Should Dravid open the batting for India ???

I wonder if it is right for Dravid to open the batting for India...by doing so we loose the hig scoring overs of field restriction. Moreover if Dravid falls after waisting so many deliveries then it leads to unwanted pressure on the following batsman.

In my openion Dravid is a good batsman in middle order and should only come in crisis and not as opener.

One more thing...Dhoni is a potential hitter and should be tried as opener too...if he can play for 20-25 overs the scenerio of game is definetly going to change. In WI tour he was not used properly and was called in middle order in crisis to score and keep wicket as well. Dhoni has opened once and did well then why not to allow him to play full 50 overs if he can.

Good Question

I think, Dravid should come in middle order. I don't see any reason of breaking the good opening pair. We did so, by bringing Ganguly in middle order and we know the results.
I think, both Sehwag and Tendulkar have done a great job as opener and should be persisted with. We now have different power plays and we do have batsman who can hit big in middle order in Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj and to some extent Irfan Pathan. Both Yuvraj and Raina are great finisher and should be used as such. Kaif is another option. If Sehwag needs to brought in to the middle order, then we need a batsman with similar instincts or nearly similar instincts to replace him at the top of the order. I think that can be done by Yuvraj or Raina. I think it would be a good idea to try Raina with Sachin in couple of matches, with Dravid coming at # 3. One probably batting order could be as under:
Tendulkar
S.K. Raina
Rahul Dravid
Yuvraj Singh
Sehwag
Irfan Pathan
M.S. Dhoni
Harbhajan
Agarkar/ Zaheer Khan
Munaf Patel
RP Singh

I think the bowling form of Irfan Pathan is cause of concern. I also feel that keeping Zaheer Khan out of the team inspite of his outstanding performance in domestic and county season is not good for the game. He definitely is a match winner and would be very useful to the young seamers to groom.

It is a good situation to have, as between Kaif, Yuvraj and Raina only two could be accomodated. May be it would be a good idea to have an additional batsman and use Tendulkar, Sehwag, Yuvraj and Raina as the fifth bowler. We do need to give them a lot more bowling practice though.
 
When sachin was not fit to play and India had problem about the opening pair, Rahul came forward and lead India by example but now we have options and Rahul must bat in middle order. Sehwag or Dhoni should open with Sachin now.

Dear Shokeen Ji,
Mr. Chappel has a job to perform for which he is being paid a lot of money. His performance would be judged as to how the team performs. His future assignments whether in India or any where else would also depend on how the team India performs.
With that in mind, I fail to understand as to how it would be in his interest to ensure that team does poorly. We have a professional team and each player knows his role in the team. I am sure the team captain and the senior players are taken into confidence while deciding on new things.
While any thing is possible in the world, could you please explain if you have some factual knowledge about Mr. Chappel's bad intentions/motives against team India.
 
I agree with tavatia ji here. when you are talking abt coaches coaching international teams u talk abt professional people who don't really care abt anything else except doing there job to perfection. and as far as australia is concerned there is no team in the that will be able to challenge them only because of the brought up of cricketers here is totally different then in any other country in the world. as far as india is concerned i think the team will do well again in this world cup because of the learning curve our youngsters went through in west indies. they are tricky pitches to play on.
 
Mere khyal se to Dravid ko one day team me extra rakh lena chahiye...Looks like he is also having Ganguly Syndrome.

Pathan ek achha khassa bowler tha vo ab naa batsman raha naa bowler...toss jita ist down Patha bhej diya....is it so easy to bowl after getting tired in batting...If India is batting first Pathan should never be sent before other batsman...because he bats for 10-15 overs then obeviously he gets tired ad cannot bowl as good as he can.

This cricket managment is clueless and donot know what they are doing.
