Dear All,

As all of you may be aware that in Rajasthan farmers are sitting on Dharna (MAHAPADAV) from last seven days for the demand of electricity and water. In the rural area farmers are getting only 3-4 hours light which is not sufficient to fulfill the demand, where government is saying that we are providing 8-10 hours electricty continously. From the day when this government came into power not a single decision have been taken in favor of farmers. Instead of providing 6-7 hours light it has increased electricity rates by saying that Rajasthan is only one state which has lowest electricity reates for the rural area meanwhile government forget how these farmer will be able to deposit this increased electricity bill.

Now when they are protesting against government's decision then no body is there to listen them. There are two steps talk have been concluded so far between the government and farmer but still nothing could be decided.
one thing is clear ki bechare kisano ki koi nahi sunne wala. Hamari CM shaiba aram se sair sapate kar rehi hai and another side kisan is dhoop maie bhooke-pyase pade hai..... .

The most unfortunate part is that the local public of Jaipur has no sympathy for these farmers. Instead of the support they are saying that farmers are already getting too much attention from the government. Most of the part of light have been stolen by the farmers, but meanwhile these so called intellectual are unable to see the electricity stealing which is being done in Industry areas. No body pays attention toward street light which remain on in the daytime. But when farmer stands up for their rights then every body start criticizing them. Why it is so? I have been observing it from last 7 days that almost urban residents have nothing to do with the farmer’s interests. I really disappointed with their behavior toward farmers who are staying in city from last seven days in such an unfriendly weather. I salute them for their democratic way in, which they are protesting. lakin is government ko kaun sikaye......... pata nahi kab to sehan karna padega aisi CM ko.....
Congress is also not doing justice with it's responsibilites, whatever have as a biggest opposition party in state. If congress would support the farmer, government may come into more pressure lakin unki to apni internal ladahiya hi katam nahi hoti to wo farmer ke bhale ki sochne ke liye time keha hai....

Hi Mukesh

For truly listening (i.e. understanding) to anyone, one needs to be able to emphathise. Your post here has got a lot of substance. Why not send it your CM and the local jaipur newspaper. Atleast somebody will read and emphathise just like it made me emphathise with the farmers. You never really know what may lead to the other. Your objections to mismanagement of electricity resources, bad governance system, may strike a chord in people's heads. In fact, since you thought about this issue in -depth as can be seen in your post, maybe you can start some activism in this field...think more about it...the more you think the more solutions might come to your mind and the more logical suggestions you might have to offer....maybe they wont be heard or implemented because of the political system we have....but what has ever been achieved by being negative.....maybe your suggestions will be heard and implemented....maybe you become a pioneer in solving rajasthan's water problems!

Best wishes
Priti

Kehne ko to Hamara desh ek Krishi Pradhan desh hai...lekin yahan krishkon(farmers) ki na to kabhi kisi ne suni hai aur na koi sunega...govt. jo promise karti hain woh kabhi hua hai...khaas kar kisano ke liye....sase jyada unka hee bewakoof banta hai...UP mein sugarcane growing farmers karj mein doobey hue hain...kyonki Govt. pehle to price achha nahin deti aur baaki sugar mill wale paisa dene mein delay karte rehtey hain...

I don't see any proposed improvements for them in the near future..

Dahiya sahab...sahi kehh rahe ho...lekin raastaa dekhai nahin de raha..Leader ki jaroorat hai jo sarkar ki akal seedhi kar sake...

If they don't cultivate even for one season, there can be a revolution in the country but they can't do it as they will be the first one to die of hunger. Sarkar ke haath mein chitt bhee hai aur patt bhee. Hamare dada, pad-dada yeh sab sehan karte karte mar gaye...lekin sarkar ki policies par kuch asar nahin hua. Ek BKU bani thee but it had it's own vested interests...kuch nahin kar payi.

Actually, every govt. when comes into power, state or central, says that they'll waive loans & electricity bills etc for farmers. But I am sure if they could guarantee good prices for their produce, farmers will have the potential to pay their electricity bills and loans. Jab farmers ko kuch milta hee nahin to woh kya dengey!

