1) in Realty A Indian is a Indian there is nothing called resident indian or Non resident Indian. These are banking terms.

Yaar tune chhap to itna sab diya, par ek baat palle nahin padi. Tu start mein keh raha tha ki Indian is Indian, there is no RI or NRI. Aur fir end mein waapas wahi ki ko jahaan pe rehta hai woh wahin ka, India ka nahin. To sabse pehle to tu apna confusion clear karr le ki NRI Indian hain ki nahin. Aur fir apni understanding ko apne paas rakh. Kyunki tu Bharat ka passport ya PIO card nahin deta, jo dete hain, woh NRIs ko Indian maan ke bahut khush hain.

Aur teri objection kya hai? Aisa kya karr diya NRIs ne jisse desh ka nuksaan hua ho? Post #35 padh liyo jismain maine faayde bataaye hain. Apne mann se nahin banaaye. Reserve Bank of India ki site pe jaake dekh lena, NRIs ko kitni importance di jaati hai. As they are a crucial cog in the Indian economy.

But this money flows to India because of capability of Indian market to generate returns, U can compare Bank Interest rates in Uk & India, GDP growth rates, foreign currency dep. . Ye to paise ki destiny hai India me aana.

Yes, I said the same in my post. But that is true for "Foreign Deposits" and "Investments". I have separated those from the remittances number in my post. The 50bn dollar number in my post, which is 4% of GDP is "Unrequited Private Transfers" and "Withdrawls from foreign deposits", and has nothing to do with Indian markets. This is because this money is sent for the benefit of the migrants' relatives back home, who use it for consumption or expenditure. In other words, a migrant would send money back as long as he considers that as his primary home and is taking care of the people in that home.

The report whose link I have given in my post, gives the data from 1990 and shows how the remittances have always been a significant percentage of Indian GDP, notwithstanding the turbulances in Indian markets. In fact, the variation in remittances should be more linked to the world economy than Indian economy as the migrants' income is linked to world economy. While that is the case in theory, one can see that in practise, the remittances have been strong even in a bad year like 2009.

As per ur formula what do u call the persons working in Foreign MNC's. MNC also earn money from india & take that outside india, they even do not pay tax properly thats why our govt. need to introduce MAT. And also as you know most of our Indian MNC's (PSU's TATA Rel etc.) are having overseas operations there they employed their citizens (providing employment oppu. to goras) what do you say them.
Why our govt. introduce special deductions to foreign cos. in early 90's to set up their operation in India. Eb nu na kahiye ek employment oppur. er tax revenue aawe se - MNC's me 4 aadmi ki jagah ek rakhey se er Tax kitni imaandari te de se wo b tanne bera hoga bhai.

Average NRI earns almost 5-6 times of his/her counterpart in India and they are creating a huge foreign reserve for country as mentioned above by Kapil.

Please refrain from dividing people on these lines of NRI Vs RI. We all are Indian first. Everybody has right to make his living in honourable way and we are just doing it outside India.

I like those NRIs-

Who don't change their name according to the foreign country (for example, someone's real name is Anand Pal, but he changes it to Andy Paul).

Who ask their children to not to follow the western culture and strictly ask them to follow Indian culture.

Who (young females specially) don't indulge in pornography or something alike stuffs.

Who (after making enough money) return back to their homeland and don't settle in foreign country for good.

Who make it to the top most post of foreign country, as President of Mauritius Anerood Jugnauth or President of Singapore S. R. Nathan.

Who are good human being despite having settled in foreign land.

No doubt that NRI are major contributors in our economy. But that is not because they love india but because they know that they will get good returns for each Penny they put in. NRIs are getting higher interest in Indian banks than in west. This does not concludes that NRIs are selfish or they don't like india. Infact 80% of NGO's funds are provided by NRIs. Their love to Indian sports,culture,bollywood etc.etc. is a confirmation of their affection to India(Not sure about Indian though). But its hard to take when they questions RIs capabilities. Not getting VISA approval, is an exhausted argument just like RIs one. And if it is a valid reason then why dont they write recommnedation latters for those whom VISA are denied.Help them! Make them like you.

It is very rude of we RIs to blame NRIs for everything wrong happening in India. Dont blame them, its RIs who creates these problems and only RIs have to solve them. Dont expect NRI to solve your problems. Make no doubt about it that most of RIs are waiting for their first opportunity to escape from this HELL just like those who had already escaped. We indians need somebody to blame, someone scapegoat for our own misdeeds, be it politicians, System, NRIs or RIs. We are just like that Argumentative.

