No. 1 - Thumbs up !

Seems to me you are lacking the IQ to ask any question...Aman has asked the right question I don't see anyting wrong with his question, he never said he was Indian citizen, He has always been forthcoming that he is American born with Indian Lineage. He just wants to know more about his lineage. Do you know the kind of pressure Indian Kids face from their peers about their lineage when their school curriculum is filled with Major Bull S*it of arcane, euro centric history where Leonard Nimoy aka Mr. Spock of Star Trek TV series made a documentary about Sun Temples of Konark and Ajanta Ellora caves of India and called them, "Indians are perverted Sex Maniacs who sculpted Pornography in their temples" that gave ammunition to all the christian evangalicals like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson to pronounce Hindus and Hindu religion as heathens whose soul must be saved by converting them to christianity. Can you imagine how embarassing and humiliating can it be for young men who is taught to be proud of his lineage at home and completely opposite is shown to him in his school. Do you or can you imagine the conflicts of young mind that is conflicted to find their own identity. Western Countries raise their students to be creators and thinkers not some किताबी कीडे.
Please for heavens sake don't come back with some imbecille comment like...they deserve it for not living in India or something total ignorant like that

Note: Aman and I may have our differences but you are not going to beat that kid with your anathema of psuedo Patriotism, Seems like more and more people who got their visa application rejected to migrate or work in western country are coming out with venomous bilth.

You are one of those ignorant people who don't know anything about outside world but eager to make tall judgments and hide behind your disingenous patriotism. By law only US citizens are allowed to work in extremly high tech industries that are classified as part of National Security of United States. Only time foreign nationals are allowed to become part of Space Travel is when it serves the foreign policy goals of America. Secondly, India still doesn't have and didn't have any viable means of space travel, with current effort space travel of Indian in Desi Space Vehicle is at best 5 years away from becoming operational forget about having something like space shuttle. What's wrong if Kalpana Chawla came to US, worked diligently and got selected for NASA Program. It is a highly coveted honor alot of people keep trying for it all their life and they can't get it. NASA space program only takes 'Creme de la Creme'You don't feel proud of her and others like her that is indeed pitiful, you have nothing else to be proud of. This honor is so high profile, watched and admired worldwide for its altruism. Didn't know you had such myopic perspective...indeed pitiful. It only shows you are prisoner of your dogma who treads the shallow waters who is afriad to explore the depths of challenges and adventures of life.
i reckon posts like these as one in thousand. very matured nd full of experience (esp. 1st para). indeed, it gives a true meaningful purpose to the portal called JATland... बाकी रहे सूंडू और भूंडू के किस्से, वा तो चालते हे रहेंगे... well they too are the essence of JATland.

mr. dhull, it carries no essence if yr PP is infested with 100 visa's. who knows out of them, 90 visa's are of burma, somalia, combodia or haiti or some other pig-shyt country. dont try to take a detour. answer mr. karan vis-a-vis yr initial post, if your thoughts carry any substance.

thumbs up karan bhaisahab, you owe a lot to JATland + 'ers. it reminds me of an earlier post by one mr. anurag dahiya that stirred me from top to bottom (here is the link >>> http://www.jatland.com/forums/showt...e-he-is-in-now&p=206771&viewfull=1#post206771). (>>> pls. go on to read until # post 64 of mine).

p.s. : its a pity that this portal is shorn of such members (or/and those who left)... who knows tomorrow i might also leave... lol.

