origin of gotra

can anybody tell me how the various gotras of jats originated?
what is the meaning of their names? like chahal, mann, sandhu, deshwal, etc etc....
 
i knew about mine....Sangwan gotra originated from the name of Raja Sangu...

Sangwan is a clan or gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana in India. The present name of Sangwan Gotra came from Raja Sangram Singh or Sangu who came to Charkhi Dadri area in Haryana from Ajmer in Rajasthan after a long war between old khsatriya Jat Aryas and newly formed Rajput Kingdoms of Rajasthan.

this all i copied from sangwan's community....rest, i don't know about the origin of my other two gotras

and, i think all the history can be known from the wikipedia

sagwano ka muul gottar kashyap s.
rao NAIN SINGH dada SANGU (ch.SANGRAM SINGH) ke pitaji thhe jinka kashyap gottar thha.
inka aakhri raj 12ve sadhi me BYAWAR (rajasthan) ke lihrighram me thha.
pahle inn KASHYAP gottar ke jato ka badda panchayati raj SARSU JANGAL (rajasthan) par thha.
RAO aur SANGA inn jato ki uppadhi rahi hain.
punjab ke jat SANGA likhte hain HOSHIYAR (PUNJAB) me iss gottar ke karib 60 gaon hain.
SANGWAN gottar me piddi system chalta hain, jisse hum aapas me ye pata kar sakte hain kaun kiska dada,tau,chacha , bhatija ya bhai hain..

rightly said sir, even we've the list of 150 ancestors recorded by our grandpa....if he was alive then i might be able to put more details about our gotra as he had the great knowledge about many things....and use to tell us through little stories during our childhood

mujhe aapka ID dekhe maaloon hua ki aap Commdt. Sangwan ke bete ho...issliye thoda edit karna pada...hehe

nowhere in n e language of jat right from deep south of india to europe the word was ever pronounced as gotra, but got/goth only
 
asoka jat, thats why raely used the language called as sanskrit, in his pillar inscriptions, .....he used the language n lipi of a common man ....sanskrit was nothing but a systematic language of a common jat...vedas samskrit is bit different from that panini...ashtadhyayi... is bit different from that of chandragomin....

Both Got (गोत) and Gotra (गोत्र) are correct. Got (गोत) is in prakrat language used by common man. It was sanskratized to Gotra (गोत्र).

This is correct.

It also explains, why Jats( prakrit or comon speecg) in some texts came to be written as 'Jarta;. The r was added, when the term was 'sansritized'

it was gupta dynasty, who spoke different lnguage in court means sanskrit..

no one was there to sanskritise it, n burdakji the first sanskript inscription is not by n e jat , plz cntrl this deswal ji ...
 
me ek atharv ved chura laya tha with this akhri jit hamari, used 2 b staunch arya samaji....

but jats were little more than arya samajis....
