I could research from some magazine about Shekhawati that the famous place Mandawa in Rajasthan was founded by Mandu Jat. The details could be got from the Bahi of a Baniya from which Mandu Jat brought a Stone needed for the construction of a well. People were thinking this fort place was founded by Shekhawat Rajputs.

Mandu Jat founded Mandawa village. He first established a dhani (hamlet) and dug a well here, which was completed on savan badi 5 samvat 1797 (1740 AD) (source – Shekhawati Bodh, Mandawa special issue, July 2005). Initially this place was known as ‘Mandu ki dhani’, ‘Mandu ka bas’ or ‘Manduwas’ which changed to ‘Manduwa’, ‘Mandwa’ and finally ‘Mandawa’.

I have put this info on Wikipedia with references. I request the members to place such info on Jat websites so that they become part of History.

Now my doubt is that the famous historical fort of Mandu in Madhya Pradesh seems to me founded my Mandu or Mandia Jats found in that area.

It is to be noted that Malwa region of MP was ruled by Jats and it seems possible. The nearby Ashirgarh fort has been founded by Asiagh Jats as per Thakur Deshraj.

Can any body provide more info ?

Association of Jats in America

I found details on The Jatland site about the July 1, 2006 meeting of the Northeast Chapter of Assiciation of Jats in America (AJA). I appreciate Col. Tavathia' present leadership in AJA.

While I will not be able to attend the picnic, I was thinking about how we started AJA in 1980 and how far we have come in our community. I remember our first meeting in 1981 in Chicago. We had close to 80 persons in attendance. My wife and I had driven from Texas and it was nice to meet so many families and friends, including Dr. Prem Singh Jaglan and Sh. Ram Singh Jaglan (along with several members of their extended family from Kalamazoo, Michigan; it was nice to have home-made laddos from them), Sh. Krishna Kumar, Dr. Virendra Bisla, Sh. Hersh Kumar, Dr. Jagdish Prasad, Dr. S. P. Singh, and so forth. We had a great time and elected Dr. Bisla as our president for the coming year.

I started Jat Patrika, a monthly newsletter, and distributed address lists among interested people in this country, Canada, Europe, and India for over12 years. Many friends helped paying for the cost of our activities. Persons like Sh. Ram Sarup Arya, Dr. Surendra Pal, Sh. Krishna Kumar, Sh. Baljit Singh, Late Sh. Himmet Singh, Dr. Virendra Bisla, Dr. S. P. Chaudhary, Sh. Hersh Kumar, Sh. Ishwar Singh, Dr. J. N. Dahiya, Dr. Yesh Pal Singh, Sh. B. D. Singh, and Dr. Jagbir Singh provided leadership and significant roles in moving AJA into the future. We started various regional chapters in the U. S. to conduct picnics and Holi & Diwali meetings.

In 1987, the Board of Directors met in Texas. Dr. Surendra Pal took the responsibility to incorporate AJA under an international charities name. We appreciate the help from Sh. Ram Sarup Arya as well in moving the charities funds going.

It is very gratifying to see AJA activities still going on. It is great to share our heritage and develp family collaborations and friendships.

Best wishes. Raghu Nath Singh

Kath-Mandu in Nepal may be the combination of two Jat clans? Kathia-Maliik-Kathwal/gathwal Jats and Mand/Mandu clan. In Himalayan hills we see many other places resembling Jat clans. like Garhwal? Garhwal Jats r there in Rajsthan. Mann sarorovar...........Tebat-Tebatiya???//

Queen Tomyris of persia who killed Cyrus was from Mand clan says B S Dahiya. However, perhaps what you say here is not a clan but personal name Mandu.
