Love --What is Love....

Dr Sahib thanks for starting this important topic

Ahinsa (Non Violence) is Love

We should love the entire existence, but the practice of love is a big subject
We all want love but we do not love others
Role models for practice of love we find in Ramayan and up to Mahabharata time (five thousand years ago), but there is a big question mark on the teachings of later so called saints including Mahatma Gandhi Ji
Most blunders are going on for last 1000 years
I invite you all to comment on how to practice love
I will also write in detail

Harmony with Society is Love
In Yog Darshan four practices are mentioned
Maitri (Friendship)
Karuna (Compassion)
Mudita (Respect)
Upeksha (Ignore)

How we should live in society is again a big subject, you may say this is part of love, it is true and I gave a another heading for practical purpose
Again I invite comments on this and I will give my views in another post

Vairagya (Non Attachment) is Love
This is also a big subject and I invite your views
I will also give my views in another post

If any body has another subtitle other than these three, u are most welcome

Ishwar Lamba

Very well put. In the context of yoga 'yama and niyama are the basic requirements of 'a disciplined person. Yama brings discipline at social level through the five ingredients of Ahimsa (non-violence), satya *truthfulness), asteyam (non-stealing), brahmachrya (celibacy) and aparigraha (non-hoarding). Cultivating such traits makes us socially acceptable. For individual development we need - saucha (cleaniless)), santosha (contentment), tapah(austerity-hard work), swadhyaya (study) and last but not the least the devotion to god.The yamas deal with social behaviour, the niyamas determine our attitude.LOVE = Leaving One's Very Ego!

Love is interest free loan not meant to be returned. It is a sentiment beyond explanation. It is a property of the mind, not of the body. It is like God, whom we know it is there but can not be described or proved. Mutuality, sharing and caring are essential elements of love.

Love is a word which invokes the most beautiful feelings ever felt by the heart.
Thats very well said and defined in one sentence.
we dont need yoga, mediation, ahinsa, care, money etc. to define love. Love is in your heart, You just need to start feeling it.Love doesn't need any definitions to define itself.

Love is overrated .......no body knows what it is thus they consider affection , infatuation , lust , liking , caring , possessiveness etc all as love .
My opinion .....let everyone has his own definition......jiska jo jee kare woh define kar lo

Humare yahan kehte hai .....jiss gali jana nahi uss gali ka rasta nahi poochte

What Is LOVE
========
All creatures have following three basic faculties( They work at a instinct level for creatures other than humans, but human beings have potential to develop them):
1. Will: it activates body organs (Body level). It is at the bottom of the human evolution, divine will stage is the highest
2. Wish: It activates emotions or feelings (Heart level)
3. Think: It activates the brain (Head level)

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Divine Will (these are the Rishis or Spiritual masters. This is the highest level we human beings can progress. Mother nature follows there will. This is Annadmaya Kosh or Causal Body
:
::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Divine Wish/Divine Love ( These are the Sants or Saints they have purified their emotions or they have expended their love or loving all creation). This is Annadmaya Kosh or Causal Body
:
:::::::::::::::: Divine Think / Divine Knowledge/Wisdom/Discrimination ( Philosophers / Scientists operate at this level and the cannot go beyond this using the thinking faculty how much the think or read) This is Annadmaya Kosh or Causal Body
:
:
:::::::::::::::: Think (Person who thinks whose will and emotions are under control, these are the people who like mental work). it is called Vigyanmay Kosh or a Mental body
:
::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Wish (Ordinary Person with feeling domination or Attachments and Aversion). It is Manmay Kosh or Austral Body
:
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Will (Person at this level is a brute with no feeling as well as no thinking). It is called Anamaya Kosh or Physical body level

Love is unconditional total surrender; therefore it is God - just cannot be defined but experienced individually. Hence, there cannot be any unequivocal, undisputed consensus on THE DEFINITION of this i.e. WHAT IS LOVE.

WHAT IS LOVE
‘I don’t know what love is, but I can’t live without you even
for a short time’, summed it all, as she confessed, with a wane
smile on her lips, in her then faint voice, a day previous to the
night of 30th October 2000, when the cruel hand of death
snatched her away from me.

I loved her
not because I needed her; I needed her because I loved her.
I harbor the Guilt of having deserted her, more than once,
when she needed me most, to answer the call from Army.

not because I needed her; I needed her because I loved her.
I harbor the Guilt of having deserted her, more than once,
when she needed me most, to answer the call from Army.

Love thinks, not of self, but of all.

It cares not for the pleasures of sense but tests the joys of the spirit.

It is pained with others' pain, and rejoices in others' happiness.

Love talks not overmuch, but sees everything in silence and serves quickly !

Love feels and knows another's need before that other himself.

It waits not to be asked, but hastens with help betimes.
