An era has come to an end in indian wrestling wth passing awy of Master Chandgi Ram.Greatest of all wrestlers in post independence india.Won gold medal in 1970 asiad. He passed away today morning in delhi. He was not keeping well for some time.May god bless peace to the departed soul

That's a quite saddening news, he was one of the finest wrestler, coach and pride of our community.
May almighty rest his soul in peace!

My heartfelt condolences for the departed soul. He was indeed one of the greatest wrestlers of our time. May GOD Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace.

I am one of those fortunate people who witnessed perhaps the most famous wrestling bout of Independent India between him and Mehar Din at the National Stadium, New Delhi in 1970/71. One can imagime the importance of the occasion because Sh DARA Singh was appointed to refer the match.

Chandgi Ram Ji ne Mehar Din ke dono haath pakad ke isse nichod diye thay ki Mehar Din refused to fight. Unforgettable scenes were witnessed after that....
 
I saw Chandgi Ram's Kushti In Shamli when he was at the peak of his youth. He handed over a medal to my nephew when he won university competition. Jandgi Ram was a very humble human being. May God rest his soul in peace .His legacy remain for ever.

Chandagi Ram ji was a source of inspiration for the budding wrestlers and a proud son of India. My condolences to the berieved family.

My heartfelt condolences for the departed soul.
He was indeed one of the greatest wrestlers of our time.

Chandgi Ram Ji was a very humble human being.His legacy remain for ever.
I have invited him in London in 1972 after Olympic games in Munich.
Haryana Association London Uk welcome him and chief coach Langde in London.
He was my guest and stayed with my family over 1 month.
Mehardeen, Sucha Singh Dhami and other wrestler visited him in london.
I still have the Olympic turban Pagdi master ji presented to me in london.
I visited Chandgi Ram Vayamshala at Bela road Delhi in 1973 with
New Data bus full of Wrestlers from Haryana and my village Ghasola.
I invited him in my sister marriage in 1973.
He was so great and openhearted that,
He hired a special taxi from Delhi and came to my house in
village Ghasola to perform Kanyadan ceremony.
I visited him in Rai sports school in 1978-79 when he was Additional Director of Sports in Haryana .
He took me to Vayamshala in Delhi to meet other wrestlers in Akhara.
I met him last time in December 2009 with my family at Vayamshala Delhi.
He was great wrestler, friend and human being
May god bless peace to this great soul.
 
A big loss for our community and wrestling world. I remember when he came to a function organized by Shamli Jat Mahasabha to encourage the brilliant students in 1998. He was so motivating and encouraging in his speech. Still I remember his words-
" मैदान खुल्ला पड़ा है जितना चाहे दौड़ लो"

May his soul rest in peace.
 
Every kid not only in Haryana but most of the India know this name Chandgi. "Nikadu doodh peeya kar Chandgi barga hojega".

Such people and their name never die.
 
BHAGWAN UNKI AATMA ko SHANTI DE...............he was a living icon and a symbol of power in Haryana.. ppl use to say..K Ghana CHANDAGI RAM Bn Rya sai... ?? Recently I painted his Portrait for MD University Rohtak.

Heartist condolence.Bhagwan es Mahan Pahlwan ki aatma to shanti pradan kare.He will be keep remember for forever, he will never die in the heart of Haryana peoples
