There are some universities which are not approved by UGC they come in the category of fake universities.

There are total 24 universities which have been banned by UGC. Many universities are opening every year everywhere in India providing distance education and creating confusion in student’s mind that this University is fake or genuine.

So, candidates must check out the UGC Fake University List which is declared by the UGC before selecting any University for study.

UGC seems to be a toothless tiger - it merely prepares the list rather than taking legal action against these fake universities who are cheating the innocent aspirants. Before I completed my graduation in Jan 2006, I read the news around 2005 that UGC has not approved the SOL (school of open learning) and I felt little terrified that who is going to consider me as an incumbent. But, with the rushing news UGC came on screen to give us the confidence back that we all are safe and SOL in under review of same, though it was under the governance of Delhi University either South or North Campus.

Similarly, fake list of universities has been uploaded long time back and a check on same is always updated but still if people are fooled by any, like, starting such institute in home without official campus and a valid stamp including the fake bodies producing such license, then people did not feel cheated.

UGC is going to be replaced by Higher Education Commission of India. Let's hope for a brand new set of canines.

Thanks for sharing the fake universities list. Students should be aware of this and must check UGC Approved Universities before applying in any university. UGC has listed approved universities by them and verifying same is candidates responsibility.
