Namaste Dudee Ji,
If Lok dal gets even 10 seats it will be big thing for Ajit Singh. Bcoz all parties are saying he got 14 bcoz they have coalition with him. So that is the situation for Ajit Singh.

RLD has the biggest stakes in the second phase of polls
Congress -Tikait party alliance lends an interesting angle to poll battle

LUCKNOW: Three claimants will vie for the former Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh's political legacy when the second phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 58 seats in 10 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh gets under way on April 13. Campaigning for this phase ended on Wednesday.

Incidentally, all the three claimants have political scores to settle with one another. The former Prime Minister's son and Rashtriya Lok Dal president, Chaudhary Ajit Singh's animosity with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh is well known. The RLD president also has an axe to grind with Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Mahendra Singh Tikait. Mr. Tikait's son Rakesh Tikait has floated a new party, Bhartiya Kranti Dal (BKD), and aligned with the Congress. In this race for Charan Singh's political legacy, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have picked up issues, which were an anathema during Mr. Singh's lifetime.

This sugarcane rich region of the State is popularly known as the "Jat heartland" and is the birthplace of the realignment of the middle peasantry classes — the Jats, Gujjars, Muslims and Yadavs — under the leadership of Charan Singh in the 1960s. Mr. Mulayam Singh who claims that he is the actual political legatee of the Jat leader made his debut in politics during this phase of resurgence of the middle castes in Uttar Pradesh.

Crucial performance

Since the Chhotey Chaudhary (Ajit Singh) considered himself as the natural heir of his father's legacy, the RLD's performance here was crucial. The RLD has the biggest stakes in the second phase of polls. The party now has 15 MLAs in the Assembly (it is in session and the next sitting is scheduled for April 25). Of these, 11 are from the 58 seats in Western U.P. where polling will be held on Friday.

Mr. Singh, who recently failed to clinch a poll pact with the Congress and the Jan Morcha, was banking on the Jat-Muslim equation and his demand for "Harit Pradesh" comprising 11 districts of Western U.P.

Principal Secretary (Home) K. Chandramouli told reporters that 10 senior police officers of the rank of IG and DIG had been sent to the 10 districts for overseeing the poll arrangements. Mr. Chandramouli said the Central forces had to be deployed at the polling stations by 4 p.m. on Thursday.

He said Sector Magistrates had been directed to ensure the deployment of the security personnel within the specified time. Active member

Respected Sir

What would you expect out of a man who sells tickets for his seats like someone sells Vegetables.

My unconfirmed PR say last time Chaprauli seat was sold for Rs. 35 Lakhs to the standing MLA because everyone knows one who gets the seat will win. Now, what would the MLA do? Obviously take out the return from people's money.

However, their is a light of hope, youth in Jat Belt is awakening and looking out for options. Hope it is soon that they get one.

CBI files chargesheet in Kavita murder case

Ghaziabad, April 4
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made some sensational disclosures in its chargesheet regarding the murder and blackmailing case of lecturer Ms Kavita Chaudhry of Chaudhri Charan Singh University, Meerut.

The investigating agency disclosed how Kavita, obsessed with a craze to become rich overnight, had gone about developing her relations with ministers and other VIPs and how her accomplice Ravinder Pradhan had ditched and murdered her in the process.

Giving details of how she went about developing her relations and later blackmailed the UP government minister Mirrajuddin, the agency elaborated how accused Pradhan had acquired land and property with the money gained through blackmailing.

Annoyed with the fact that Pradhan had pocketed most of the money, Kavita had threatened him with murder. Later, Pradhan had planned and executed Kavita’s murder.

Underlining the role of Mirrajuddin, CBI sources said three leaders could once again be subjected to lie detector test.

Meanwhile, Special Judicial Magistrate, CBI court, Sapna Mishra in Ghaziabad has rejected the bail plea of Ravinder Pradhan, Ravinder and Ashok.

The CBI also stated that a UP government minister had spoken to Ravinder Pradhan on October 19, 2006 while he was conspiring Kavita’s murder along with Sultan. Two calls were made on October 18 evening and the third was made in the morning on October 19.

In a 15-page report, the CBI said since the minister had failed to give satisfactory replies to the agency’s questions, the investigations will continue, and if need be, interrogation could again be conducted .

The investigating agency brought out that there was a deep-rooted conspiracy behind this case.

BJP, SP mull over Jharkhand model in UP
Satish Misra
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, May 2
The BJP and the Samajwadi Party are seriously pondering over adopting the Jharkhand model for Uttar Pradesh to stop BSP leader Mayawati from assuming power in the state in case of a hung Assembly following the election results.

Sources said Chief Minister Mulayam Singh and BJP chief ministerial candidate Kalyan Singh, both of whom nurse a strong grudge against Mayawati, are thinking of propelling a neutral person as Chief Minister and then extending outside support to that government as has been the case in Jharkhand where the Congress and the RJD have lent an outside support to Chief Minister Madhu Koda.

This operation, “Stop Mayawati”, has the sanction of BJP President Rajnath Singh, the sources said.

This would not only help Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to retain his Muslim support base but would also help the BJP and the SP to retain their respective core constituencies, a senior BJP leader from UP said.

The “Stop Mayawati” operation is expected to be launched immediately after the declaration of the UP Assembly election results, which is expected to throw up a hung Assembly once again with no party having an absolute majority.

The SP and the BJP are expected to emerge with at least 100 seats each and neither of the two would be in a position to form a government on their own, thus leading to this arrangement, the sources said.

Indications were that RLD leader Ajit Singh or Apna Dal leader Sonelal Patel or even a Muslim face may be projected as Chief Minister of the state with outside support of the BJP and the SP.
