yaar ye ho kya raha hai ? kya bakwaas hai ?

i always feel bad whenever olympics is on. 120 crore ki janta ( less 1 , i m abroad ) mushkil se 1 medal.

1 bhi nahi ana chayie aye to 20-30 aye kam se kam.

we complain abour infrastructure, we complain about poverty , we complain about everything.

a small example :brasil is the best in soccer . why ? because people love it.its their culture.

the day indians start loving every game ,which means start playing, watching , supporting etc we will start winning medals

even the rich in india doesnt encourage their kids or not interested themselves. yeah they do play 'golf' :p (for business , not as a sports)

maa-baap apne bacchon ko doctor/engeneer banana chate hai. boxing to unke liye mar-peet hai. pahlwani jaise khel log 'molad' logo ka kaam mante hai.

ik sadiyal khawat bhi hai 'kheloge kudoge banoge kharab , padhoge likhoge banoge nawab' rediculous!

schools doesnt encourage sports , lot of them just market thier board results.

wat to do ? people need to change the way they think. sports is fun , its healthy, its the way of life , its culture , its a social thing, it makes a country proud (not a job opportunity , not just for money , not because u cant do anything else...nd all those dirty profit motive things)

sports is a pure passion and not having enough facilities is just an excuse for people who just dont want to get into it. once people have passion for other sports it will definitely grow like cricket.

If u want medals start encouraging ur kids from now on. if they dont get into it ,atleast they will have this term 'sports' at the back of their heads. play with them teach them or learn from them. make it a part of life.

and avoid that 'gentlemen's game' coz everyone can play it in india we need to explore more. there is much more fun.

Fer teri kya salah hai !

Mr Dhillon
Aap chahte hain Indian sportspersons mein passion jagana! Bahut acchee baat hai. U know wht is the scene there thos ewho play they take their sports not for any career or any passion toh aap bhul Jao.
My experience says in India-
  • Jab college kee team banti hai toh koi bhee Coach ka pehchaan walla naam likha leta hai kyonkee usk ghumne jana hai khelene nahi.
  • Infrastructure ko dosh dena theek hai but for certain games do we need Infrastructure for weightlifting aur bhagne ke liye bhee nahin chahiye.
  • All sportsperson joins the practise sessions in college for eating bananas.
  • If we count so many individual sports we hardly need good infrastructure at least upto u reach a certain level.
Bhai Dhillon yeh Desh hai Veer jawano ka albelon ka mastano ka yeh toh aise hee chalega. So dont panic and keep enjoying we might have more medals still there are hopes from tennis and boxing!

Gagan and D'shikha, talking about sports and the passion(within)....I ask you one simple ques....Have you been on any formidable level of achieving any sports MEDAL...may be district, state or national ??

MAY I ask which sports did you guys excelled in...its easy to argue on million points when we belong to a 'billion' population and facilities et al....now dont just start a browl of ques on me asking what is it with your sports achievements.....all I want to tell you guys is that there is a helluva diff between actually being on that ground level and playing a game and facing the harsh realities, then reading newspaper and watching sports on TV.....

the so called sports ministry pulls out all the energy in team sports....like HOCKEY....12 players, just to get ONE MEDAL...wherein if same amt of investment and energy be laid on individual players we have a probability of bagging 12 medals atleast

Keshav Dahiya

Hi Keshav, i Agree with the following point, i was really keen in playing sports (my favorite game was badminton) but my school never encouraged it. Even though i was studying in the best school of my town and my school was best only for studies not for sports. I used to go to play with some police guys in nearby police lines, but they all played for fun and i was good everybody said that. But no encouragement from anywhere.

Agreed sir u r correct searching for medals with out good facilities its almost impossible Our dear Abhinav Bindra invested around 4 Crores on training so apart from passion and talent we need good investment aslike in cricket to get better results.

no encouragement from anywhere.

Encouragement bi wesye dekhe to ek tareh se excuse hi hai :) agar icha hai to bina encouragement ke bi khela ja sakta hai.. aur wesye bi encouragement se jyada jo cheez matter karti hai wo hai lagan or I say dedication..

Gaam maie School maie tha tab football khelne ka ghana shok tha, dheere dheer acha khelne lag gaya to interest aur jyada develop huwa.. pir to padai se jyada time football maie hi lagata tha.. kai baar to class skip kar dete the khelne ke chakar maie.. :):) but kisi ne encourage na kiya, ulti daant aur padti thi lakin pir bi na choda khelna.. I still remember ki how bitterly I was beaten up by my mother when I skipped the school to take part in a match.. Phookni se mara tha itna bura :) :p lakin pir bi nakte hi bane rehe..us din bi daant hi padi when I was made captain for my school team for the dist. level school tournaments. I kept enjoying playing football till 10th inspite of not being encouraged by anyone.. so encouragement, infrastrucute yeh sari cheese baad maie ati hai pehle lagan jyada jaruri hai.. yeh mera hi decision tha jab 10th maie number kam bane aur sare friends ke ache number aye..tab socha ki beta bhooke merega padai na kari to.. football se kuch na hona.. actually us time tak yeh bi nai pata tha ki sports maie career bi bane hai, nai to ke bera khelta hi rehta :)

Ek baat hai Gaam maie ite acha talent bhara pada hai, mehnat bi khoob karte hai, khelte time jaan laga dete hai, lakin kami hai to sirf guide ki jo bicharo ko nai mil pati.. actually school days maie to kese tese khelte rehte hail akin jaise hi thode bade hote hai to career ki tension dimag maie ghoomne lag jati hai kyoki economic condition iti badiya to hoti nai ki risk liya jaye..