Navin Mere Bhai, Keha se lawoge wo kisan neta, ajtak jitne bi kisan neta huwe hai yaa phir hai, un sabi ki govt. se milibagat rehti hai.... ek hi chati-bhati ke bane huwe hai yeh sab... jab jee maie ata hai yeh kisan neta bechare bhole dhale kisanao ko dharna, andolan ke liye khada kar lete hai, and kisan bechare yeh sochte huwe tayar ho jate hai ki kya pata is behane kuch bala hi ho jayega......... lakin hota kuch nahi hai kyoki kisan neta apne
selfish motive ke liye apni jebe bhar lete hai, phir behar akar kisano se keh dete hai ki sarkar ne hamari mange man lee hai..... kisano ko becharo ko kya pata ki kaunsi mange man lee gai hai and kaunse nahi mani gai hai...... unko to pata jab chalta hai jab bijali ka bill ata hai..........
Inoceant farmers those were sitting on dharna at Jaipur have been cheated again by these so-called Kisan Neta. Keval ashwasan dekar chup kara diya and yeh kisan neta apne selfish motive ke liye in becharo bole dhale kisano ko itne din paresan kiya....... huwa kuch nahi.... there is no official declaration from the govt. to provide 8-10 hours light on affordable rates.

Self Help

My view is that nobody is going to help out the farmers.
I belong to a kisan family and I know only we can help ourselves.
I will quote a incident how in our village water problem has been resolved.
There was no water for about 400 hectare of land in our village,no tubelles could have been setup because of hard water.
So village elders made a plan started 6 tubewells 10 Kms away from that place and put the underground pipelines so that water could reach to that barren land.
Initially farmers have to make the investment but later on it was recovered and now we are able to harvest that land
I kinow things are not that simple in every case but I guess we should take some initiatives to get through our problems on our own

I agree Priya. We farmers have to join hands to solve many of these problems. I would be keen to give example of your village. Can you please let me know the name if its OK with you.

why do we listen

Really a matter of concern. Our farmers or lets say jats are so innocent that they fall trap to the politicians. Well my friends you all are educated and tell me how can one even implement this huge amount of money even if one wanted to. The sooner we realise the realistic of life the better we will be. The jats of Priya's village hats off to them were forward thinkers and manged their issue the right manner. If the govt. decides to implement what they say money has to come from somewhere and thats when they sit quite as there is none available to hand out. They know it in their minds but they are smart in playing the game of getting votes. Now if I remember correct the present CM of Rajasthan went on saying to jats that she was their bahu i could be wrong. We get carried away as we are to naive and innocent and go and give our valuable votes. You have no idea what goes on behind doors in the political circle it is a vicious circle. But I am glad to see that a good number of young men well educated are winners in the elections and it will take maybe another 10 years when you might see some light. And Mukesh my friend its a matter of economics and availability. If the power generated is not enough to meet the demand we can cry and nothing is going to be done. Maybe all the farmers get together pitch in the initial investment and build their own power plants they are privatised now. Dont you think this will be done faster if you can do it then turning to the politicians who will give the greatest lip talk you can imagine to make you feel good. Think on this line and see if you can do it set up a power plant of your own.
Coming to Priti's great suggestion yes one can do that but again its spinning wheels. Now remember you always need someone who will go with you take the pain to fight for you. There is an oppty. right now at your door steps.
I read it somewhere on the thread Mr. Deependar Hooda is standing for elections. He is educated youth and has to be brilliant to graduate from Kellogs business school. If i were you Mukesh my friend i would not even waste time. Take a good team of youth to his doorstep help him in his election camapagin. Mind you he doesnot need any as his father is CM today but there is always shortage of workers in elections. I am sure he will appreciate it and will become ears to your problems that they are looked in right prospective. go for it boys and girls as well help him. By the way i have never met Deependar so I am not advocating for him. It is an oppty. i see to take. We farmers need a sincere spokesman and he seems to be very levell headed boy as all the posts he contributed made sense. good luck and i hope the farmers get their due share.
