Hi all,
I was watching TV, yesterday and saw the news about the wheat import to our country. It is learnt that India has imported wheat from Australia. The quality of the wheat is a concern as it doest seem to be good as it is containing lots of weeds that are banned in INdia.
Also it is claimed that the wheat is not fit for human consumption. This is a serious threat to the farmers in India and a states like Haryana, Punjab and UP can be seriously hit if the government promotes this practise.
It was learnt that the country was short of wheat, so they did that. OK agreed !!, but at what cost .. they have paid more than the govt pays Indian farmer, approximately Rs 8000, per ton. If I am not wrong the govt. offers our Indian farmers Rs 7000, which is definately a question to be answered.
Though it was important to buy wheat, the question is still that why is the govt. not increasing the prices for Indian farmers and encouraging them and getting them equipped with the latest techniques.
I am sure someone is making a fortune out of this keeping aside the interest of Indian farmers.
I am not sure but i think this a topic we need to discuss.
So put in your thoughts.....