Sehro maie log sports ko career bana sakte hail akin wo nikame hote hai.. almost every kid in city 100-100 kilo ki bori ho ri hai.. 100 meter bhaga nai jata unse.. sare reality show maie start bann pe jyada dhyan de hai.. aur koi ek adha koi interest leta bi hai to sirf glamorous games hi .. aise game ke bare maie to sochte bi nai ki jisme mehnat jyada karni pade.. sare fast food ke product hai.. nakali

Mannu ! yaar mai vohi to baat kar raha hu ki team me jane ki jarorat nahi apna vaise maje ke liye khelo. apni team banao.

ab australia me hi suburbs me logo ne apni footy ki, baseball ki, soccer ki team bana rakhi hai ar match khelte rahte hai. its pure fun. no money involved , no selection process or anything.

australia doesnt stand anywhere in baseball, soccerr etc , lekin kafi log khelne ki koshish kar rahe hai. its all about having passion for the sports and exploring something new.

hi mukesh wahi baat main keh rahaa hun bas maine zayaada elabarate nahin kya. hamesha yehi chinta rehti thi ki pricipal ne dad ko ab bulayaa ke tab bulaaya, ki aapka beta padh nahin rahaa. fir dad doctor the to result ke baad saare doctors puchte ki aapke bete ke kitne number aaye mere ke to itne aaye. dad ka bhi khayaal rakhna padta tha.

bahaane nahin hote support or encouragement har taraf se hona chaahiye. and according to me parents and schools really can make a difference.

Keshav ! winning medals is not an initial goal of what i am saying but it will come in the way. i am talking about creating interest in sports.

I never won any medal but i always take an opportunity to get into any sports. I play footy , lawn -tennis, boxing , kick-boxing, marshall arts etc. and i am not a class player but i can play. i know what it feels like when u actually play it. i work hard in what i play.

and i can teach a thing or two to the people who doesnt have a clue.

I support every game by watching it , trying to play it , by praising it and involving people i know. I buy tickets and watch the games. i watch them on tv (commercials pay for the game).

once people have interest , there will be players (which are not so good) and there will be supporters of the game. for e.g cricket is so big in india becaiuse people have interest in it. everyone plays it and watch it.

I am not closed to any sports and i get involved with them in some way.

Thats my contribution !

mate ! when i was in school, our school appointed a coach for soccer and i used to love the game. everyone who was interested started training.

but our school fired the coach for some reason and the whole exitement disappeared. they never got any coach again.

schools really doesnt encourage.

and lot of parents said 'itni fees dete hai padhi-lihayi baccho se karwater nahi , khele koodne me time kharab karate hai'

school me PTI ka ik kaam hai vo hai 'baccho ko peetna'

mukki ! hamara sara system aisa hai ki khelne-khoodne ko log lafandarbaji mante hai.

chalo encouragement nahi hai to kam se kam discouragement to na ho.

our country needs to change the way they think about sports. medal nahi aye kam se kam health to acchi ho hi jayegi.

bilkul sahi kahaa aapne gagan ji hamaare school mein to who bhi nahin tha. 8th class tak ek games period mila karta the 8th ke baad woh bhi band gayaa.

Jitte ! yaar it needs people like us who will be parents in future and we will definitely encourage the kids.

tats wat it needs.

Gunny Guru, Very Thought-provoking and Important thread indeed!! I concur with your words wholeheartedly...every single line makes sense here!! By the way, you explained it yourself how things can be improved! :)

Well, Volumes of pages can be written here but the most imp thing to improve is at Grass Root Level .... Parents must encourage their kids to opt for Sports and its must be mandatory in schools!

If we encourage sports at granular level then only, situation can improve! Period.

Passion!

Hmmm yah baat hai Ladke! Its all about passion and thats what created Irfan Pathan and that created Rohit sharma and Sehwag and so on. they all belongs to like lower middle class but pasion tha isliye aaj accha khelte hain.
Australians also have passion when they do it they play with passion.
Even apna Vijender Boxer bhee ek middle class aur sadharan family se hai and thatswhy he is in olympics aur bhai jo paise kee baat karte hain unko batata hoon keee Vijenders family have not spendid 4-5 crore on him but still he is in the Olympics and keeping the Jats pride.
So I agree Gunny that its all about passion. Agar facilities ka tota hai toh woh game khel lo jisme facilities kee jaroorat na ho par uske liye bhee passion chahiye.
Dont always blame the system and infrastructure u also need lots of guts.
