Swine Flu

On 16th May, India recorded it's first case of Swine Flu, giving evidence that the disease is spreading to our Nation also. As per the information available on the Net following are some facts:
1. Transmission of swine influenza virus from pigs to humans is not common.
2. This transmission, does not always cause human influenza.
3. The meat of the animal poses no risk of transmitting the virus when properly cooked.
4. People who work with pigs, especially people with intense exposures, are at increased risk of catching swine flu.

Keeping in view these information please enlighten:
a) Can the ever present pigs on Indian streets and drains are capable of spreading this virus?
b) If so, then what are the ways of containing it?

Mexican pigs are bad.. Indian pigs are good and Neat & clean.. So no danger from indian pigs who frequently venture out on streets, gutters etc..

Turning to vegetarian food

We have had so many diseases spreading from animals to humans, the more recent and the not so recent being the Mad Cow disease, Avian/Bird flu, and now it's the Swine flu (H1N1).

Are these indications guiding us towards a vegetarian diet/food which is nutritious as well as relatively safe to consume?

Aaj ke time me veg food ho ya non veg sab me ek jaisi baat hai.

Even veg food is more dangerous to health due to too much usage of pesticides in field.

I am not supporting the non veg food but this is a fact.......

Swine flu is a respiratory illness of pigs caused by infection with swine influenza A virus (SIV) that can occasionally affect humans. The disease first came to attention in 1976 with the death of a US army recruit from swine flu.

Though not much evidence has been collected as yet on the direct link between the passing of the swine flu virus from pigs to humans, one thing is certain and that is the people with intense exposure to pigs especially at pig farms, pork processing and retailing units are more at risk.

Abstinence is the best prevention and also cure to this outbreak.

Though a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian diet is totally an individual choice/prerogative, its reprecussions can be wide ranging and that too spread across continents and affecting millions.

But swine flu doesn't spread by eating swines.......

The point how the pigs are effected by this virus, and if the mexican pigs can be effected, why not the Indian pigs....... or is there some environmental factor???

Once again, I think this topic is relevant, as the flu cases are being reported from India and all parts are declared as Yellow zone..... so what are the precautions that one can take to counter this attack, or the only option available is putting masks over faces.... like the security personnel at airports are doing??

Vegetarianism is OK friend but this flu thing spreads from human beings.... so is there any antidote available which can protect us........

Bhai

This antidot is not exactly for swine flu, it was meant for Bird flu. the scientists are still working to develop antidot for Swine Flu. Untill they have the direct antidot they will be using the same drug they had for Bird Flu.

Baaki recently Canada has claimed to develop the direct drug but that is still not approved and commercially produced.

Thanks
