Neither am writing for Cricket , nor am against other sports. While considering candidates for awards , one must take in account the contribution of players. Not to degrade the medalists ( and I do know that the conditions are not in favour of them without the govt support and money and media coverage , but that is no fault of a cricket player) , harbhajan has been playing at international level for nearly 11 years now.
314 wickets in test matches and 202 in one day internationals , 1400 runs in tests and 911 in ODIs ( and off late he has really been more than Ok with the bat !! )[[ See these runs in light of we loosing ODI in 99 world cup in Olonga's over when our tail enders could not make up 4-5 runs and when Saqlain rushed through the tail at Chinnaswamy after Tendulkar got out to him ( which Sachin made in great back pain, those memories very distinctly itched in my memory]].
Hat-trick against Aussies , blowing aussies up in 2001 test series , RPO of 4.2 in 180 odd ODIs is certainly not bad in the age of short boundaries and flat pitches. Great athlete , good fielder and long spell bowler ! You are degrading sports as a whole if you say the award come for free.
He is also 1 out of those privilged 20-30 who get to play for India in this cricket crazy nation , and that is no mean achievement.
Of course Sushil and Vijender deserve accolades and praise and attention and acknowledgement and appreciation but just because they are not getting that , it is certainly not Bhajji's mistake!

Dear Dalal Saab,How many nations play Cricket and whats the competition on International level if we compare this game with other games. Winning against Cubans is not a mean achievment.
Games and sports like Boxing, wrestling, swimming, Atheletics, Hockey, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, etc etc have much tougher competition
Above all there is a difference between tri-series & the Olympic arena
starting from ur very first line that "Neither am writing for Cricket , nor am against other sports"
you have written the whole thing in favour of criket...PLZ DONT FEEL OFFENDED..you wrote that he 's been playing for so long time etc etc...can u just tell me that how many years of life an wat depth of dedication is recquired to be an OLYMPIAN,..dont u think that he also might have played in a series of International events for a long time before participating in Olympics (and WINNING A MEDAL ) where i m sure that there are more numbers of countries or teams participating as compared to the total number of crikect playing nations in world. He is also a playing this sport for more than a Decade at Senior level....It is obvious that we are a criket crazy nation and we have placed them at a very very high position in society as compared to any other sports player/athlete. Cricketers already have name @fame with hell lot of money..so we need to emphasise and execute the things which certainly motivates others sportpersons, and i.e at least these national awards to a deserving and outstanding player, and making a PODIUM finish in OLYMPICS is really and truelly outstanding (,....beating the players from round the world....).