One more thing i wud like to add , one remark of mine regarding NRI's and everybody is furious and people abroad keep saying so many things about India and Indians that time ur blood never boils. see urself in the mirror.
Harjinder Bhai
who says our blood never boils when someone in western country says something about India, it sure does happen but we just don't share our anger we keep it composed. Try to understand the predicament of NRI or Foreign Nationals who are India Bhakt, we have to defend India while we are living in western country and have to defend the foreign country while we are in India or talking and sharing on Indian Forums. Its a very delicate balancing act almost like a juggling circus act to keep everyone in good humor. As far as pointing out the faults of India or being harsh there is a reason for that, things just don't improve in India regardless of how much money, effort, skill is expanded on it. I will give you few examples....
1. People say and so does this God Forsaken Media (Shoot them all) India's energy infrastructure is so poor it will take 30-40 years to bring it to level where there is no energy shortage nothing could be furhter from truth. One of the major reason for this power shortage is the Coal Mafia that steals all the high quality coal and through their well oiled channels it is exported to china whilst Indian Power Plants get inferior quality coal that has high content of ash hence reducing the energy output and increasing the maintenance cost and lower production.
2. India and France signed the deal for 6 Scorpene Diesel Electric submarines for navy, French were ready to transfer technology to Mazgaon Dock Limited, guess what MDL and the Marathi Manoos sat on their fat Rear Ends, all the while the contractual stipulations expired, India ended up paying $400 Million Dollars more to absorb all the technology. Lack of modern equipment prevented India from Striking Pakistan after 26/11 Massacare. Pakistanis have approx 3-5 Brand New Agosta subs they are far superior than anything India has in her arsenal. Half of Indian submarines are not battle worthy and other half are so obsolete they will be sunk by pakistanis within first days of war.
Pakistanis know our weakness, Musharraf gave a speech to Pakistanis Military Academy in 1997 saying, India is on a very weak wicket and time has come to turn up the execution of our strategy of thousand cuts because India doesn't have the military might and Intelligence assets to strike against us in forseeable future. He was correct and still he is correct.

Do you think rest of the world doesn't see this cowardice and we who are living and breating in foreign country has to swallow our pride every time someone makes a joke about about Kashmir issue, India's lack of response after 26/11 massacare. Their question what good is a nation that can't protect her citizens, why keep the facade of bravery when you are such cowards. Mind it, they say it with smile and that smile strikes like a dagger in our heart.

Now What do you think............?????????????????

Mr Dhull, my views inline....

Dear mr sailendra ,
Angoor khaatein nahin hai , mere passport mein itni visa stamp kii aap soch bhi nahi sakte , farak itna hai mein India mein rehta hoon aur dollar mein hii earn karta hoon.

par earn dollar mei hi karna hai??? passport mei stamp bhi lagwani hai?? why theese double standards?

i can very well settle anywhr but i love my country . only difference is i know all the problems in India starting from marathi manoos , narrow minded thinking to growing population. the whole world is racist be it malaysians , chinese , japnese , germans or Americans. there are bad people who are selfish but that doesnt mean we run away from here bcos there are problems.

Who told you that people abroad are runaways?? people go out to seek work, for unemployment... people move out from village to cities, from UP, Bihar to Punjab and Maharashtra, from India to abroad... people have mouths to feed and for that they have to earn your livlihood... Who are jats by the way?? Are not Jats assumed to have come from somewhere in central europe?

may bhi my name is non exitent at the moment . one word for you --- Charity begins at home and when one leaves his/her home he cant do anything except earning a good life for himself.

Bhai, yahan apni samasya itni hai ki charity ka na time hai ar na itna paisa. you must have been born with silverspoon and you are anyway earning in dollars sitting in India, so perhaps you can.

what i m doing in India whether farting or some good work that time will tell.

Time will tell nothing. Kisi ko koi farak nahi padta ki tu kya kar raha hai or kya karega.... You are just one out of 110 crore people we have in India, and so am I. Nobody cares.

i m a indian and i m very racist about it.
So am I. Hona bhi chahiye, par iska yeh matlab nahi ke apne andar jhaankna chod de, sachai se door bhagate rahe.

i will try my best that one day i see americans as taxi drivers in saddii dilli.
Bhai yeh kabhi nahi hoga, kam se kam tere ya mere lifetime mei to nahi... US is superpower, unke paas world war II mei aircraft carriers ki fleets, submarines etc thee. or hamare paas aaj tak nahi hai. Hamse olympic mei ek gold tak nahi jeeta jaata. Just name one person in India who has done something for which he is known in last 2 - 3 decades. I am not asking about Gandhi. That was in a different generation now. Hamara sari economy US or European economy par depend karti hai. Subah uthkar tum jis colgate se daant saaf karte ho woh bhi foreign company ka hai.

