make a good future for their children.
Molecular genetics quite high demand and another field thats is exploding.
genetic engr. will be in good demand as time goes by. the idea is if we can get our young high school children to go in this direction it will be much easier for them to get visas for studying in especially biomedical engr.

i cannot agree more with u yes we need to look into it and i do have many thoughts of what to do for our jats. I have helped many to get jobs but unfortauntely most of them didnot stay for long and these are boys from villages who have not studied beyond high school. The primary reason is they think they have land why should they work in private sector as they are very demanding in work ethics. Sad part is not easy to get them jobe in govt. sector and they donot care and i have seen there parents not happy with that situation but they cannot get them to do farming either since they think they are educated they dont want to do farming. Sad but true in many cases i know of. The day we find a key to make our people understand that work is worship no matter what one does we will be the most progress commnty in the world. By nature jat is very hard working person and i mean jatni's too. I want to end with small observation i have had for so many years. when a jat separates in the family the land is divided in half say there are only two in the family.and very rarely does he increase that land. however, if a bania separates his one shop gets converted into two. so they multiply there profession where as we reduce our professon holding. i hope u got my point what i am trying to say.i will be in india in jan. of 2004 and would love to meet some of u to talk in person and answere questions if u have any about usa.

Respected Baljit Ji, Dudee Saheb & Elders,

A very informative mail by Baljit Ji. The only thing that our community needs is the right 'Margdarshan'. Our children are the best in the world as far as qualities such as loyalty, integrity, hardwork, commitment and decication are concerned. Why then we are not amongst the top is the question? And this should take up our time and efforts. It is fine to be humourous and exchange our ideas but a serious effort needs to be made by all so as to give our children the most important gift of 'knowledge', 'awareness' and 'opportunity'. I have a suggestion for the elders and others who have made a mark in their chosen profession. I am sure it would be well taken, with the same spirit with which it is being made.

How about you all making sub-groups as per your fields of expertise? Let me explain. The major problem we have is lack of correct information regarding opportunities abroad (within India too). If you can form sub-groups on various subjects like IT, Biosciences, Medicine, Teaching, Services Sector etc etc. Collect important information and inform all others via this site. In doing so the nominated sub-group leader can be the contact person for those wanting guidance in that particular field. The e mail ID of the group and leader can be displayed on this site for all to benefit. This would help in concentrating our efforts. Please don't forget to form a 'Sports' Sub-group as our JAT boys and girls are naturally good in sports. I know of golf because my son is an amateur golfer. In the next five years 50% of top golfers in India are going to be JATS.

I hope my humble suggestion could be thought upon, discussed, ammended and perfected to make it implementable for the benefit of our commumnity.

I full agree with your suggestion.
There will always jobs in western world for highly quilified people like doctors, nurses, teachers, bio sciences and gentic Engineering. We have highly quilified people among us in every fields. let us get united and do joint positive action.
we have Jat associations in every country. some of us are doing good job , other are welcome to join them.

lack of fund
only talk - no action
This is what happening on jatland.
We are talking same thing since 2 years
Job
Education
Immigration
unemlpoyment
girls education
Social evils- drug- dowry etc
Unity
lack of leadership- Maragdarshan etc 22 catch
under different headings
just talk no action.
I am happy that some of us understand the problems and coming forward with positive suggestions.
but we need more positive action now.
I am always welling to join all of you for any social work and noble cause. I am doing my part through many groups and organigations.
We are also waiting to heir from all of you on these lines,and out come of jat get together in Gurgaon on 21st december 2003.

If the elders of the community get despondent then even God can't help us. If you all seriously think of the problem and put your mind to it, believe you me it will take much less effort, very little time and no money at all.

No Anil Bhai, it is not the question of asking for 'Naukri' and 'Paise'. Being a little sympathetic to our less fortunate or ignorant bretheren doesn't take much.

I am sure a lot can be done by those who have achieved success in their fields, not necessarily living abroad.

If there is one disadvantage or curse that will hamper our community for all times is the mentality of NOT HELPING OTHERS because then others may make faster progress.

Collective thinking and then implementing some thing collectiovely is a big problem and Jats are rarely known for this except in few rare cases. This is our basic characterstic and any thing we do, this needs to be kept in mind. So what is the solution...very simple...How about those of us who think they are well to do and can help the needy, adopt a jat boy/ girl from poor family and contribute for his/ her education ? Make a pledge and adopt one... Does not need great efforts or time or for that matter time or planning....

