[FONT=&quot]On behalf of self and entire Jat Community in NJ, I express my heat felt condolence on passing away of Dr. J. D. Singh. It is a great loss to the entire Jat Community. We pray to God Almighty to give peace to the departed soul, and strength to all of us to bear this irreparable loss.

From Mrs. Bala Pal

My father-in-law Dr. Jag Deva Singh passed away on Monday June 28 at 3 PM. He was 95 years old at this time. A private family crimination is scheduled on July 1 at 1:30PM. On Saturday, July 3rd, friends are welcome at 10 AM, following Pooja at 11 AM and dinner 12:30PM. We are requesting to inform Dr Jagbir Singh anyone who will stay for dinner so that food shortage may not occur.

The following is Arvind's email attachment about my father-in-law biography.

Lion of Harayana
Today at 3:30 PM on 28th of June 2010 Harayana lost its best son. My father was a champion for truth and justice for the common man. Born in 1915 he was the first person from my village to go beyond the fourth grade. He won scholarship in eighth grade then a gold medal in high school. He went on to
become a Sanskrit scholar and was supported by Sir Chotoo Ram. Soon he was selected to go to summer school in Poona. There he was awarded a Rockefeller Foundation Scholarship. He went to USA in 1957 and earned his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania and wrote a Grammar of Bangaru. He came back in 1959 and joined University of Kurukshetra as the head of the Linguistic Department. He participated in many national and international conferences. He was awarded many honors.
In 1982 he migrated to US to join his family. He was a scholar of Panini and joined me in establishing 'The Panini Foundation' in 1989. Since then he has published seven books and numerous articles and has attended more international conferences. In 2003 his book on 'A proposed script for Harayani' was recognized by the 'Haryani Sahitya Akadami' and a ceremony was organized in his honor at Kurukshetra University.
He has students and champions all over the world to carry out his works and his legacy. He may be gone but is not forgotten. He is survived by his five children and many grand children and great grand children.

Yes a great loss. A heart felt condolance.

may god grant peace to the departed soul.my heartfelt condolaces to the family. kindly lets us know the name of village dr singh was born at.

In passing away of Dr. J.D.Singh the scholarly world fell short by one. Dr. Singh was a great Scholar of sanskrit, especially of grammar and linguistics. His monumental effort in listing the haryanvi verbal stems in corelation with the paninian dhatupath will always be remwembered by those interested in the nuances of the haryanvi laqnguage. His worhy piloting research at the Kurukshetra University created a solid foundation for the department.
He served Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak as Pro-Vice-hancellor without compromising his dignity at a very trying time.
My hear felt condolences to the bereaved family.
