Dear Friends,

Soldiering is an extremely difficult profession. Many of our young brothers laid their lives when still in their teens or early 20’s. Some of them left young widows, and little children. While there are a lot of schemes for their welfare by the Central Government , State Governments and the Ministry of Defense, I personally feel there are still a lot of war widows and children of our soldiers who are entitled to a better life then some of them may actually be living.
While taking the final step at the Chetwood Building an officer takes an oath to take care of his soldiers always and every time before he takes care of himself. There have been many instances when the officers have not lived up to the promise they once made at the time of passing out; but these are exceptions. Most officers would give their lives for their soldiers and that has always been the strength of Indian Army.

I had received myself at age 16 the ashes of my cousin brother who laid his life at Beriwala Bridge in 1971. He was married for less than six months and my uncle became blind while still less that 40 years of age during the military service. He was discharged without any pension at that time. I had experienced the complex problem such situations create for the parents and young widows. There are so many of these young soldiers who have left old/ disable parents; young children and young widows. Some them had been the only earning member of their family.
I have started a charitable organization that is a project within the NAJC (North American Jat Charity) where we would be helping the children and widows of our shaheeds, who need financial help. This is a baby step and with the help of you all; I am sure together we can make it a mission that everyone will envy to copy.
I will be posting the updates of this project as we move on. A website is being developed where people will have an option to make their donations online. All the donations made in US will be tax deductible to people.

I am having my first fund raiser on this Army Day that is on 15th January 2011; at Holiday Inn; Raritan Center, Edison, NJ. I would request you all to inform your friends and family living in US to whole heartedly support this project. We are also in the process of registering a NGO in India that would be managed by the retired officers of highest integrity so that every penny that we collect is directed to the most deserving one.

Kindly help me in this project. You can send your views to me at Virendra.tavathia@gmail.com under the heading “Sharadhaa”.

Looking forward to your support.

Dear Ravinder jeet Ji,

I don't know who Mr. R K Hooda is? But trust me; I know how to handle corruption if you are talking about it. Have fought corruption all my life; and let me tell you with success.

Thanks a lot for being concerned about it; I greatly appreciate your concern. Kindly spread the word around. When things are transparent; then it is the best way to do it.

Dear Ravinder Jeet Singh Ji,

As I have mentioned that there are officers who forget the oath they take while taking the final step at Chedwood Building; but these are exceptions. Most of these officers avoid the active service whenever possible.
Regarding Adarsh Society Case. Firstly; that is the most expensive area of Mumbai; why in world some one would do a project for War Widows in such area where the cost of living is going to be maximum. Secondly it defied the security concern of the Indian Navy. The writing should have been seen on the wall when the project first started and not when it got completed or nearly completed.
I would keep myself away from the controversy; but the fact of the matter is Army is not immune to corruption. But should that stop us help the people?

Once again thanks a lot for your support and encouragement.

Dear Mr. Arun Shokeen,

Thanks a lot for your support. Kindly inform your friends and relatives living in US to contribute with open heart to this cause.

Col Virendra Ji, let us (all at jatland) know when the Indian chapter starts.

Your ideas and work is much appreciated. Thank you!!

Any help regarding the project will be welcomed.

I am working with Col (Retd) Ajit Singh Rana at Gurgaon to register the NGO. Once that is done, you all will be able to help the cause. Remember, our community subscribes maximum to the Armed Forces along with our Sikh brothers. But as I had said, soldiers are a community by themselves. They all do the same thing; that is protect our lives, be it on the border or situations like Mumbai Attacks. They deserve our salute and Shradhaa.

Kindly spread the word around. I will be more active and informative once this first event is over. I am putting my heart and soul into it; and would need support from one and all.

Once again thanks a lot for your encouragement.

Dear Friends;

With the grace of God Almighty; and good wishes of you all; Project Shradhaa got off to a flying start. During the launching fund raiser; we also showed the achievements of Mr. Navin Gulia and excellent work he is doing for the society.

Project Shradhaa has got a tremendous response. We are trying to put a lot of information on face book and you tube. We are working hard to get it going in India. The aim is to be absolutely transparent; in selection of candidates for benefits from project as well as in utilization of funds so that all who are contributing would feel proud that their money is being sent to those for whom they actually contributed it.

Once again I would like to thank you all for your great support. Kindly keep Shradhaa in mind. We need to do something for those who helped us breath the free air.
