A good article on India

From Third World country to third most powerful nation

WASHINGTON: Hard as it is to imagine it amid the chaos of Commonwealth Games preparations in New Delhi and a million small mutinies across the country, an official US report has declared India to be the fourth most powerful nation/bloc in the world after the United States, China, and the European Union.
Issued jointly by the US National Intelligence Council (NIC) and the European Union's Institute for Security Studies (EUISS), the report "Global Governance 2025" says the United States remains the world's most powerful country in 2010, accounting for nearly 22 per cent of the global power.
It is followed by China (12 per cent), and India (eight per cent). Japan, Russia and Brazil with less than five per cent each. Taken as a bloc, European Union comes second with 16 per cent of global power.
But an "International Futures model" measuring GDP, defense, spending, population and technology for individual states projects the relative political and economic clout of many countries will shift by 2025. The power of the US, EU, Japan and Russia would decline while that of China, India and Brazil would increase, even though there would be no change in the power list.
By 2025, the United States' share of global power would decline from 22 per cent to 18 per cent, while China would rise up from 12 per cent to 16 per cent to displace EU (down to 14 per cent), making U.S and China as close 1-2. India will remain in third or fourth positions (depending on whether EU bloc is counted in or not) with its share of global power going up to ten per cent.

The 82-page report is the product of research and analysis by the NIC and EUISS following a series of international dialogues co-organized by the Atlantic Council, TPN, and other partner organizations in Beijing, Tokyo, New Delhi, Pretoria, Sao Paulo & Brasilia, Moscow, and Paris with unnamed officials and strategic experts.
The report shows growing concern among Indian officials and analysts about China as they worry about an ''absence of an internal equilibrium in Asia to ensure stability.'' India, they concede, is not well positioned to help develop regional institutions for Asia given China's preponderant role in the region.
As a result, the report says, India is primarily interested in transforming global governance institutions. ''The Indians thought existing international organizations are 'grossly inadequate' to deal with mounting challenges...Many hoped the United States would continue to be very much part of the Asian region as a political, economic, and military power,'' the report observes.
It also cites some Indian experts fearing that a system developed by the West, which includes democracy and rule of law, would suffer as the East (read China) becomes more powerful. ''It would be a pity if the West does not hang together to influence the future,'' an Indian interlocutor is quoted as saying.

GDP, vdp t kuchh na hota bhai. jab tak vo kamaaya hod paisa dhang ki jagah na kharch hove to uska koye faayda nahi. kutte billi ki tarah aadmi mar ja hai ar baat kare ranking ki. Did you know India has more poor people than 26 poorest African nations??

Some bad but many goodies......

There r many things that i like about my country:
1)Indian culture where people value relations (better than other countries)
2)Climate (Variety of seasons to enjoy)
3)Landscape (rural urban mix)
4)Mangeable cost of living and easy going life style

Quite an interesting topic....after traveling to a couple of countires i realized that no other country can be better than India (even if its far advanced, neat and clean, with better weather or financially stronger than India)....one doesn't need to find any reason to like one's own country but it comes naturally....but still i will try to express in finer way why i love India despite the fact that it is run by the corrupt govt system, its judiciary system is as slow as a snail,it has povery, its over populated and a lot more reasons...first person we come close to in our lives is mother....Even if a mother is ugly,to a child she is the most beautiful lady on the earth....and human beings consider their nation as their second mother....so its obvious we feel close to our motherland even if sitting thousand miles away.

Floods in Delhi!
Bomb blast in Delhi!
Over-bridge collapsed!
Ceiling of the weight Lifting venue collapsed
Sanitation canditions are bad in the Games Village!
Nothing seems to be ready
Some top players pullig out of the games !

But....

In spite of all this, every single Indian is hopeful and sure of the success of these games! Isn't it a unique spirit?
The spirit to move on against all odds!
I love and feel proud of this spirit of India!

Hon'ble Sateypal Ji, that so called flood was not less than any boon as almost all North Indian dams were running out the water quicky and water level in earth was also decreasing continously. Now the things have gone better. All dams are full with water for power generation. By organizing CWG in a great way India have shown that we have got some special in us, our capabilities have increased miraculously.

Another thing I like about India is plenty of sunlight here. Almost whole India enjoys blue sky throughout the year. When I was an student, my school Principal told this to the students in prayer. Once some foreigner met the Principal and told him that he was very impressed to see the sunshine in India. He further said that India had a lot of garbage, but because of plenty of sunshine the negativity of garbage decreased.

All parts of the world are not fortunate enough to have so much blue and clear sky. In Europe, sun has become a sweet dream now-a-day as whole Europe is down with snow fall woes.

Some one raised a questions about how can you not be from India and yet be Indian - I am in a similar situation. Nationality/passport is diff from race. E,g, One can be an Aussie citizen of Indian race.

Now coming to what I like about India (wish the video was in Haryanvi, but at last its about jats and gets the message across), watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3B4ZHcDQZk

Thank God, such scenes are not seen in India. Don't know why can't these foreigners separate themselves from the animals...

More than 5,000 people have shed their clothing on the steps of the Sydney Opera House to pose for a photograph by the American artist Spencer Tunick.

The organisers had only expected about half that number to take part.

The installation had been commissioned by the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, which took place over the weekend.

For once the eye was diverted away from the magnificent white sails of the Sydney Opera House.

It was drawn instead to the tableau of naked flesh assembled on its steps.
"Gay men and women lay naked next to their straight neighbours and this delivered a very strong message to the world that Australians embrace a free and equal society," Tunick said.

More than 5,000 men and women shed their clothing - people of all ages, shapes and sizes, who were undeterred by the chilly pre-dawn weather on this, the first morning of the southern autumn.
Tunick, famed for his snapshots of mass nudity in public spaces, had been commissioned by the organisers of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, which took place over the weekend.
The naked models included a pregnant woman, who went straight to hospital afterwards to give birth, and a television weatherman whose viewers got to see considerably more than his usual Monday morning forecast.
