Dear viewers
Present day marriages in Haryana are undemocratic , gender biased and dominated by Patriarchy social values. Your comments please.

Kuldeepji,

Though I don't fully understand premise of your message, I feel our marriage system has worked well if we ignore the stray cases of dowry. All parents try to find the best match for their daughters and go out of the way to keep them happy. More than any other community, our girls remain part of their parental families even after their marriages. I fail to understand your question. Could you plese elaborate ?

What do you mean by an "undemcratic" marriage? I believe that you get to choose your partner, whether you are a boy or girl. And I think that our community is fairly open minded about at least that fact.

Am not sure exactly what you are asking here... could you elaborate?

You might not be knowing one very good point of our marriage system. i.e. We our following maximum outbreeding in community this might be one of the reason of having such a good germplasm in India. you might be interested in knowing how? we are avoiding six gotra atleast - By this we prevent coming together recessive characters. which have accumulated in other groups like muslims even panjabis too. So dear brother we are having very good system but needs some modifications in this bygiving some freedom to our new generations in selecting their life partner
