Yesss Yesss you guessed correctly The Premiership is back with a BANG!!!!!!. Start of a New Season.

Anyway As we All know Arsenal FC take on Newcastle FC this afternoon at Highbury Sunday, 14 August Kick-off: 1330 BST.

Arsenal are without the suspended Jose Antonio Reyes so Dennis Bergkamp will start up front with Thierry Henry.

Sol Campbell is still missing with a calf injury but Manuel Almunia is fit again after a broken finger.

Alan Shearer has shaken off a calf injury in time to play but Newcastle are without strikers Michael Chopra (knee) and Shola Ameobi (suspension).

New signings Scott Parker, Emre and Craig Moore are included but there is no place for Titus Bramble (elbow).

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger:
"Newcastle can be one of the dangerous teams this season.
"No-one expects them to be but they are a good side, especially in the middle of the park where they have made some good additions with Emre and Parker.

"They already had a very good midfield, so they're a very good side and a great performance will be needed to win."

Newcastle boss Graeme Souness:
"We are under no illusions that it will be a very hard game for us but if we can enjoy a bit of luck and perform we can win any game.
"We've had them watched and there's things we think we can exploit.

"We're going to Highbury with some outstanding players in our ranks. I'm confident and looking forward to it. I know the players will be up for it."

Arsenal Win 2-0

ARSENAL FC 2-0 NEWCASTLE FC.

Late goals from Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie helped Arsenal see off the challenge of 10-man Newcastle.
Henry slotted home from the spot on 81 minutes after Freddie Ljungberg was brought down by Charles N'Zogbia

And Van Persie's deft finish from Ljungberg's cross six minutes later sealed victory for the Gunners.

Newcastle defended well after Jermaine Jenas received a straight red card for a challenge on Gilberto Silva after only 32 minutes, but could not hold on.

However, Arsenal probably deserved the win after dominating the second half, with Ljungberg and Henry forcing good saves from Shay Given.

The Gunners were playing the first match of their final season at Highbury and kicked off on a lush surface with the words 'Highbury 1913-2006' marked on the grass.

But the first half was not a classic. Arsenal's first opening did not come until 15 minutes, when Dennis Bergkamp's shot was well-held by Shay Given.

Cesc Fabregas, playing in midfield alongside Gilberto Silva, blocked a powerful drive from Newcastle debutant Emre as the visitors looked to respond.

Yet the match swung Arsenal's way after 32 minutes as Jenas was shown a straight red card for his tackle on Gilberto.

It was always going to be hard for us but I think we'll be a bit disappointed not to have got a draw

Have your say on 606

The midfielder may argue that his challenge was clumsy rather than malicious but referee Steve Bennett was unhappy with the way Jenas' trailing leg clattered into the Brazilian.

The Gunners almost took the lead moments later but Given was equal to Kolo Toure's close-range angled shot.

Henry wasted possibly the best chance of the half with minutes remaining, heading Lauren's cross over the bar.

Arsenal began the second half in positive fashion and could have taken the lead on 54 minutes had Ljungberg not got the ball stuck under his feet during a goalmouth scramble.

Henry just failed to connect with a through-pass and Bergkamp then had a shot blocked as the Gunners began to increase the pressure on the visitors.

Ljungberg came even closer on 68 minutes when Given brilliantly smothered his shot following a sublime pass with Henry.

Newcastle were penned back in their own half for long periods, although as the clocked ticked down they grew in confidence and the home fans became a little agitated.

And the relief was palpable when Bennett pointed to the spot after N'Zogbia impeded Ljungberg inside the box.

The excellent Given got a hand to Henry's spot-kick but could not keep it out.

And Van Persie's late contribution sealed victory.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger:
"They are a good side. It is never easy to play 10 men but I like the fact that we knew how to win because we kept patient.
"Against a good Newcastle side, we knew before our penalty we could score - we could smell the goal coming.

"I think Jermaine Jenas made a dangerous tackle. He brought his right foot on the standing leg of Gilberto."

Newcastle manager Graeme Souness is believed to have refused to speak to the media after the match in protest at the performance of the referee.

Harjivan, it is good to see you quite enjoying yourself here! I unfortunately could not figure out much as to what is it all about (soccer fever I guess, right?)

Anways, I was posting for some other reason entirely; Could you please guide me as to how can one include a particular image as a part of the post itself, like you just did above? (as versus to an attachment type though; that I can do...only that the stupid 'attachment' shows the image as a thumbnail which then needs a further click for it to be viewed properly....useless I must say!)

So How does one go about it??? Please advise...

From your reply i can clearly see that you aint got a clue who that is the Picture. Do the words Va Va Voom mean anything to you???

The reason why that picture is up is to simply piss off Chelsea FC and Man Utd fans.

Its like you going on a Paskistani website and posting a picture of Tendulkar or someone like him.

Regards and enjoy the Season.

p.s its not soccer BUT Football.

So anyway Shailendra the season got off to a winning start yesterday with a 2-0 win over Newcastle. They packed the midfield, as you would expect, and did well in preventing us making any real chances. That was until about half an hour in when a crude challenge from Jermaine Jenas saw him sent off by Steve Bennet. It was a harsh decision I have to say. There's no doubt he deserved a booking and there have been some horrible straight red challenges this weeekend but Jenas can count himself unlucky. A big cunt out to Sky and in particular Jamie Redknapp for saying it was Gilberto's fault for not controlling the ball well enough. Stupid Sp*rs cunt.

