Remember the Roar of Tigers Taking Tiger Hill
______________________________________

At the edge of the killing ground of battle field Kargil
The tigers sit below the hill gathering for the kill
The killing ground runs to the clouds and
They call it Tiger Hill.

When the enemy took tiger hill
There was no one around
When winter comes its guardians
descend to lower ground.

But now its spring and melting snows
Of ice and slush and freezing flows
On rough hewn faces anger shows
A rage for Tiger Hill

And like the tiger sits the hill
silently waiting for the kill.

Out of sight upon the ground
The milling of the men
The 17th Jat are on the ground
the battle to begin

“Cmon boys gather around
There’s mans work to be done
The enemy soils the abode of gods
He must be overrun”

The 17th Jat are on the move
The bravest of the brave
The cold steel is out in the open now
For feeding the enemy grave

There is no way that we can pay
The wages of the work they did that day
The Jats raced up in a human flood
With naked steel to taste the blood

When the killing commenced at last
The heavens turned so still
And then cold steel and battle cry
Ascended up the hill

With all the odds of war against
The men of 17th Jat
Embraced the enemy storm of steel
and the bloody bloody bath

Each hundred metres one man died
He lay there where he fell
The seventeenth just kept moving on
into the jaws of hell

Then hand to hand in close combat
And stab and slash and chop
With bloody steel and insane zeal
The Jats were at the top

And though the Gods love sacrifice
Even for them this was too much
The enemy were stacked seven high
The fury and rage were such

Their fury spent the jats relent
Laid the enemy in stony grave
Then slowly made their way back down
with dead and wounded brave

Now Tiger hill sits quietly
Of death it has had its fill

The brave went home
their wounds to heal
Where wheat and milk
and mustard yield
The blood that colours
the battle field

For one moment
the heart is still
in memory it
beats to thrill
Of men driven
beyond human will
And…..
the Roar of Tigers Taking Tiger Hill

dahiya bhai,great work....maza aa gaya

Amit bhai, kaha chupe te ab tak, its a masterpiece creation. do keep on repeating such work. i request u to send it to jat regiment and the concerned unit.

Did you know that 65% of the soldiers who died to win the various battles of kargil were Jats. Someone has sent me an email criticising my focus on the Jat achievemnts during the Kargil war well let me reply to this in as simple a way as possible: WHY THE HELL NOT!
I am writing about Tiger Hill which was taken by 17 Jat and there was also a company of mussalman Grenadiers but guess what? most of them were Jats too. I am a Jat poet so I'll write about the issues that are close to my heart and who or what can be closer to me than the sacrifice of my own magnificient Kaum. I hope at least on something like a tribute to our kaum we can be one and avoid controversy.

Dear Dahiya Badhshah & Other JATS,

Being a soldier and someone who has a little knowledge of matters military, let me put few things in perspective.

Though I understand the sentiments of those who lost near and dear ones (Me included), it is important to know facts, for facts will clarify our minds and help us understand the sacrifices made.

A total of 344 Officers and Jawans laid down their lives in the Kargil Operations. The state wise list of those who died for you and me is as follows. Assam (3), Andhra Pradesh (4), Bihar (18), Delhi (3), Gujarat (8), Haryana (54), Himachal Pradesh (41), J&K (52), Karnataka (4), Kerela (9), Madhya Pradesh (4),
Maharashtra (10), Manipur (5), Meghalaya (1 - Capt Nongrum. He is from my Regiment - JAK LI, and won a Maha Vir Chakra), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (2), Orissa (6), Punjab (36), Rajasthan (51), Tamil Nadu (4), Uttar Pradesh (20) and West Bengal (8).

Even if you assume that all those who sacrified their lives from the states of Haryana, Delhi, UP, Rajasthan and Punjab to be JATS, the total comes to 164 out of 344. All this information is available on the official web site of Indian Army at www.indianarmy.nic.in All those interested can go to the home page and click Archives and get to the Kargil page.

Dahiya Badhshah is not too much off the mark. However, let me also quote General George Patton, a great American War Hero of the Second World War. He said "You don't have to show your patriotism by dying for your country. Kill the other bastard for his country".

Also understand another point. Not all units of the Indian Army took part in the Kargil Operations. Just about 18 Infantry Units out a total of more than 200. The most important lesson that came out after this war was that the Junior Officers of the Indian Army led from the front and the ratio of Officers to Jawans killed was very high. The record of the Indian Army on this account is beyond compare and probably only Israeli rmy can match our record. A Madrasi leading JATS, a Gujrati leading Nagas, Sardar leading Madrasi's and a Baniya leading Sikhs. This is how Kargil was fought for and retaken from Pakistanis.

As regards the role played by our Generals. Well, some other time.

Dear All,

Please refer to my earlier post on the subject.

Those who sacrificed their lives from Bihar is 18 and not 1 as inadvertantly given. Also please ignore that fool smoking, next to Bihar.