wait n watch till than i stick to dhobi kee----- no offences
No, you keep waiting and keep wailing like a dhobi ka kutta jo ghaat par chut gaya hao..... no offences.

there could be some kind of fear and insecurity because of inability that's why they leave.
Diclaimer- krapya videsho me jo baith hain vo bura na mane, mera vichar kisi ki bhavnavo ko thes pahuchana nhi hai.

Most of the IITians leave India, so u think that is because of inability or insecurity. Do you think everyone who are abroad they just got dropped there?? Do you know a Doctor who gets his MBBS from India can not practice abroad untill he clears very tough examinations again? Kabhi kunwe se bhi bahar niklo or aas paas dekhi, kis duniya mei rah rahe ho?

Self Denial of problems is a most potent weapon for loosing any war.

Lets go through some incidents in our country in last decade (In last decade, we started realizing that India is a super developed and super rich country):

26/11 Mumbai Attacks: 10 Militants with some formal weapon training kept whole city on hostage for 55 hours. Top police officers were killed due to lack of proper bullet-proof jackets.

Indian authorities were not even able to jam their phones to restrict the damage. Is this the development we are talking about???

Khoon kholta hai hamari level of preparation dekh kar...

Kashimir Valley Protests: Everyday handful of youths protesting in valley, Attacking CRPF jawans(more than 1000 CRPF personnel injured in last 3 years), Burning their vehicles. We don't have any information about who is instigating the crowd. How agitations are starting in 10 districts simultaneously.

We know the Kashmir problem from ages and but why we are not building up spying network and informants among locals to control this menace.

Gujarat Blasts, Mumbai Train Blasts, Delhi Blasts, HUJI, SIMI issues
: we know some fundamentalist organizations are creating these problems, Do govt has any policy to keep Muslims in main stream.. I read 100 times in newspaper that they got hold of master mind and then after some time they found another master mind. US/UK had terrorist attacks but they learned from them and they are keeping very tight vigil on the list of suspicious people.

Kargil Conflict: It took us more than 2 months to thwart the Pakistani attack and it took more than month to understand the presence of foreign elements in our territory.

Major projects (Road, Rail, Ports) are running years behind their schedule, rampant corruption. Cost of project are increasing many fold but still no concrete plan to handle the situation.

I love my country as much as anybody else here. However, Its frustrated that how govt has not accountability of their deeds. How come we can live in self denial and how come we can keep on chanting that we are moving in right direction.

Weapon moderisation program is pending from decades. LCA cost increased more than 10 times, We are buying used aircraft cariers from Russia, No replacement for aging Bofors... Armed forces are suffering from rampant corruption.

Why we are ashamed in accepting these facts and work with policy makers to bridge these gaps..

Ek aisi company kaa naam batado jo apne Innovation kaa khati hai::

1. Sarri IT companies dalali karti hain. Compare Oracle with Infosys (same number of employees but Oracle makes almost 5-6 times more revenue). Both companies started operations almost same time in 1980s
2 Reliance ne mauka dekh ke refinery laga lee (All Shell or Exxon technology)

Where is innovation?? We are not dumb people. Only problem is we have started thinking that we did amazing job and lets take some rest now..

