Dear friends what is your view on this important issue.
The conviction rate is well below 15 per cent. There is reluctance by the authorities concerned to give maximum punishment under the existing law. If death penalty is included in the statute book, it would be a guarantee to further leniency because no one pronounces a death sentence. Secondly, it would increase the vulnerability of the rape victim to murder.

Dudee Uncle, death penalty can not solve this problem. Death penaly is not the solution of this most inhuman crime. You r right that it would increase the vulnerability of the rape victim to murder.

The main problem is that the conviction rate is very low. There should be a limited time period in which court has to make the judgement. As i think 4-5 months is enough to hear a case.

Death penalty is not a solution, only higher conviction rate can help to tackle this problem.

Giving death to him in Jail, is not very good in my eyes.

He shld be hanged publicly n then should be left for dogs.

so that other wil learn te lesson n wont dare to do such inhuman activity.

Dogs are not enogh ....hawks also hv to share the body of such craped people!!!

I suggest... Rapists going ahead coz there is support from somewhere...may be due to high family backgroung so Kill like a dog other people also who are supporting them !!!

N Police law is not solution coz mostly police also craped.......if anybody does wait for police its signal of foolishness ..Kill them directly like a dog without thinking anymore!!!

For God sake let us not talk of this instantaneous justice where there is no daleel, no apeal, no vakeel. In any civilised society there is a law of the land which has to deal with crime of any type. How about if some one is falsely implicated and then put to death in public without even listening to him?? Let us not talk of these medivial methods of dispensing justice. This is what is happening in may villages when upper caste girls get married to so called lower caste boy and the girl is paraded naked in the village.. Rapist should certainly be punished but after duly verifying the truth of the matter, else there are high chances of the law being misused.

My top 2 reasons for NO death penalty for rapists:
1) It will not end the further rapes.
2) Death is an easy end for rapist.

My top 2 reasons for an alternative form of justice:
1) Rapist should accept the guilt and resposibility for the crime from the heart. The person should not only apologise to the victim, but to the whole society.
2) Rapist should also feel and live the pain of the victim. They should be paying back every minute, till the end of there life.

Top 2 things that the community can do:
1) Give all the love and support to the victim. Do not punish the victim again by being just a mute onlooker or by making them untouchables and shutting them out of our life.
2) The community should not brush the crime under the carpet as dirt. The community in no way should glorify or accept rape for any reason, even as means for revenge or punishment...there is no exceptions...a crime is a crime is a crime.

The current law is good enough if implemented properly, the only problem is implementation and not the law itself. Here instead of focussing on changing the laws we should rather focus on the chaning the attitude of society. Fine, initially there might be a wave of sympathy for the the victim, but in long term, why is the 'victim' victimised more by the society as if somewhere she too was at fault.

This is sad but a true fact...the victim is really the one punished...condemned for the whole life..not even death to the rapist brings any solace to her...let the society change attitudes...
