Status of the petition

Ok Friends:
We have about 65 signatures untill now; i guess we have enough American representation too which is good for our cause and i thank them for their concern and support.
I hope we can reinvigorate this today and get closer to our goal of about a 100 signatures.
Thanks to all.
Anmol.

Final Status

Dear Friends, Elders, Kids:
We finally had about 80 signatures for our united call to appreciate Honorable Chief Minister Hooda's efforts to consolidate the educational infrastructure in Haryana.
The support came from all quarters: not only jats or residents of Harayana. We especially appreciate the support from some foreign names who understand and share our concerns. I think in future we should try to have a regular interface with people who are chosen by us. And that would usher us in true democracy.
One perspective to the problems Sumit Dahiya has described could be the following: the elected people get cut off from the people which causes them (or gives them a free hand) to do what they like.
In my last contact with Col.Tewathia he had assured that the petition will be handed to Shri Deepender Hooda. I personally wish Shri Hooda all the best in his sincere efforts to provide better governance to our people. He is young and i guess it would be a good learning experience for him to understand our concerns. And we like what he and his father are trying to do for our people.
Thank you all,
Anmol.

Please Forward it to Deepender Hooda

Dear Anmol,

I told Deepender Hooda about this petition. He requested to forward it to him electronically. I however verbally brought out the issue in the meeting since I did not have a printed copy.

Thanks for taking initiative. Keep it up. See you on Jat Picnic on July 01, 2006.

Hey Anmol, what happened with the printing. I feel that giving a printed copy, emphasized by verbal request and discussion, would have been more effective. Anyway lets send it electronically.

Dear Vinod:
I am sending the login details to Col.Tewathia. I have set the deadline for may 6; hopefully after that i should be able to print it with full details and signatures.
In the meantime it is avery good idea to have a better printout (with suitable letterhead etc) and have ppl who want to attend the felicitation function sign it there.
In the meantime anyone can go the link and see the number of signatures. We have 18 and this is a little slow than expected.
Thanks, Anmol.

Nothing Wrong

Dear Vinod,

Nothing went wrong. I did print out some thing, without the log in though. At that time it was signed by 57 members. I thougth I gave it to Mr. Kundu, since he is from the same constituency. When I reached the location, Mr. Kundu told me that probably I did not give him the print out. Sorry, if any thing got messed up, it was at my end, and I am the overall fault commander.

Don't worry, I will make it a point that it is delivered to Mr. Hooda.

Anmol did his best what he could. Only thing had he just called me before I left for the function, I would have taken the last print out with 80 signatures. He did call me, but at that time I did not have access to the coomputer and hence could not print out the final petition.

Trust me, the subject was one of those at which probably a better portion of time was spent. I guess the subject was well covered and did draw the attention that it deserved including the ill effects of reservations if forced on this institution.

Tewatiaji, thanks for the clarification. I can imagine you must have been very busy in organising the event. Kudos to you and all volunteers for the successful program!

Folks:

I don't mean to add to any controversy on the subject. I think any
effort to raise attention/awareness is better than nothing at all.

However, this particular petition seems to be of a "thank you" nature.
Petitions are generally to "request" and "to raise awareness" for an
issue that is not already on the radar.

The idea for the education city came from the Hooda govt. itself
(or some predecessor). It already is in the works. Deepender Hooda
must very well be aware of significance of education, and I'm sure didn't
really need any reminding, and that too with "thank you"s.

So I am not sure of the real utility of the so called "petition" in this case.
Such an opportunity would be better served to help raise awareness
of issues that have somehow evaded our politicians.

...Anyways, just my point of view...and not to undermine any effort
taken...Good work to the organisers and to Col. Chacha for always
being on the frontline.

Dear raj bhai,

A very good thought indeed and a very valied point.

And That was done too

Dear Raj,

Yes, we know that Deepender was aware of the issue and probably there was no need to remind him about that. I guess the petition served the whole hearted support of the community on this mission that would not only motivate the government to do all that they can at a faster pace if I may say so. In brief just to remind the Govt that people are monitoring their promises.