I don't like those NRIs who decide or decided to head abroad just because they consider India a HELL. The performance (mode of living life) of this whole world is almost same and that's why the result of whole world's life is also almost same. Generally, an average poor person in India gets birth, does childish mischieves in childhood, does sex hunting in youth, then get married and then starts enjoying the ailments whole of his life and then dies. NRIs or natives of foreign country are no different. Are they able in foreign land to avoid ailments, grieves, stress and finally death? If any person has all of his dear and near ones around he feels happy (be it rich or poor), but if one doesn't, then even a billions of dollars can't get him happiness or peace of mind.
So if someone has settled in abroad just because of this thought that India is a hell, then I am sorry to say where he has moved life is a hell there too.
This characterstic of life
'human being will take birth > then grow child > then youth > then half-aged > then old and then die,
puts the whole world in same tub. Same tub full of filthy water.
Though no one is going to employ me on billions dollar p.a. but if someone offers then I will reject the offer and prefer to live in India. As a tourist I would like to tour whole world though if I ever be able.

This topic has been कुलबुलाइंग (intriguing) my mind for quite some time, as often times then not, i see a very biased opinion(s) by many fellow resident indian JATlanders. may be it’s a kind of frustration that they couldn’t managed to make it overseas or too much attachment with their families… I don’t know… honestly, i really don’t know (pls. dont shoot me for that). as a result, they never miss a chance to crack their volley of missiles every time a related issue pops-up. be it the ‘interrogation of shahrukh khan’ or any NRI behaviour justifying racism or whatever…

do these NRI’s committed a sin, when they left home ?

(forget about the contribution they have made towards the growth of india, when they got good opportunity to show their skills/expertise from abroad).

would like to invite fellow members to share there views (… or frustration) on the subject. i would also like to know the contribution of NRI’s to Indian economy. at the same time, i would also like to know of instances where NRI's have brought disgrace to indian community by their misdeeds.

I hate silly kind of RI’s that "leaking like a faulty faucet" spill deadly venom on public forums passing holy judgment on folks (that they probably think they know very well only by watching ShahRukh Khan/Karan Johar cliched movies)… judgmental about mostly successful folks who they themselves would rather emulate at the drop of a hat (...hmmm, in some quarters quite aptly termed as ‘jealousy’ maybe?)

Then I definitely dislike, in fact pity those pathetic kind of RI’s that with their limited, narrow mindset (and “Sainik” like tendencies) generalize the whole Diaspora and in the process unfortunately very much bracket (and categorize,marginalize) a whole majority of the larger (and the much better informed/intelligent) RI populace!... [doing nobody a favor; least of all their own fellow countrymen residing, living and working peacefully in India.]

…and oh btw, I also hate cocky, good-for-nothing, lazy, and frustrated RI’s that- rather than be happy for - preach, bitch and moan freely (phokatt mein) about their own countrymen, especially the ones who reside abroad, ...just before they themselves (grudgingly? yeah right!) would head out to the local flashy new mall to buy Nike shoes for ‘junior’ who of course has to conform with the latest western outfits in his english-speaking schools (and when has to go frequent those pseudo pool/bowling alleys & discotheques with westernized/chic' friends) in order to stand up to the local peer pressure (also the one that they complain to their neighbors about, the brat who doesn't seem to listen to their cultural ‘preaching’s’ anymore….”Aare kya karun Mishra saab, yo chorra to haat sae likad gaya hai!”)… so, where’s all this 'I hate NRI's' frustration coming from, eh?...Hmmm...everything okay at home? I went through the complete thread. so much has been said here for and against the NRIs.
I have spent most of my time in India. It has been just 3 years since m in Toulouse (though I've been to US occasionally 2-3 times during my working tenure in India).
I have experienced working both in India and Outside. The working environment, the people, the facilities and all. But yes I have to admit one thing here ki jo maja, jo apnapan apne desh me hai kite bhi koni bhai! (Ib NRI bhai mere pache mat lagiyo. jo mane lage se wo e likhya se. opinions differ person to person )

Coming back to OP, let me start with a little stat. On JL only few thousand members are there (14k) and out of which active members are only around 2000. Usme se bhi kuch log post nahi dalte honge yaha per. they might just come, read and go away. So people who criticise NRIs are very less in number.. (correct me if i'm thinking erratically ) So why to bother about those people????

