Hi Friends,

As all of you are seeing that the our great hero Mr Sehwag is not upto his mark these days. I am personally feeling that he might loose his place in the sight if he continues with this form for long. I might be wrong, but since his tour in pakistan, i some how dont see that much confidence which he showed previously. Do you think it is time for our hero to take a break and think before it is too late ?

The other thing that I can see that there are so many talented players just waiting for an oppurtunity and the moment they get that they will grab. This will also add upto some more pressure on Sehwag. He might continue like this for a coule of more tours because of his past fame, but if it continues, i am not sure if he would be in the Indian squad in the comming world cup..

I might be wrong .. lets debate

nobody is permanent. sehwag have to go. i think he starting thinking a lot. he sudn't. play his game. but once u start afraiding 1 thing then u again n again thought about that. n hooked with tht feeling.

May be a Change Necessary

Sehwag is a rare talent. The job of opening the innings is the most difficult thing in the batting order. If there is any position in the batting order where the most batsmen have got out at low scores, that is the opening slot.
So let us not write him off. Sehwag had made it clear earlier that he is a middle order batsman, and had agreed to open the innings as there was no place for him in the middle order. As our middle order batsman are ageing, I feel, it may be a good idea to shift him to middle order for a while, and bring in Gautam Gambhir with Wasim Jaffer at the opening slot.
Imagine if Sehwag was available at the fall of Pathan's wicket or Dhoni's wicket, in the Nagpur test, we stood a good chance of chasing more than run a ball target.
Bringing Sehwag in middle order can only be at the expense of either Laxman or Kaif at present. It is unfortunate that some of the bright players have to wait, but then it is a good situation. I guess Chappel deserves a special praise for trying a win in this situation. This will put caution on other teams in future as they would now know that even a difficult target would be tried by this team.

...much hullabola about nothin'...
Even Dravid has struck by his opener batsman and said that every sportsperson could go thru a rough patch and be out of form, not meaning that they are finished....and also that he has full confidence in him and his explosive self!

Add to that the fact that he actually went out of the Pakistan tour with a bang, hitting the bowlers all around the park, pulling his shoulder in one instance and is now playing again after an injury. You should watch the replays of his dismissal's against England again and remember that openers job is not easy, especially with the ball seaming around....and those were some beauty of balls!...

It is really frustrating and silly starting rumors and discussions everytime a good batsman fails a couple of innings (remember 'Endulkar'?)...but then that's what we Indian's are good at; Like they say,'It is exciting for everyone when a Champion is going great, but the news and gossip is never bigger than when the Champion is down; people rarely enjoy the spectacle more than when a Champion falls!'.... that in short is the mentality!

Guys, know your sport and know your cricket! Next time the commentator (all great players of their times) speak and discuss each and every ball and nuances of the sport...LISTEN CAREFULLY and LEARN! Don't be ignorant and just the mass followers of the mob mentality and sillyness!...

Sehwag is one of the greats and if nothing else!..... read and listen to even the opponents and teams that speak with respect about his ability to change the complexion of a game and take them to the cleaners. He has been known to destroy a bowling attack all by himself... almost finishing some bowlers careers (Sohaib Akhtar was said to have been almost destroyed and defeated completely after that one world cup match, solely by Sehwag and Tendulkar batting...he has managed to bounce back only after the Australian and English tours...only to get enjured again when India was giving him the stick recently!)

Anyways, stem the gossip and rumors and stick with your greats...they are the only ones that can deliver when needed....................

sehwag current form

i fully agreed with shailendra.
sehwag is a very talented player u can't discard him on some of his failures and i am not agree with the comment that he should change his batting order right now he is in 2 to 3 top class opener players in world, one more thing i want to say that u look on that innings when sehwag clicked, in 99 % cases india won that match, whenever he clicks he asures the indian win and u compare with sachin record and look how many matches india won when tendulkar made 100,u will get less then(<50%) that thing matters a lot.
sehwag always plays for his country not for his own record.look shoib akhtar comment in PAK tour that it is very neccesory to get out sehwag early otherwise we can't thing to win.he is a born talent
He is a perfect JAT when he is in flow he looks perfect JAT,who is infront of him he don't see just to hit hit and hit nothing else.
he is a future captain also

well..the way sehwag is playing his fate is going to follow ganguly's...he may b the next man to get out of the team if he continues to play like coz everyone is performing better. moreover the entry and performance of dhony is overshadowing his image of a hard hitter. we sud look sehwag;s performance in both versions of game. talking of onedayers its been very long since he had hit a century or a match winning knock....really long...he has got a batting average of mere 32 which is not good by the standards of expectations we r putting on him and it be also noted that hightest run scoreres have either been openers or one down batsmen and neither he is exceptional with the fielding and he had never performed well in chasing a score. moreover so many youngster knocking. the way he gets out is also a cause of worry...
coming to the longer version.. he has performed very well ...but his record in second inning is so good...he flawlessness is incomparable on his day....but he is becoming lesser consistent....its an irony that this kind of player is performing better in tests
its always wrong to compare anybody with sachin tendulkar...he is the one of very few best batmen ever in the history of cricket
sehwag do need to improve his performance particularly in onedayers as supposedly he doesnt have any lobby in selectors and nor the support of jats unlike bengalis(...coming out on streets n all)

