Online dating 'good for romance'

Dating websites can give people a "surprisingly high" chance of long-term romance, suggests a study published on St Valentine's Day.

Some 94% of UK online agency customers questioned saw their "e-partner" again after the first face-to-face meeting.

Bath University psychologist, Jeff Gavin, surveyed 229 adults, finding web dating worked "for many people".
But he told BBC News that 4% of those customers who took part in the study "were already married".

Flirt Or Romance

"ONLINE DATING GOOD FOR FLIRT AND DICY FOR ROMANCE"

hey misha,
thax for all those details of different surveys but i think all those detailed studies were conducted in european and american countries and concept of e-dating is totaly different here in this part of world..i mean where we belong to.......so to say that through e-dating one will have more chances of finding a perfect match is quite dicy and risky affair. the kind of mentality with which one is grown up here, i don't think needs any discussion here..i am pretty much sure that if u log on some dating site and try to search for a indian partner...90% of guys will be acting as a female(crap, but a fact) there on that site..so for us here in india is really like dying another death (all out for no loss)and wastage of time .......moreover one cannot find out wht exactly the other person is like or wht kinda personality he contains in ward....i think once in a blue moon 1 can find a true mate on dating sites in india so for me its always a better option to meet somebody in person at the very first instance rather then wasting hell of a time on net just exchanging expressions without knowing whether the other person is really the one who he is pretending to be..well these are my personal views and i am expecting and ready to face the contra views by other jat landers.......

Hi Roopak
Thanx for telling your views.I fully agree with what you have said.
As the crimes are increasing in our cities people cannot rely even on the people closest to them.
But still Idont think there's any harm in that if you are careful and dont come to any conclusions blindly.

Hi Misha Singh,

These are very popular and working well in Western Countries. I can say this only that, it doesn't suit with our culture.
There are a lot factors into this.
1. Character is one of the major factor for us.
2. We are into mostly in close families.
etc.

There are risks involved but I believe one can make very good friends online. It solely depends on you whether you want to meet that person or just like to stay as an online friend.
I request all the members of Jatland to have their say on this topic.Write whatever you feel like about online friendship/dating.It would be great to know what jats think about it.:)

It is a risky matter

Misha ji, it is a risky matter with a success rate of hardly 10% as per me. More often than not one[specialy girl] has every chance of landing into thick soup. Casual flirting for the sake of enjoyment may be fine for some but for a serious tie up....Na baba na....It is damn frightening undertaking.

Misha Jee,

A lot people are very good in communication and some time after chatting and contructiong house in sky by him/her then a human being(specially gal) don't say no.

That becomes the first step to get indulze in all.

Its true that it is risky but how can you say that specially girls land up into trouble. These days there are lots of men/women who want to lure younger guys/girls and even your so-called friends who might want to fool you or trouble you by hiding their identity. So it is necessary to keep your eyes and mind open while you interact with an unknown person. Thanks for posting your views but your views dont really match your signature..:p

Seen...thanx for your kind words...sorry comment. What do you want to say by this rebuff dear? All the best to you with sets of eyes and ears. Do what you please.

it depends 4m person to person

Hi Misha
I think u r rite but not fully . It more depend on person to person what they feel. One can really find a gud partner but u cant b sure because we also cant deny the fact that 70% ppl hide their real identity . They come with bogus names and identities. Secondly i think atleast in our country especially JATS it is not believed to be a very nice thing . online dating can b a god thing and is sucessful also but only in western countries , our country and culture still doesn't accept it wholeheartedly.

regards
Megha

it depends on what u are looking at

I and my better half Khushi met on net. We claim to be the happiest couple on earth 14 months after marriage and dream to live several lifetimes together. We dream of bringing up our kids, we dream of growing old together. We are a perfect match (except that she likes maaza and i like coke and also i like cold water bath in mornin g and she likes hot water bath in afternoon)
We enjoy talking we enjoy silence, we enjoy our togetherness 24 hrs a day.
It is wonderful and beautiful.

it builds strong bonds between people

Hello all!
Iam proud to be a part of this website!

I would like to say that online relationships do work as you get to know a person closely though the internet.

There was a girl in my school who i liked but I never talked to her.Now after so many years, we have become good friends through chatting as we share our good and bad times with each other and it feels good to have a friend like her.I would have never known her if we never chatted.Chatting is a good way to express yourself better and so when you meet the person on the other side it feels very comfortable. This is what I have experienced...:)
Sometimes there are bad experiences though but I think it is a positive thing if you meet the right person online.

sab bekar ki bate he bhaiyo kyon apna time waste karte ho yaar :p
kaam waam kar lo kuchh nahi dhara he chat wagerah me chahe ladake se karo chahe ladaki he fokat kaam he sab

I am totally up for it

Today our lives have become so busy, we really cannot afford to spend enough time to find someone or the right one through conventional methods. This does not mean conventional methods are useless. Honestly, you never know when, where and how you are going to meet him/her. Online dating has provided us with this new convenient platform to broaden our horizons and options. We are actually fortunate to have such a medium at our disposal. Thanks to the technology our dating and socialising techniques have evolved so much. Opportunities are endless here so why not use them, instead of being pessimistic about it. You dont wanna fall behind in evolution,do you?

I agree with Amit.Everything has something good and bad to it but still we accept, then why not just be open to online dating?
