victims of 498A

There is an old couple who walk by my home in the evenings, holding each other's hand. One can see the love they have for each other and that they are comfortable expressing it in public. Some people may call touching each other affectionately in public obscene. It is a matter of perspective.

Regards,

Urmila.

There is a difference in holding hand by an old couple and touching and kissing . Anyway its not a matter of an individual's perspective Its a matter of law. Feel free to challenge it in supreme court. Sanjay bhai is a lawyer, you can consult him on this.

Perception is quite an interesting concept.
Episode:A couple having ice cream at India Gate had to pay a policeman money for whatever reason.

1) Perception 1: Believe the couple, and take action to check the policeman. And, public will stand by a woman and come to support the couple. If the couple was indeed wrong, the public will insist that the policeman file a report.
2) Perception 2: Believe that the couple was doing wrong in public, so the policeman had every right to uphold justice and demand money.
3) Perception 3: Believe that you get what you deserve, and law is just. For example: The little girl who was molested and killed deserved it because her parents
did not teach her well or she did not listen to them. Or, Ruchika Girhotra, probably she encouraged all that attention, or her parents hired an incompetent lawyer initially.

When we see a girl/woman being ill treated, do we get so caught up in analysing if she deserves it, whether she belongs to our community or not, what ideally should be done, what you would have done? Is that why India has been listed so high in the world for ill treatment of woman? Because we suffer from inaction on account of analysis paralysis?

Apne ghar ki safai khud hi karni padya kare.....bahar aala koi nahi bata k jaawe ki thara ghar ganda hai.......Jiske upar atyachar hoya kare usi ko bhugatna padta hai or usi ko awaj uthani padti hai. Doosra k bharose kab tak baithe rahoge.

Policeman have every right to uphold justice but not demand money. If he demands money you have every right to oppose.....now dont give excuse that how can i raise voice against a policeman or law.

This is a different case. Not related to this situation

You are right. A person herself/himself takes the steps for her/his own betterment, but every little support from whoever-friend/neighbour/family helps too.
Sateypal Sir captured it so beautifully in his post, every aspect of what is still right in our culture.
1) He encouraged the girl/couple to confront the wrong doing "themselves".
2) He expected the public to come to her/their support.
3) He wanted to check the wrong doing by the policeman.
4) He cared first for humanity, and then probably would have thought about the law book of the country.

Kharb Sahab , aapne ek purani kahawat to suni hogi " Dhol, gawar, shoodra, pasu, nari, ye sab tadan ke adhikari" In sab ko agar ham jyada dheel dete hain to ve uska fayda uthate hain. ladies ko jo rules ke hisab se pawar mili hai uska kahin na kahin istemaal to karengi hi.
(Dhol, gawar, shoodra, pasu, nari, ye sab tadan ke adhikari" ye kahawat is context me sahi baithti hai, but all ladies Pls don't take my comment so serious.)

aa kahawat to ab kisi kaam ki koni reyi bhai sunil.Ekla dhol pite rakho baaki gawar shoodra pasu or nari ke haat lagane ki bhi joorarat na kar bethiyo khamkha panga gal ma ghal ja ga.......

Yes and people should be mindful of the local laws. Such things are legally and culturally "OK" in western countries but in India its illegal.

vipin bhai thari aa baat to dumdaar lage.......10000 to kaafi moti riswat ho jave er ita pissa me to police station me beth kar khao icecream......
