Valentines Day!

The significance of the day and its impact on Indian youth are something which can be debated upon to any extent. But the fact which cant be denied is that the day and also the whole Valentine week for that matter is thinning out its root amongst the youth ! Its reach has widened and its presence has amplified. It has also become a big business arena and its vogue amongst the people cant be denied. Exchanging gifts, partying or just simply wishing each other on the occasion is in the process of becoming something very normal.

Lets talk about this in Indian context. Should the concept be discarded being something altogether alien to Indian ethnicity, or should it be accepted by transforming its epitome in somewhat Indian comportment or is its present face acceptable as it is?

Well Mukesh, as far as I can perceive many kind of festivals are celebrated with the underlying idea being providing a platform to people to relive the moments of mutual happiness and coming together of the people by taking time out of their busy schedules.

Everyone is so packed up and busy with their lives and some days of festivity bless us with a set date, which can be associated with a set purpose. The Indian festivals like karva-chauth, rakshabndhan etc are also such festivals aiming just at giving an occasion to atleast sit together and share happy moments !

In normal days, the people are so struck in their work that if you ask them to take a day out to go somewhere, the plan is put at hold saying "abhi dekhte hain .....nahi... jab time milega to dekhenge...." etc, but when people know in advance ki 4 din baad holi hai to unka dimaag aur dil thoda sa holimay ho jaata hai ! Tab kuch aise sochte hain "Haan 4 din baad holi hai to aaj hi jaakar ye kar aata hu....fir waha bhi jaana hai na.... " Thoda sa 'compulsive yet happy break' mil jaata hai

The same thing applies to this also, but yes it depends on many factors, the most important being not looking at it just as a day, but really understanding its meaning and not keeping at hold our beliefs !

I think Valentine's Day can be fun for people who have someone to celebrate with.
But it can be the exact opposite for people who don't.
I honestly think that We don't need one day out of the year to show your love for another,
I think it should be like that ALL the days of the year....

जैसे कुछ वर्षों पहले भारतीय सुंदरियाँ मिस वर्ड या मिस यूनिवर्स चुनी जाती रही हैं....उनमे सभी सुन्दरता के हिसाब से शायद इस लायक नही थी...लेकिन उसके पीछे एक व्यापारिक सोच काम कर रही है.....चूकें भारतवर्ष एक जनसंख्या प्रधान देश है....अतः कासमैटिक बनाने वाली कम्पनियों के लिये भारत से अच्छी और विशाल मार्किट कही नही है....इसलिये दो-चार को पहना दिया विश्व-सुन्दरी का ताज....और आज उस ताज के बदले में कासमैटिक कम्पनियाँ भारतीय बाजार को दोनों हाथों से लूट रही हैं । कोई तीन महीने मे गौरा बनाने का दावा कर रहे है तो कोई छः महीने में....? अगर ऐसा होता तो आजतक अमीर लोगों की तो भैंस तक भी गौरी-चीटी हो जाती......औरतों की तो बात ही क्या....?

आज का नौजवान.....हर वक्त मौज-मस्ती चाहता है.....वैलन्टाइन्स तो एक बहाना भर है। जैसे पीने वाले को पीने का बहाना चाहिये...ठीक ऐसे ही आज की युवा पीढी को मौज-मस्ती का बहाना चाहिये.......संस्कार गये भाड में......?

वैलन्टाइन्स नै तो हमारी कल्चर है...और न ही हमारे संस्कार हैं।

This is absolutely right that many a newer trends emerging with a big face, like the presence of India being highlighted in global level beauty pageants is influenced with the desire of getting a fat new market, but this also cannot be denied that we are responsible for letting them do their will.

Why to talk of Valentiones day then, even the Indian festival of Karva-chauth has been turned to be a profit churning machine ! The women who didnt used to observe fast have started observing it, thanks to the whole Indian television going mad over the festival, whether their script demands or not, but an episode dedicated to karwa-chauth becomes indispensable ! Now, observing a fast has acquired a meaning of a must have mehndi, make-ups done, jewellery, gifts, a beauty parlour spree and of course new shining clothes are the first priority ! Now, Indian culture never spoke that too ! It never said that this festival had to be a big monetary blow on the husband's pocket !

The thing is that commercialisation is on a high not because of introduction of Valentines day, but just because people are getting money but are still lacking a head that can guide them properly towards its fruitful usage.

Fact is that people get lured after such things easily and get ready to spend ! The businessmen dont come and take out the money from their pocket, but yes they leave no stone upturned to lure them, facinate them and brain wash them, and thats their job ! Who is to be blamed now?

Today every feeling or relation is being associated with materialistic show off… pehle jab diwali aur holi hoti thi to log pyar se ek dusre ke ghar ja ke chawal kha ke aur kushiya mana lete the aur sach batawo to itna apna pan lagta tha ki jaise sare ek hi ghar ke hoo….

Lakin aaj to agar kisi ke ghar ja rehe ho to sath maie gift le ke jana jaruri hai nai to bol denge ki formality karne aya hai.. kisi ko card dekar wish nai kara to bi apko unsocial declare kar diya jayega… no matter how much do you love or how much do you care for someone if you are not showing it then it may be assumed that you don’t love…

Lakin agar ache se gift de diye aur do char cards bejdiye to samne wale kin ajar maie aap bhot caring ho chahe piche se hazar galiya dete hoo