Well my jat friends
True we all talk and when time comes for action some of us take a back seat. just to let all of u know this jat at this end believes in action and talk both. talk is to get ideas and input and action is how to go about it.
Rajendar some of us are already doing what u r saying but may not be mentioning it to u. paying for education for some children whose parents cannot afford. i am more then willing to give help to anyof our jat boys and girls guidance as to what they can achieve and also introduce them to right people out here in usa. rest its upto them how they conduct themselves to get what they want.
And Anil yes it is sad how the jats have taken to paise lo. i specifically remember instructed in 1976 while i worked in a firm in India not even dream of offering any money to a jat in any govt. office. And now it has become a normal trend to accept it. I remember in last few trips people mentioning bhai chorre ki tankah to see 900 rupeeya per uper ki sae teen hazaar. now what does that amount to. unfortunately it is a task not easy to break the system so why bother with it. where we can make a difference is atleast get some of our jat boys and gals out of country so they can do well and contribute to our community. I also remeber a small incidence when my father was recuriting officer in rohtak in 1961 a man offered a bribe to get recurited in army. my father called all his staff in his office and told them what the fellow was doing they called the police and he was arrested not only that he made him pay the 400 rupees he was offering to the national defence fund and mind u that was lot of money in 1961. yes thereare I am sure as Col. Malik has mentioned people who are still honest and may help our jats but the number is not that hight in todays world of ours in our country sad but true. Sorry for this off track just wanted Anil to know that some of us will not get bribed. Helping our people has to come from within with no expectations. Its when we have expectations we feel let down in our mind and heart and quit helping again.
As i have mentioned i wll be in India in jan.2004 would like to meet some of u in person and chalk a programme as what can be done atleast by me. and if I say anyting i do it ek jat ki zuban hai joh kahdiya so kaar diya varan kaho hi quu.
I am very proud to hear Col. Malik that u r son is a golfer i would love to see him win masters tournament one day. i have a friend in chandigarh his son coaches golfers in Chandigarh.

Agree there are a lot of honest Jats around and some of them in very influencial positions. I consider myself fortunate enough to closely know some of them and my advice to them is always the same. I will repeat the same here for the benefit of all other Jats who are strong enough to be honest and just.

It is great that you are honest and strong that has it's own rewards but don't let it get to your head. Being honest is not enough there are other evils one has to guard against e.g. Pride, greed and anger ofcourse. One may be honest but can still fall victim of one or more of above vices. Yes I would call them vices because they destroy our sense of balance.

Being dishonest comes naturally and springs from sense of insecurity. Those who are not insecure in themselves do not require external assistance to demonstrate their worth to any one. When person thinks too much about material things he develops desire for them and then tries to fufill them by any means fair or foul.

The need is for guidance at grass root level and raise the level of thinking above materialism. Happiness comes from freedom and freedom comes from non attachment to maya and non attachment to maya comes from
attachment to eternal which is beyond maya. Our culture used to be very strong on this front and Jats worried more about being hones,just and truthful than being rich, dishonest and bribe takers or givers. Now we know how far down the track have we slid towards morale degradation. Each one can only be responsible for one person i.e. himself. If we can be responsible to our consious which in turn is nothing but God himself then we can change for better. Those who have reached this stage are always available to guide others who need assistance.

Do you want to be happy then be good to all. Follow the law of the land and law of God. There are no short cuts.

No i have not had the oppty to meet him yet. u might be confusing me with another Baljit he is in Kalamazoo and he is related to him. And i know Baljit in kalamazoo very well also his eniter family members they are almost close to over 60 and all in that area one of the good jat families in usa down to earth.

It made a lot of difference at that time. He wanted to send a message to his staff indirectly that if they were taking bribe and he found out he would get them court martialed.
True that is one of the reasons bribe has become a norm as people want to enjoy the materialistic benefits the fast and easy way. And i know still lot of us who a very honest also. We jats had a character and that needs to be re-emphasised can it be done yes but its a task not easy to acheive and thats all what i am trying to say. one can be as god fearing as one can and as religious as one can but when it comes time to help people he backs out and treats his own people with no respect then what good is him being that god fearing or religious?

I am pursuing my M.Tech. in Computer Science from JNU, Delhi. I have a point to discuss.
"Does education only means job-oriented and technical courses?"

My Personal opinion says it is not.
I am student in the technical trades, but I still respect the people studying Humanities are far better than us. We people only think of our careers (change it to even MONEY for ourselves), they are working for the betterment of the humanity.
At JNU, I have confronted many student, who despite having many other options open for themselves, do favour to do research in Humanities. A lot of people working on even tribal people, where generation of funds for the betterment of those people is concerned.
So isn't it better, that a student be allowed to study the subject he is really interested in, rather than forcing him with the preoccupation that this subject has more scope and this doesn't.
Further, even if a subject has better scope, the most obvious thing is that he will be facing more competetion for sure in that field.
