I don't think liberty to move around on the earth will stop the competition, it will increase, as every one will have equal right to contribute to technologies, talented people living in the poor countries will have better opportunities to prove better.You have changed nothing here but the word "country" with "state". All the problems will still be there, only in between states now.
Also, if all the visa rules are relaxed or removed, there will be a general population shift from areas like Africa, India, Pakistan and China to Europe and America. The entire concept of competition will break down. Competition is one of the driving forces for growth and technological advances. Let's face it, the fact that a man has gone to moon and back is only because there was a strong competition going on in between the US and USSR at that time.

You are true it will be a big entity, but will not be difficult to manage as now we are fully armed with the latest technology. Those were the days people moved in ships and balgadi and by the time some one want to take action it becomes too late ,and communication was too too slow, now any thing can be done any corner of the earth, thanks to the internet and mobile phone technology.it will become too big an entity to manage .. It's better this way...