Now the point raised by Shailendar bhai....VISA... It couldn't be a single reason that people living in India and not able to move to other continents (Europe, Aus or America) always scold NRIs only becoz they did not get Visa! (For me its unjustice to those who really admire NRIs for their efforts and growth).Visa, I agree, can be one of the reason for some FRUSTRATED person (jo 2-3 bar fail ho gya visa lene ki koshish me ), but not the only reason. (Bhai aapka view point mere se different ho sakta hia ) Such people are really very less in number.. Ye wo log hote hai jo bahar sirf paise kamaane ke liye jana chahte hai par ja nahi paate.

Many people just don't want to leave their motherland. I can site at least 2 examples from my friend circle for that. Both rejected working in US just because they never wanted to go abroad for work purpose. And believe me they are well settled and leading a VERY good life in India.
Bhai Koi jana chahta hai aur uske pas jane ke paise na ho to kaise jaye? Lack of money is another reason for that. Is baat ke liye wo dusro ko gali de, that does not sound good to me at least. Er koe deta bhi hoga to diye jao.. apni e jabaan kaali karega

Aur kayi logo ko to bahar jaane ka vichar hi dimag me nahi aata. Wo to bus yahi sochte hai ki "re kyuker e koi naukri lag jao,ghar aale bhi raji ho jange er byah bhi ho jaga suthri dhaal"

Kuch logo ki parivarik majburi bhi ho skti hia.Though number of such people is less. Par kuch log isliye nahi jate ki unke jane ke baad gharwalo ki care kon karega.

Aur 80% NRIs desh ke bahar kaise jate hai ya kya karte hai desh ke bahar jaa ke ye bataane ki jarurat nahi hai sahayad.

Sab ek jaise nahi hote, aur sab log bura bhi nahi sochte. Mujhe degree ki starting se hi UK jake Post graduation ki dhun swar thi. But I was not able to show up the required amount in my account and hence couldn't make it. It was a dream shattered for me, but i din start abusing other people who went Out to pursue their career or studies further. I took it as my luck and worked hard. And 3 years back I moved to France for better career.
And just for info for my frens living in India I've donated some amount for a school building in my village. Bhai yaha baith ke main bilding to nahi bna sakta, par thoda contribution avshay kar sakta hu and i did that to satisy my inner soul that at least I'm doing a bit (very small though) for my country.

Abusing NRIs is something that we don't have a hold on. Jo log ye kahte hai ki NRIs desh ke liye kuch nahi karte (may be true in their thinking terms), wo ye sochte hai ki sirf paisa hi ek matr udeshay hai NRI ban-ne ke piche. 80% cases I'll agree to them. Jo log bahar taxi chalane ke liye jate hai, ya kisi restaurant me waiter bane rahte hai unki terms me ye thinking sahi hai..I'm not commenting on their family's financial situation here. Kisi ki achi hoti hai kisi ki thik thak or jiski buri hoti hai wo to sapne hi le sakta hai bahar jane ke..Jiski achi hoti hai usko bahar jaake waiter ban-ne ki jarurat nahi hoti. Er jo ghar-bar bech ke jave se dusre desh unke dhore or koi naukri hoti nahi karne ke liye.. so waiter ya kutta ghumaniya ban jave se. (I've seen few Indians here doing this crap!). And when I asked, they replied ke kuch to karna e padega bahar aake.. ghar ne pise bhi to bhejne se..

Par baki 20% ka kya? They move out for better career prospects, for better knowledge and better lifestyle. Par ye baat un logo ke samjh me nahi aati jo NRIs ko koste hai, unko swarthi bolte hai.. Un ne kun btave ke bhai swarthi sab hove hai. koi ghna koe thoda..

And lets not abuse our country also. Its our motherland and we owe our life to it. Sirf NRIs ke wapis jane se desh ki haalat nahi sudhar sakti. Sabko milkar hi kuch karna hoga tabhi desh sudhar sakta hai. And I request all members that we should refrain from using bad words about our country (this i noticed in few posts here) or our country people in a social forum like this. Its visible to whole world.

Maine Kapil bhai ki post padhi and found the sentence very much apt(i've quoted that in my previous post). Jiska jit anjal-pani hoga wo ude e javega. Na kise ke maru-maru kare te kise ki kismat badle er na kise ke toone kare te kise ka punjhad paatte!!
Isliye jo jaha hai wo wha pe khush raho.. Er main to roj tadke sanjh hath jod ke ram te sab khatir prarthna karya karu ke "Hey Ram, sabne 2 tam ki roti de, er mane 3 tam ki!!"

Just a thought......Rest 80% doesn't write here(jo taxi chalawe hai ya waiter ka kaam kare hai..). That leaves 20% BETTER LIFESTYLE NRIs with better knoweledge whom egos got hurt by some stupid remarks in another thread.