We toiled and although we had most of the possession in the secnd half we didn't really look like scoring until we brought on new boy Hleb and Robin van Persie. They added some impetus to our attacking play and we began to cause Newcastle more and more problems. Then on about 80 minutes a Toon youngster clattered into Freddie as he was about to shoot and the ref had little hesitation giving us a penalty. Thierry took it and although Shay Given, who had yet another fantastic game against us and must surely be on Arsene's goalkeeping list, got a hand to it it went in in the corner. 1-0 Arsenal and you could sense the relief from all concerned.

A few minutes later we scored again. A typical Arsenal goal really. They had a corner we broke quickly with Ljungberg and Lauren and Freddie's cross was caressed home from a tight angle by Robin van Persie. 2-0 Arsenal and that's the way it stayed.

I have to say I'd like to see van Persie start ahead of Bergkamp now. Dennis played way too deep and stifled the midfield a bit, in my opinion. Robin always looks dangerous and capable of scoring when he plays and I think we have more up front with him. Dennis still has something to offer, no question, but as a starter I'm not sure. Robert Pires was very quiet again today and long term you have to think Hleb is the one to take over his position. His running was very direct and he got involved a great deal in his 20 minutes. The defence was very solid, which is a good sign, and Senderos coped well with Shearer's physical presence and niggly elbows.

As usual the press this morning focusses on how we struggled without Vieira and how Chelsea will fear Manchester United more than us. That's fine. Overlook the fact that we've had games like that with Vieira in the middle and that Chelsea scraped a late, late win against mighty Wigan. Suits me fine and I'm sure it suits the manager and players fine too. There's no doubt we can play better than we did yesterday but people are over analysing things. It was the first game of the season against a team already match fit from their Inter Toto exploits who came to defend. I'm happy with a 2-0 win.

Next stop Stamford Bridge.

Thanks for the update about 'soccer' Harjivan...I saw a whole bunch of text about you trying to tell me something! :D
But seriously if you failed to notice from the responses (or the lack of them  ) unfortunately who cares!
Manne to unhaiye maaf kar ya angrezee phutbaal khatir...tere tae mai kuch aur hi poochan laag rhaya tha baawli traed...

But, since you completely ignored my actual query too I guess you tend to miss a lot of points here and there (well, anyways hope you favorite 'soccer' team is doing better 'whichever one it may be'! No wait; dismiss that last statement--- Don't really wanna know, if you know what I mean ;) )...

Shailendra,
There is an 'Insert Image' option on the menu bar above the edit box where you type the text.

...Oaf course 'nd for Pete's siake you can say that again 'arry... (all right so fine... but then that was my best shot at the accent! ;) )

Liverpool/Man. Utd.

Good to see Premiership posts coming on Jatland.

I think Chelsea would find it difficult to win the title as they may not be lucky this time around with their conventional 1-0 victories. I don't like Arsenal so wudn't be talking more of it.

Van Nistelrooy and Rooney can do wonders for Man Utd if the former plays the entire season, which seems tough 'coz of his injury picking habits.

Would love to see Liverpool days back though. Their 1975-1990 days are going to come back but when (??) ......well definitely in the near future if not this season.

Would love to see this result at the end of the season.

1. Liverpool
2. Man Utd
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
.......

regards,
$umit
P.S. : Expecting Arsenal fans bashing me with their posts. :-)

you must be fuming over the result! For the non-plussed- chelsea won the last match 1-nil with a serendipitious goal...

dont be shocked  , if you live in London, football is like hay fever in summer...you're bound to catch it at some point or the other :) .

It wasn't a particularly good game, neither team played well. Arsenal lacked cohesion and forward motion, Chelsea did their usual 10 men behind the ball and hoof a long ball to the winger thing.

The first five minutes saw Jens make a good save when Duff got behind Ashley Cole and from the subsequent corner Freddie cleared off the line. Then it settled down in a game of possession without too many clear chances. Late in the first half Jens made another good save when Lampard crossed to old man Robben.

The second half was more of the same, we never really threatened despite having lots of the ball and then they got a goal. A quick free kick found an obviously offside Didier Dogbag and as he tried in vain to control the ball it bobbled in off his shin. Truly he is one of the most enormous cunts in the world right now - right down to baiting his own fans after he scored. A class act, for sure.

That did spark us into life a little bit. Henry had a decent effort saved by Cech and we pushed men forward but to little effect really. 1-0 it finished and although we didn't play well we didn't deserve to lose the game by any means. However, in this live for the moment world we live in the reaction from some quarters has been hysterical and over the top

Only if you ask me ...

* Arsenal has got the best game in English Premier League. I myself never support the gunners but admit to this fact everytime I see them playing.

* Ok, Shaun Wright Phillips is the man to watch out for but dude I am not sure with all that Jose Mourinho has in his mind how many hours we would play the entire season.

* Rooney and Van Nistelrooy can do it for Man Utd this time.

* ...would love to see Liverpool golden days back. They ruled once.

BTW... when is The Emirates Stadium coming up? I heard Highbury is closing for football.

Premiership ??

What premiership ??

Dont know anything about it... :o

Maybe someone can help.

I'm more into Gulli danda, which unfortunatly they dont play in UK...lol