Point well taken... He (Sehwag) needs to prop up his act no doubt! Indian Cricket has started to acquire zero tolerance for extended bad performances... In fact I even beg to differ on your point about the 'lobbying' [for example the (Bengalis out on the street) and selectors in favor of Ganguly; Cause nothin' worked for him afterall, I guess he had delivered a bad performance too many!]... so really even 'lobbying' would not work in any ones favor anymore, cause those days are over!
If a man (Chappel) could be brought in as a Coach by Ganguly, only to get thrown out by the same man himself, because he is not tolerating bad performances...goes on to prove that 'bhai-bandee' nahee chalegi anymore in Cricket! The world is watching and either you perform or be kicked out!
Shape up or get shipped out!

We r talking abt a player who always used to say thet he is a middle order batsman not an Opener. He is a nice player and can destroy any bowling attack when he is on his best, but the thing of concern is his Non consistency, as in Pakistan he played well but a player who just hit a double hundred and getting failed in his home ground . He is getting out on same kind of balls, this is a weakness of him an I am sure he is working on it, but a great player sort these kind of Problems very fast otherwise u have to suffer like ganguly is. Tendulkar is also through a lean patch but he is one of the greatest and he will come back. We want same from Sehwag.
India wants an opener who can give a consistent opening partnership just like Justin langer and Hayden did for Australia, u can see in most of the countries have such openers. He Is not a reliable opener as anyone can say the we have Sehwag and he will surely going to hit a ton, no one can say so. India have problems not only with sehwag but with all the players in our team expect onr or two of them. India don’t have good Bowlers and forcing players like Pathan to be an all rounder then a genuine Bowler who can produce a healthy Spell. In my point of view Sehwag is one of the best Openers India have in current team and this is bad luck of the Team India that we don’t have too many competitors for this position. India can give Sehwag rest but what is the alternative for this, who is going to replace him? A big question. So for now Sehwag is the best on this Position

Sehwag need to realize - the stakes are High

I think Sehwag do need to learn his lessons fast. His recent form does raise a few concerns especially the way he has got out recently - very similar dismissals.

We all know footwork is not his strength area. But time and again he is playing too far away from his body on out-swingers OR leaving a lot of space between bat and pad on in-swingers. He may not like it but he is in the opener's slot and he has to improve upon his problem areas and try to play as straight as possible.

His batting consistency is going to be a important factor when the future Captain of India will be decided. He is a damn good player but he can be a Great player, It's high time that he realize the difference and the stakes.

For the sake of amount of sheer talent he has I pray for him and wish him all the best!!!

he had never performed well in chasing a score.

Well Mr. Khokhar.. Let me tell you for your kind attention that out of 7 centuries which sehwag has hit in one dayers 5 of them came while chasing a score and 4 times indian team won. In total too out of 7 times sehwag scored a century 6 times india won.
There is no doubt about the fact that the expectations are too high from him seeing the kind of ability he has but we shouldnot forget the fact that he has never appeared out of socks whenever he comes out to play. He is still there in the team after so called so many failures just because of his potential and nothing else.

WOW !!! so many discussions.. Well let me tell you that Sehwag is one of my all time favorites, because he is a amazing batsmen and after all a jaat.

The point that I was trying to make is the consistency. The reason why I am saying this is that there are players like Suresh Raina and others waiting for an opportunity. Once one is out because of performance issues, all that he has built over the years will be wiped out.

What I wanted to say is that he should be aware of this and act before he is also treated like Ganguly. lets not forget that Ganguly was is one among the best player in Indian Cricket History and all this happened because he was complacent to react to his under performance and realized it too late.

I am sure, Sehwag has till date not enjoyed Ganguly stature!! keep debating ...

A Happy Situation Indeed

It is a happy situation indeed. Not only batting, the fast bowling department itself getting tough. Likes of Ashish Nehra may well be forgotton soon. Amit Bhandari, Avishkar Salvi, Tinu Yohanan are not old. Zaheer and Balaji might also find it difficult to make it back. VRV Singh has not played but he is promissing. RP Singh in spite of two man of the match performances finds himself in reserves. Sreesanth, Munaf, and VRV are going to challange. The only fast bowler who probably can make it is Agarkar as he has done on many occassions and in my personal opinion on probably factors other than pure merit.

We need to groom the spinners. May be Chawla given another chance at Mumbai. Amit Mishra may be another aspirant.

Players if they want a permanent place in team now have to compete tough, perform consistently, and may have to acquire more than one skill. Being an all rounder or an outstanding fielder may help. Suresh Raina is an excellent talent and if he can sharpen his bowling skills a little bit, he can make a permanent place for a long time for he is an outstanding fielder.