Other issues discussed is the getting the farmers their due. I reminded them on one live incident while I was in India, when a farmer in MP was getting Rs 1 per KG for peas produced by him, while the same was sold in market at Rs 4 per Kg way back in 1986-87. That means the farmer was getting Rs 1 for working 4-5 months with investment of land, resources and time, while the middleman was getting Rs 3.00 for keeping the product for few days and selling it in retail. A suggestion was made to ensure that farmers get their price, by organizing the retail sale of their products through Farmer's societies (can be created in each area) thereby selling the products at lesser profit margin to public (will help check inflation) while giving more price to farmers for their products. A little profit should be made to finance these cooperative societies as well as to give salaries to their employees. This will also help create employment for rural youth.

Anothre subject discussed was about the control over Land Mafia in places like Gurgaon, as well as Reservations based on Caste system.

Over all I think the function did serve its purpose.

Your point is well taken.

Thanks Col. chacha. Its great that other important issues were
brought to the attention of our politicians. Hopefully, these occasions
serve to trigger them to at least pay more attention to them.

I am Happy

Dear Sagar,

I am very happy to know that this site works very well for your time pass.

It is the perception of an individual. You can call a glass half full or half empty. The truth is once two meals are available, Happiness is just the state of mind. Some one can be happy to know what some one is doing, others may be sad to know what others are not doing. But all is well so long it keeps one happy.

May be you can bring out some new issues. After all we are stale people and probably can't think of any thing new. I guess one gets rusted with age. Personally, I am a strong advocate of bringing the new and younger people forward for they bring new ideas.

Good luck to you with your time pass.

Dear Colonel Saab,
Thanks for your views. Every second mail on Jatland is about this political stuff. I think we should talk of actions , what member/s has/ve done for Caste. Two of my friends from Australia (though from other caste ) have adopted 2 kids from Gohana ( Haryana) and look after all their expenses. We should focus on where WE can do practical things and can share the same , in place of ......... thristy crow!!
No Hard feelings!!

Yes! No Hard Feelings?

Dear Mr. Sagar,

Firstly, let me assure you, there are no hard feelings about any thing. This is a forum where every one has right to express his/her views, and that is what I call a healthy discussion. Your hate or I would say disliking to political stuff, is well understood as not every subject attracts every one.

I read a lot of stuff on this site, but don't comment upon it if I have nothing to offer. Finding fault in others is easy, correcting those faults is difficult.

I really appreciate your friends from other communities adopting children from Haryana. Well that is what they thought is good for the community. We on the East Coast in US have our own Charitable organization and doing our best to help the community. I would not like to brag about it here.

We just can't do every thing in this world for we have limited resources in terms of money and time. However so long we have a desire to do some thing good for the community, it is a good thing to happen. The younger generation does have a definite edge over old guards because they do have a better interaction with media, world affairs and off course can communicate much easier. Today, sitting in Australia you can communicate with people all around the globe in real time. When we grew up we could not do it with our friends in next village. But that is how the civilization has progressed. There is not all negative with older generation. I remember, if some one shouted for help in my time, the entire village gathered in no time (in spite of having no cell phone and only voice being the means of communication) Today, we need central security system, as we are afraid that if we shout, probably our neighbor would be peeping through the window rather than coming to help. There is a lot one can write on the subject but that is not the issue here.
In brief, my views are (and they very well may be wrong) that if I can't contribute or if I don't like a subject, I really don't have to do any thing with it. I would rather not pull back some one who is doing some thing.
I know in politics many a times people don't appreciate others purely because he/she happens to be from other camp may of the same political organization. That is where I feel the problem is. That clearly indicates that we have our personal agenda before a party agenda and we have party agenda before the National Agenda, while it should be other way round.
In what ever life is left, I am looking for "Lal Bahadurs" and Gandhis in the new breed of politicians. Hope we will find one some day.
