At first when I read this headline,
Suspension of female IAS officer wrong: Karat
I was distraught at her gender specific statement. My first thought was- if an officer has done something wrong then it is in best interest to call for her suspension, why is Mrs Karat then making such hue n cry! Why is it a problem if a female officer is suspended? She was an officer first and a female later.
But then I proceeded to read the whole article and guess what the officer has done? She dared to oppose the illegal building of mosque on Govt property during Ramzan!! And the concerned officer has a good reputation of standing strongly against sand mafia.
Now the question is why Mrs. Karat didn’t oppose the suspension on genuine grounds rather than making it a sexist issue?
And why at the first place, was the officer suspended for doing her duty?
Apparently the decision was taken to prevent any communal tension by Mr Yadav, which he just assumed might happen. Taking a chance of one in hundred that the people might have reacted aggressively and resorted to violence, was this the way of handling this issue by the CM? Stopping the officer from doing her duty!
Poor her now she’s suspended and if she wouldn’t have done anything she would have been blamed for allowing illegal encroachment.
