Dear Members,

I heard the speech of Mr. Obama at Cairo. It was an excellent speech, that clearly spells the frame of US interests and foreign policy. Mr. Obama was extremely clear in his thoughts as always and spoke very well. Here is the link for those who missed this speech.

I had watched the highlight of the speech. thanks for the link Colonel Saheb.
Very good speech, precise and timely!
Of course, he has proved again that he is a speaker par excellence!

" A New Beginning "

No doubt Mr Obama is a good orator! At times it looked that his efforts were that of appeasement but his body language and expression belied that.
In one breath he had shown his commitment to all faiths including Muslims but same time forcefully reiterated his commitment to the security of the US against extremism.

Very tactfully accepted the mistakes in invading the Iraq but was clear and precise about Israel/ Palestinian conflict. His views on Israel/ Palestine were clear, balanced and he put that forward forcefully.

He remembered some minute details about History and Islam, probably because of his young age and that added to the strength to the parts of his speech.Very cleverly used the phrases like, "collective conscience, Violence is a dead end" etc.

His statement on use of Nuclear power was vague and lacked sincerity.

Overall well prepared, crafted and delivered speech.

cheers!

Sir:

Although I agree that the speech is precise and thoughtful and I am personally happy about it, however, I am wondering whether Mr Obama will turn out to be a refined spokesperson with a lot of talk and less work.

Right now I am neutral towards him. We have to give him time to prove himself and his policies/ line of thought in his numerous inspirational speeches. Lets see how things go with him and consquently with the US and also the rest of the world in these troubled economic and political times.

I won't be surprised if President Obama turns out be a Gurbachov in temporarily pulling out USA from world scene. I am not sure if Obama will be able to win Muslims, but he will certainly loose many friends in the process.

Bujergoon, aur saathiyoon kuch sawal hae. Aaj kal sawwal karne ke addat ho gayee.
Pehla sawal hae ki yeh speech kya Obamama ne likhe dhi kya khud? Kaheen yeh ghana samajdhar kisse aur ka likha hua bhashan filimi style se too nahee bool raha tha?
Dusra sawal hae yeh muslim world kya hota hae? manne naheen bera. Manne to yeh pata hae ki pakistani aur uaant par swari karne walle arab loggon mein bahut pharak hae. Aur suna hae ki philpinie mein bhi muslmaan hotee hae too unmee aur arab mein bahut phark hae. samaj mein na aaye baat muslim world kya hae.

I think the comparison to Gorbachov is excellent. I think that sums it up.

Basically good, well intentioned efforts, but coming out a loser in the
end and harming own interests. Hopefully Obama will be more pragmatic.

One should note all the points where the audience clapped during
the speech to get a good feel of the muslim world and the one sided nature of thier views.

Hopefully Obama is not as naive as his speeches are excellent
(basically kucch hum galat, kucch tum galat, kucch hum acche, kucch tum acche, aur lets focus on the future and not dwell on the past.).

certainly a good speech. particularly for jats. :):p;):cool::D

obama ko, siwaye jat ke bare me sochne ke... lagta hai koi kaam nahin hai. I feel that this is the site for the interst of jats..

I think its too early to judge his speech as regards to its effect on ground.
I would wait for his first term as President to be over to see how Muslim countries react during that time.
It will be an interesting experiment. There will be a lot of variables that might derail these peace initiatives. International terrorist organizations will test Obama.

A true leader will do the right thing not the popular thing.

And he comes across as a true leader and a statesman.

In this enviornment of negativity and despair (esp among the muslim world) he seems to reaching out and giving a healing touch.

Kudos to him, so far he has done a great job.

many indians are being killed here n there, i hope due to job scarecities. in australia. what jat mahatmas are doing there?

just got the chance to go thru the speech... overall, it was a cobweb-clearing speech nd to wipe out the (mis)deeds/good efforts of bush. yet there was a glaring problem tht the speech didn't confront directly, wch is the inability of "good" muslims (if at all they exists) to stand up for change. "good" is equated with devout, nd that's a huge obstacle to reform.

the muslim world has not liberated its core values frm the dogmas of religion. even today, in the name of allah, women are denied even basic rights... terrorists march under the banner of faith... mullahs control credulous masses of believers... education for the average citizen is totally centered on the koran. all of these are centuries old backward trends, running counter to the modern world. in fact, the overwhelming dominance of dictators nd royal families in the arab states doesn't begin to be consistent with democratic values tht are two hundred years old in the west. human rights are more or less non-existent. this is an appalling state of affairs, nd no amount of tolerance from america's side alters that fact.

keep pumping billions of dollars in a rogue state as pakistan... i keep my hands crossed to see the results. but does america has another choice as reflected in the tone of the speech ?... i guess not.

