Hello All,

Sushil Kumar ji have shared the success of his son who got selected in MBBS. Congrats to him and his family.

Indeed todays time is so competitive that not only the child but parents also needs to be aware of many things. Such preparations needs to be started very early and even a slight lack somewhere can cause the name in waiting list.

Samar also shared his experience regarding the same in some other thread.

So it would be a great help for those parents and students who are willing to go for this if fellow members can provide their own experiences regarding ....

1) When should one start the preparation
2) Which course like brilliants, Bansals from KOTA or some aakash institute from delhi will help.
3) What things parents needs to take care of.
4) How tuitions should be conducted.
5) I have heard that many students getting good ranks in MBBS are rarely attending schools instead they take admission in schools just for exams and attend the coaching institutes for preparation.
6) If somebody is from a family where some one is selected studying at home only then that would also be a great help.
7) One should go for admission in 11, 12th class in which state like delhi or other to have more number of seats to compete with.
8) Also the ranking of the colleges and their pros-cons.

So kindly share such information and experiences so that some other community family get benefitted.

Happy to share my experience regarding IITs:

First let me answer on the points related to my own preparations and then in general.

1) Started preparing right after class 10th boards.

2) Took Brilliant correspondence , FIITJEE regulars ( so institutional coahing does help )

3) Parents need to be able to relax their children , make them focus but not excess of focus.

4) I just took coaching from FIITJEE and nothing else , so its good to concentrate on one thing , infact i really neglected by school studies!.

5) I was kind of active in school , though would say my teachers were extremely helpful. they encouraged me to study fir IITs and also always motivated me , but still was a regular figure in school activities , it relaxes one's mind.
6) I had considerations of staying in Delhi and hence opted for IITDelhi but still feel IITd would have been my choice in any case , centrally located , capital , it helps in recruitments. though IITB and IITK are equally placed.

Now being more specific to myself and at the same time being general :
1. Never had any specific schedule.
2. Never studied for long hours.
3. Studied from wide variety of books for personal interest rather than from a short set of notes. I had good two years with me.
4. Took study not as a "bojh" but asn an enjoyment. At one time my chemistry knowledge was so good that the school teacher infact asked me to teach the class because she though i would do a better job than her. So it is important to make interests and also equally important to be in good company.
5. Never neglected sports , still remember 3 pm ( tapti dopahari mein ) cricket sessions!
6. PArents were mixed reactants , mom always asking to focus on studies and keep reminding me of goals while father was carefree and cheering always.
7.Buddies always gave confidence and support. ( Important).

Concentration while avoiding excess of it is important , good to strike a right balance depending on one's personality and taste.

Happy to answer any more questions.

Good Info Anil, thanks.

Bhai Anil it would have been better if you could start a separate thread for IIT information ... perhaps some other IIT knowledge owners willnot read this due to title.

Also I wish to add regarding centres (As I have heard of few)...

1) IITB - it is prefered most because they keep equilibirium of studies and exposure to students. They provide students good exposure and also indulge them in extra curricular activities.

2) IITK - they only have focus on studies studies and studies.

Perhaps we can change the title of thread to be advise ! and these two things can me merged.

Moderators , please do!

Regarding IITK : hmm.. yups they are considered much more studious , but there grade giving standards are also very generous as compared to other IITs so it wont be an apple to apple comparision if u compare only on the basis of grades across IITs.

I think IITD is also among the best , and there is enough exposure.

Though IITB has the luxury of being close to the financial capital of India and hence more financial jobs.
