What Should be the Minimum Standard of Language on this Site

Dear All,
It has been extremely painful to see the language used by some memebers on the discussion on the post "Are Jats Really Brave..."
I would like to invite the discussion on the language used by some members in their posts.
Kindly contribute and do let us know what should be the minimum standard of language to be used on our site. Can Freedom of Expression go that far as in the above discussion?

I would stick to the language I can use in my family. In fact, I do have family members visiting this site.

This is also because this is a site where we personally know each other. Most of us are using are real identities.

Yes, if you use a languange in your family (with your Mom, your Dad, brothers and sisters) then go ahead and use it on this site. I may actaully learn a thing or two on what should I be using in my family. I certainly don't want me and my family to be left behind.

I agree with Col Tevatia. However, I also request everyone to be more careful before posting anything. I think the subject of the topic 'Are Jats really brave' was itself a big problem. Mr Rajinder should admit this, just because of this unacceptable topic he landed up in a huge problem. He is such an experience person; we expected lot more of maturity from him. I am impressed with Col Tevatia the way he handled the issue. He kept silent when things were getting hot. This is a sign of intelligent person. On the other hand Mr Rajinder was constantly giving illogical reason to support him self and now he is saying I am ready to face regal action. It is the same situation which Satinder mentioned. Every body knows he is brave but to prove himself brave he invited Satinder to take legal action against him.

NOW TELL ME IS IT STUPIDITY OF BRAVERY?

I aplogize if I have insulted anyne.

Once in a while we will come across people who will use any language and I don't think we should worry about too much. Such cases can be delt with on individual basis and there is no need to set a moral code on language or on subject matter. By enlarge most members are decent and we should continue sharing our views in our natural language.

Once that norm is observed, rest is a matter of opinions and free speech. We simply have to respect that on a public platform, otherwise the entire outlook and results of our efforts would change.”

Surely enough, authors do get emotional at times. However, with calmness the use of ‘Socially objectionable words in written form on a public platform’ can certainly be avoided. In fact, by with the use of objectionable words we end up diluting our real message. Even in stressful situations, one can certainly find ways to get one’s message across and maintain decorum. Let me give an example.

You are mad at someone, and you have to say something. Instead of saying - assh*** or stupid, one can certainly remain within limits by saying - “I think you have gone crazy.” This phrase is usable in a family setting and gives the same message you intend.

N.B. Observing control on oneself in use of words would help moderators as well. They won’t have to work hard to take out the posts. Once the posts are out, even your good work is gone. How silly an outcome!

Now that the post has been removed by the moderators and some one is taking the matter to the court, let it stand there..

There is indeed a need to be careful of what we write and how we come across as individuals. It is so easy to be offensive and use words that irritate.

I believe the language used should be what I and you use with our sisters, brothers and friends, younger and older. And since most of us know and can place each other, the requirement to be humble and polite would be in everyone's interest.

Bhai maine to itne passion so 'Bravery' describe kari thee but what to do. Moderators are always right!!!

I completely disagrees on this. On web anonymity is very powerful. In majority of forums people keep their identity anonymous. Also, what if I am working as milk seller in mathura and my real name is satpal. Will you know who am I in that case? But in case I happen to work as PM in TCS, then there may be several members who will identify me. So, on one hand Satpal Doodhia is anonymous but on the other the TCS guy is not. Revealing the real identity will defeat the spirit of Internet itself and Jatland is not above that. Plus you have seen that when you register at a forum then they say that the site will not be revealing the private information. Here we are talking about revealing the privacy. This may land Jatland into legalland. Bhai yahan india mei to koi problem nahi hai but if the site is sued in USA then the site will have to be closed forever.
Isliye bhai anonymous rahne mei hi sabka hit hai. Jo log open mei aa gaye hain, woh sab bhi ab nakab ke peeche aa jao nahin to aap log yahan namuna to dekh hi rahe ho. Log baag kisi ko bhi stupid bol dete hain aajkal. Can you imagine what the childrens of a person will go through if they see that their father is being abused by fello intellectual jats?? Bhai bolne wale to muh pe bol dete hain. Gaam mei ja ke dekho, 2 saal ka balak bhi ma-behan ki gaali diye bina baat nahi karta aajkal. Isliye yeh mat socho ki members apna parichay de denge to kisi ko koi gaali nahi dega. Is site par jo vakil hai bas unki chaandi ho jayegi or kuch nahi. Apni izzat bachani ho to anonymous ho jao. Observation yahi hai ki genhu ke saath saath yahan ghun bhi pees jata hai.

Rajendra Sir u really have mastery over words, in the thread that was removed u criticised our forefahers for being too absorbed in themselves stated that jats should have sided with the erstwhile rulers like rajputs did ( we all know at wat cost that wud have been possible).............and now u say that any price is worth paying for one's convictions.........what a change of track.......

Dear Ramalia or who ever you may be.
One formula does not apply to every one. When some one asks your name would you rather not tell him your real name unless ofcourse there is some thing to hide.

Like every thing else there are Jats and Jats and those who feel comfortable being some one else must have good reasons in which we need not go.

It does require certain amount of openness to have others confidence. Secrecy breeds suspicion. Choice is yours and no one can or should try and pursuade you otherwise.

As far as the question of some one insulting you on Jatland is concerned there is a code of conduct which we all must follow to maintain healthy environment.

Varun, in today's world it is right that some flexibility is required to sustain & grow in competition, but that has a limit. This limit depends upon our traditions, our culture, our relationships & other family values.

Finally I would like to say , Either you should have command to control the situation , or just ready to bend little bit with the situation till you gain its control. But at last you must get its control.

May be my thoughts would be different from other members, but it is my individual experience.