With due respect to all (who have recent posts here) I just want to react what I have found something distasteful.
First as a fellow JLer, I will advise Mr. HS Dhull that if he has so much love and respect for his country then he should express that in logical words and not in saying obnoxius words to any one.
The other thing I found distasteful is Mr. Karan's this line that Pakistan have an edge over India in military power. I am not going to indulge in any arguement as to which country has what, I just want to say that we have beaten them 4 times and it is useless to say such things till the score goes atleast 4 : 1 (If they ever be able to do so). Don't forget the daily figures of dead terrorist in valley (much more than the dead armymen).
Uff! this good for nothing Shiv Sena. I want to say that if I am slapped by my brother in my home then it's another thing but if some outsider does so then it's other case (be it his own home or area). North Indians have not been set ablaze here. Nor there are hundreds of such incidents per year.
One more such thing is from Mr. Vijay. Vijay Ji I have read in some post that you have been overseas in past and wish to settle in future too. Mate it is not a good home work you are doing these days. You want to work in abroad, good, you move but what's the need of criticising our country to prepare yourself to head to abroad. As far as no great person in last 2 or 3 decades is concerned then I would like to say if it was so easy to produce Gandhi like people per decade then such Gandhis wouldn't have any importance. A legend is not born per year or per decade.
Another obnoxius line was from Mr. Mor that we don't have any industry based upon our own innovation. I want to ask which country has the industries (all) based upon their own innovation. If there is any, then it must not be having all industries based upon their own innovations. The whole world is serving each other. If we have taken something from the others then we have given something to the others too. Here the importance of 'ZERO' signifies (though there are many other such things too).
With best regards.

NRIs

Mr. Dhull's comments about NRIs are really very offensive. Given the opportunity, majority of Indians would like to go abroad in search of better future except for a few like Mr. Dhull.. There is, however, no question that NRIs go abroad in seach of greener pastures, they are contributing to a great extent to country's Foreign Exchange reserves and the growth of our economy. It is a matter of proud for India that its professionals are much sought after in developed countries. Mr Dhull's views are a manifestation of his narrow mindedness and myopic vision. I endorse Shri Braham Tewatia's view on this subject.

I endorse the views expressed by Shri Yudhvir Mor to a great extent. There is no question we all love our motherland but the fact is that there is mismanagement all around. Mr. More has rightly pointed out that our intelligence network has failed in gathering timely and precise intelligence to thwart the terrorist attacks. It is also true that there is lot of bungling in defence deals. Inspite of an iron curtain, several scams involving senior defence officers have come to light in the past. The much hyped economic growth also seems to be a statistical jugglery. Even if the data of GDP growth as published by government are true, the benefits of growth are not tangible in the rural India. The dividends of economic growth have not trickled down to the economically backward sections of society, especially the ruralites. The pace of infrastructure building is very slow. Corruption is rampant everywhere. There conditions of roads is very poor. Even smaller countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore which got independence from colonial master UK much later than India are far ahead of India in many respects, especially in infrastructure. So we should stop boasting of our greatness or cultural heritage etc etc. Culturally also, there has been a fast degradation over the decades. Let us focus on how to improve the situation to keep pace with the fast changing world.

Nothing better than India. Being a Indian i supposed that it is my duty to preach, praised and love my country. People all over the world will recognise this fact one day. India is the best country to live unique culture, people, atmoshphere, brotherhood etc etc.
Even those who are critizing indian and indians or preaching Westren Countries as per my own thinking they do not have calibre, ability to do something and to became sucessful among a population of more than 100 Cr. there could be some kind of fear and insecurity because of inability that's why they leave.

This is called Fugly......

In these 2 images we can see 3 persons and I find only one ugly (or fugly) out of these 3. Nigger in blue pant seems fugly to me. The kind lady he is trying to hug, is someone's daughter who (unlike sons generally) will take care of her parents in need. She is someone's sister and someone's would be life partner and mother. As woman is soft natured so that lady will not cheat, kill, rob or harass others, as men do generally. The old lady on right is also very nice looking. She can go up to any extent to feed her children. And when she will die, her children will miss her affection. A affection which can not be bought in this world at any cost.
My mother and father are in their 70s. When my mother (some years back) and father (some months back) fell ill then I realized first time in my life the value of the parents.

What one ALSO likes about India...

...is the freedom to openly indulge and practise the immense pride (only in a positive way, mind you) that folks are allowed to carry about their own States and at a regional level...

