I want to get input from everybody in defining ”Who are you?”

Do you think you are your body?
Or Do you think you are you mind?
Or Do you think you are your feelings?
Or something else?

Note: Please don’t take “you” as "yourself" but a generalization of an individual or being.

Its the combination of all the above(mind, body & soul).
when we combine all these things what we have is an individual.
THE BODY symbolises an individual, it shows our presence & represents us in the physical state.
THE MIND enables an individual to survive in this world.it controls d actions which the body does.through mind we learn new things n we remember old things.
THE FEELINGS OR THE SOUL decides our actions towards other humanbeings.which is very imp as we live in a society.love, care anger all come under this.

so we can say that all these are very vital elements for the existence of an individual.
but as far as the question goes "who are you?"
its v difficult to answer it.n if i start explaining then i will end up writing many books on it.
but in short we can say that we r what we do.

Body--> Changes with time.
Mind--> Changes with situations.
Feelings--> Changes with circumstances/emotions.

What is the part that doesn't change that represents you?

there is only 1 thing constant in life n that is change, rest every thing changes.

wonderful answer....new meaning to the word constant...which signifies the change...

How about putting you in mathematical form...

YOU=f(money, position, place, time,.......,presence of others in life in place and time.....)

as you can see, you are not an abstract identity. Your sum total at any time is a function of so many variables.In life there are no constants, all are variables and therefore you are also variable in strict terms. Till you remain variable, you are alive and you are what you are. The day you become constant and, you are dead...as sum total of everything on the right hand side becomes constant and represents your value which remain for ever...

Dear Neena Kharadwal ji and Rajendra Kumar Kalkhunde ji,

Thanks for your input. I agree to both your view points about "the change being the only constant thing".

But is there a "sutradar" for this change pattern? If so, what is it?

Thanks.

Dear Ishwar Singh Lamba ji,

I think you have a good point.

Thanks.

It is yourself, the self or atma, who is none of the body, mind or feeling

Bhai Sanjeev,

Very difficult question indeed!

All those who have found out as to "Who They Are" have achieved 'Nirvana'. Lessor mortals like me are searching the answer from I don't know how many births.

The answer may lie in in a simple statement like "I AM A SOUL WITH A BODY, NOT JUST BODY WITH A SOUL".

Col Sahib,
I am telling based on hearing lectures of others only. We say my body, my mind and my feelings. It means I am not body, I am not mind and I am not feelings. All my is temporary and only I is permanent. You say my hand, no body says I am hand.
I am still more mortal than u
regards

I am in you and you are in me...neither you are you nor I am me....this is the truth...there is no abtract truth..totality put together is what makes the reality....reality is a perception and perception can be an illusion...and illusion can be reality if it lasts your life time..

So protect your illusions....they are very useful assets...

Thanks Anuj, for sharing your view points.

As per my understanding, the five controlling characteristics of an individual are listed below. The percent amount differs from individual to individual.

1. Moy (function of emotions and age)
2. Maya (function of money and age)
3. Krodh (function of age)
4. Kaam (function of age)
5. Laalach (function of environment)
