Movie's Reviews

Fukrey is one of those movies which wouldn't let you stop laughing for any moment. The humor is so spontaneous that most of the times you'd laugh out of surprise. It's a fresh script, thematic, and doesn't rely on one-liners to get you in splits. The storyline is compelling and witty. A story about 2 school kids who desperately want to get into a premier college despite having failed their 12th class twice (one of them failed even in 1st class). Their unique talent is that one dreams something absurd, the other decodes that dream to get the winning number of a lottery. But a series of incidents get them into trouble which is a hilarious journey, along with 2 other guys.

The movie is buoyed up with well-sketched characters portrayed so perfectly by the actors, which is a boon for the movie. The real flavor of Delhi's lower-middle class mannerism and lingo is accentuated by the cinematography that focuses on the respective areas rather than 'Dilli-Darshan' (Voyaging Delhi). The script might be silly or illogical to many, but that is what creates the humor here! It's not an intellectual comedy, but it ain't stupid as well. It's well-balanced between the two.

I give it 4.5/5 .. A must-watch.

ps- this review taken from IMDB but am in sync with toto.

Jitte I don't think besides you, anybody would ever give it a rating more than 3.5. May be the director was some Mrighdeep Singh 'Lamba', could be why you're generous.

haha.. So, I beg to differ.

I would give 2.5 overall (though in second half for some 15-20 mins, the story picks a good direction). Such a loose script & nonsensical comedy. those who can laugh on tv serial type bachcha commedy, may enjoy a bit more.

The character of choocha did a good job, i give him 4/5. Sardar 3.75/4
Hunny 1.5/5. Pundit 3.5.

Rest all avg 2.5

I loved it from start to finish. In fact, I should have given it 5/5 .. total satisfaction!
Sometimes listen to your heart as well, mate cuz' this is what makes you feel, let your crook mind rest for a change.

Total crap! I would give it 0/5. It's fu**in' political communal movie. Such a $hit disappointment!

I would give 3 (Overall) to the movie. First half: 3.5, second half: 2.5

Dhanush: has done a good job, good dialogue delivery with face expressions & body language.
Murari (Dhanush's Friend): 4.5. His role is the best & deserve a round of appluase of natural acting.

First half is worth your ticket cost.

Lucky di unlucky story 4/5.

Love story of Gippi goes wrong everytime his three friends suggest him to do something. Must watch for punjabi movie fans. Some scenes will make you ROFL.

Lootera 1/5

I went to see an entertainer made for commercial cinema but I saw a brilliantly shot, slowly developing over the top bollywood trying to be hollywood kind of story.

The story line resembles that of Fanaa minus entertainment.

I havent seen Fanaa, but I will give Lootera a 3 simply for the visuals, fitting background score and Sonakshi's coming of age as an actress. Ranveer stood no chance opposite her. I also felt the Zamindar guy also acted very well and so did Ranveer's friend the Dev Anand fan.

The story and the pace could have been quickened up though and perhaps a few more twists and turns could have sustained more interests. But its a movie for the patient movie goer.

I have seen this master piece long back and often watch it, one of my all time fav. Even Kaante is remake of it.
Aadha no kyun kha gaya, this movie deserves 5/5.
You gotta watch his Pulp Fiction, Death Proof and Jackie Brown. You'll love it.

LOOTERA' is poetry on celluloid!

This chef-d'oeuvre love story by Vikramaditya Motwane resembles a poetry in beauty and the evocation of feeling, and despite a slight ramble in the second half, it wins you over. Sonakshi Sinha leaves you awestruck with her incredible performance.

The film is set in the years 1953-54. Pakhi (Sonakshi Sinha) is a young bengali girl, living with her father, a Zamindar, in an aristocratic world. In this placid existence enters an archaeologist, Varun (Ranveer Singh), seeking help from the Zamindar with a letter from the Archaeological Society of India. With his remarkable knowledge of books, music, and expertise in his own field, Varun impresses the Zamindar, sneaking his way into the life of the family, and the heart of Pakhi, as love between them, blossoms. But soon, a shocking revelation shatters their world. Leading them to some unanticipated circumstances.

The film is dazzlingly beautiful, recreating the 50s in West Bengal. While the first half depicts the town of Manikpur, the second half takes you to the gorgeous Darjeeling. Each frame is immaculate and the setup literally absorbs you. Then, the screenplay is so engrossing, you just can't stray your attention elsewhere. The conviction with which the director, Vikramaditya Motwane, takes you through this story is simply unbelievable, especially considering the fact that he's just a film old. His deeply moving treatment of this delicious script is awe-inspiring.

A part of the film is based on "The Last Leaf", a short story by O. Henry. Not only is it visually enticing, the scenes too are aesthetically shot. Be it the father-daughter discourse, or the innocent budding romance, or soulful lovemaking, or even the gloomy turn of events, each aspect is mesmeric. The melodic music too is pleasing to your senses. The slight blemish that the film exposes is the draggy 40 odd minute amble in the second half. That's the only time it pushes you slightly towards disinterest. But fortunately, it gathers its feet as it approaches the climax, and eventually ends in a high.

Performances are the most crucial aspect of such an enterprise. A slip here could ruin the entire effort put in everywhere else. And this is where the film succeeds. Each act is as real as it could have been. Ranveer Singh is surprisingly composed and plays his part perfectly. But it's Sonakshi Sinha who's the real star of the show. She effortlessly portrays the depths of her character and brings out vivid moods with brilliant skill. She indubitably is a revelation. All other actors put up a flawless show.

In all, LOOTERA is a masterpiece that delights the senses, excites the intellect and induces emotional admiration. Do not miss it!

Rating: 4/5

ps - wholeheartedly agree with this imdb review. Lootera is indeed work of art!

Lootera

4 on 5

Exceeding expectations from Vkramditya Motwane ( I do not know how many of us know he is the same guy who made Udaan - one of must watch hindi movies )
Also it was a delight watching some long time back read school text book story on screen .
Must watch

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Storyline : 3/5
Farhan Akhtar : 4/5
Support cast : 2.5/5

This movie belongs to Farhan Akhtar. The scenes where he sprints are the best ones. They look so real. However, storyline at places feels like losing grip.

I would say, I am biased with Paan Singh Tomar as Timgmanshu Dhulia has done an excellent work with a biopic.

Overall, a one time watch.

FUKREY 8th time dekhi...still cant stop me for laughing..wat a great movie...dimaag use karne ki jarurat hi nahi...everytime u watch , u will feel relaxed....5/5 from my side...