Here's one example:

Dancer and activist Mallika Sarabhai, recently in an open letter to superstar Amitabh Bachchan, has asked him what prompted his decision to endorse Brand Gujarat.

She begins, “My dear Bachchanji, Greetings from a Gujarati. You are indeed a fine actor. You are an intelligent man and a shrewd businessman. But should I believe in your endorsements?”

“Let’s take a brief look at what you proclaim you believe in (albeit for huge sums of money). BPL, ICICI, Parker and Luxor pens,Maruti Versa, Cadbury chocolates. Nerolac paints. Dabur, Emami, Eveready, Sahara City Homes, D’damas, Binani Cement and Reliance. And now Gujarat.”

She asks if his house is built with Binani Cement, whether he really likes Cadbury’s chocolates and Dabar’s hajmola, which pen he uses, and if he has ever been driven or been driven in a Versa outside the shoot, and finally, if is aware that the “Nerolac paint in your home (you do use it don’t you?) has lead in it that can poison you slowly as it does so many people?” She questions if those decisions were monetary.

Sarabhai also wonders what prompts his endorsements, particularly Gujarat, since there was reportedly no direct fees paid to the actor. She doubts Bachchan has been following up on the state’s progress. She writes, “So, with no monetary decision to guide you, how did you decide to say yes? Did you check on the state of the State? I doubt it, for the decision and the announcement came from one single meeting. And I somehow doubt that you have been following the news on Gujarat closely.”

“So, as a Gujarati, permit me to introduce my State to you. Everyone knows of our vibrancy, of the billions and trillions pouring into our State through the two yearly jamborees called Vibrant Gujarat. But did you know that by the government’s own admission no more than 23% of these have actually moved beyond the MOU stage? That while huge subsidies are being granted to our richest business houses, over 75000 small and medium businesses have shut down rendering one million more people jobless?”

“You know of Gujarat’s fast paced growth and the FDI pouring in, you have no doubt seen pictures of the Czars of the business world lining up to pour money to develop us. To develop whom? Did you know that our poor are getting poorer? That while the all India reduction in poverty between ’93 and 2005 is 8.5%, in Gujarat it is a mere 2.8%? That we have entire farmer families committing suicide, not just the male head of the household?”

She adds, “You have heard of how some mealy mouthed NGO types have been blocking the progress of the Narmada project, how the government has prevailed, and water is pouring down every thirsty mouth and every bit of thirsty land. But did you know that in the 49 years since it was started, and in spite of the Rs.29,000 crores spent on it, only 29% of the work is complete?”

“That the construction is so poor (lots of sand added to the you-know-which cement perhaps) that over the last 9 years there have been 308 breaches, ruining lakhs of farmers whose fields were flooded, ruining the poorest salt farmers whose salt was washed away? That whereas in 1999, 4743 of Gujarat’s villages were without drinking water, within two years that figure had gone up to 11,390 villages? (I cannot even begin to project those figures for today – but do know that the figure has gone up dramatically rather than down.)”

She adds scathingly, “With our CM, hailed as the CEO of Gujarat, we have once again achieved number one status – in indebtedness. In 2001, the State debt was Rs.14,000 crores. This was before the State became a multinational company. Today it stands at Rs.1,05,000 crores. And to service this debt we pay a whopping Rs 7,000 crores a year, 25% of our annual budget.”

“Meanwhile, our spending on education is down, no new public hospitals for the poor are being built, fishermen are going a begging as the seas turn turgid with effluents, more mothers die at birth per thousand than in the rest of India, and our general performance on the Human Development Index is nearly the first – from the bottom. One rape a day, 17 cases of violence against women, and, over the last 10 years, 8,802 suicides and 18,152 ‘accidental’ deaths of women are officially reported. You can imagine the real figures.”

Sarabhai reminds Bachchan that he said the Somnath temple and Gandhi inspired him to endorse Gujarat. But, she questions, “Somnath was built for people. Gandhiji was a man of the people. Do the people of this State matter to you? If they do, perhaps your decision will be different. I hope you will read this letter and decide.”.....
