Well I completely disagree here. Aisa response dene sae chalte
purze nahin hote. Like I said you can get plenty of such "witty" answers
from all the Rundu Khundus.

Ideally what we need in those positions are problem solvers and administrators. This is no different from what you need in any private
enterprise.

Practically what happens over there is the "yes man" are the ones
who do well. And to be a "yes man" what you need to be proficient
at is the ability to more often than not come up with the "Ji
Haan, Jaisa aap kahen" answer.

In neither case do the "smart arse" answers display ones ability to
do well.

Oh come on Praveen and Gagan !

If I had any say I would actually try to change the Civil services
recruitment so that it is not so "academic heavy". As it stands, candidates
have to pass through two stages of rigorous academic examinations.
The second phase is entirely based on a candidate's knowledge in
some academic field. Frankly, the current system is stacked against the
average Jat who is remarkably skillful...though may lag academically....

Now you tell me, how does one's brilliance in Physics or Chemistry
translate into superior administrative skills ? These candidates are nerds
for crying out loud ! They should be in some science lab or teaching
at some university...not lying flat on their tummies in front of politicians.

And yet these 26-28 year olds all of a sudden are transformed into
top echolons of Indian bureaucracy...because they did really well
in Physics or mechanical engineering.

Compare this approach to how you become a police officer in,
say the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police). You pass some basic
requirements etc and then start at the BOTTOM ! You are the equivalent
of a Hawaldar (or whatever that is). So you have to learn the basics,
walk the streets and pay your dues before you move up.

..........

Well anyways this is going on a tangent...so I'll just stop here...sort of
bored with the thread...

i dunno why raj is pissed....such questions are asked jsut to throw the candidate off balance......one moment u r being asked abt the foreign policy of india or abt the upliftment of the women and at the next moment one of the members asks u such absurd question.....to say sumthing at this time is itself an achievemnet and it certainly shows the candidate's mental agility....quick wittted enough to get himself/herself out of tricky situation.....and if u could add humour to ur answer all the more better.......but wud also like to add tht the selection of the candidate depends on his views on other topics tht are discussed at the interview......relax rahteeji relax.....
bbye and tc ...God bless u all....