He must have worked on this speech for a couple of days in deciding which word to be placed and where...He mentioned some phrase from Quran and his childhood association with Islam to make Muslims realize that he respects their religion to the core....Every word he uttered was to soothe Muslims and needless to mention that he seeks co-operation from Muslims....But if we look at the motive behind this we will find that it wasn't about Muslims but was about his nation which he is trying to make stronger.....the outcome of the speech is awaited....Lets watch what will be impact of this speech on Muslims and how it turns out to be in future....His efforts may be fruitful or may not be but i am concerned about our nation(like he is for his nation)....i read an online article published in Indian newspaper on Pentagon report on misuse of the U.S aid to pakistan....Such aid has been given to Pakistan for almost four decades and almost 70% of such aid is misused by Pakistan...Despite the fact that the Pentagon documents revealed that a major post-9/11 American defence supply to Pakistan under FMF had nothing to do with its fight against terrorism no visible action has been taken so far moreover yesterday U.S House of Representatives passed bill tripling aid to Pakistan....Its almost like giving fund to terrorists to nurture the roots of terrorism......So i wonder if its about giving aid to fight against terrorism or giving aid to a Muslim nation.....Either America is doing so intentionally so that Pakistan can keep India busy by creating violance and nuisance so that India can never become stronger or U.S has no other option but to help Muslims(as Obama's speech indicates)in order to keep itself safe and peaceful.Whatever the reason may be but to me it sounds like a wake up call for India as expecting any help or support from other nations to fight against terrorism(Pakistan)is useless...I hope people will not find it off topic as this issue is of great concern

Aid is passed with a condition that it cannot be used to purchase offensive weapons systems for the Pakistani army, and being US president he doesn't give Poo to what happens to india.
After 9/11 no major/minor terrorist incident has happened in US, on other hand we had enough attacks since then that Ram gopal verma cannot decide on to make his next terrorist movie...Anyways, YES, instead of depending upon other nations, we need to increase our security and intelligence.

Ofcourse aid has been given on this conditon and that's because the whole world knows about the aid given in past was misused....and U.S assume that Pakistan will not do the same after getting aid on this condition...It wasn't about not giving a damn about India but its about the fight against terrorism(as U.S claims to do)....So he should give a poo(as u have mentioned)about it coz if i am not wrong aid is given by U.S is meant for the fight against terror....Its crystal clear that all terrorists attacks were made by Pakistani terrorists then why U.S never came up to support India rather than advising to talk to Pakistan....Talk about what?what kind of diplomacy is this? Sometimes its not just about one nation but about humanity....But its unfortunate that they(peresntly Obama and Bush in past)dont stand against Pakistan's misdoings....Anyways lets see how successful Obama will be in getting support and co-operation from muslims.

I feel they are giving aid just to buy some time and trying to prevent Pakistan from exploding "Terror Exploding" and most important Nuclear capability makes it more serious.

This is Thread going off into a Tangent :)

Anyway...

If you think Pakistan is dangerous now, Wait until it goes out of control.

US is doing India a big favour (directly or indirectly) by interfering in Pakistan.

Except US No other country has the capacity or resources to deal with pakistan.

Why has US not invaded Pakiland? It should have done so long time ago. The whole root of the problem is Pakistani military and ISI. They created Taliban, fought alongside Taliban in Afghanistan. Now that Taliban has turned against Pakiland and want to impose its brand of islam on it, the same brand it imposed on Afghan people, double talking Pakis don't like it? But it did not matter to them at all when their military created Taliban was flogging women in Afghanistan, cutting of limbs of the Afghan people. Instead of invading Iraq which had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks US should have invaded Afghanistan and Pakistan both. Pakistan is the headquarters of World terrorists. Al Qaeda, Jaish e mohmmed, taliban, Lashkar e taiba have their headquarters there. Bin laden is there. Only recently, paki land released Lashkar chief implicated in mumbai attacks! Why is Manmohan Singh talking about starting peace process with pakiland? He is not bsing anyone with his nonsense. Paki land is adding more and more nukes to its arsenal. Where is that money coming from? Paki President Mr. 10 percent goes around the World asking for money and they continue to make more and more nukes. Who killed Benazir Bhutto? What happened to that investigation? Nawaz Sharif is out, Mushraff is out, Benazir Bhutto is dead, and the man who is famous as Mr 10 percent for taking bribes is President? Pakistan supplied nuke tech to North Korea and now North Korea is threatning the World? After a brief drama to fool the World Mushraff let go the rogue Paki scientist who supposedly alone was supplying nukes to North Korea, Libya, Iran? Pakistan should have been declared a rogue nation long time ago. And instead of Iraq it should have been invaded.
