Our local issues are very much dependent on national issues being safeguarded.
Irrespective of one's political views, one will have to agree that right from village level to the central government level, pyramidal structure of units exists. Central government is at the top of this structure, and therefore, the smallest unit i.e. the States must be as strong in every sphere as possible to make the central executive strong.
The states must not be given a feeling/sense of step brotherly treatment by the centre. If that happens regional parties spring up to safeguard the rights of the people of the concerned states as has happened in different parts of the country. The regional parties have their own importance to keep upper most the interests of the people whom they represent and have been successfully playing role in the interest of their states as well as the nation.
Therefore, it is upto the voters to elect whom they want. As far as Haryana is concerned BJP has very meager presence as is clear from 4 MLAs in the current house and loosing the election on the previous occasion with over 70 % candidates forfeiting their security deposits. Even during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections which were contested on national issues and 'Modi Wave' they could secure lead on 53 assembly seats out of 90.
Therefore, in view of the local issues dominating the state elections and weakening of the Modi Wave in state election would definitely show its impact on the showing of the BJP in Haryana.
Congress which had not secured majority in 2009 elections had outmaneuvered HJC attempts to stall government formation by luring away 5 out of 6 MLAs of the party and added one BSP member's support to form the present government; in addition independents also joined it to give the government much needed stability. But the Congress MLAs were denied Ministerial berths and non MLA leaders and workers were denied much coveted posts as chairmen. The present government gave preference to Bureaucrats--both in service and retired-- to fill these posts .
Moreover, leaders in Hooda cabinet and out side government like Captain Ajay Yadav, Kiran Chaudhary, Savitri Jindal, Sheilja, Birendra Singh, Rao Inderjeet Singh, Ishawar Singh and so on left no stone upturned to defame the running of the government coupled with anti-incumbency has created a disenchantment for the party in the state.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections have further spread gloom on the party with 125 years of history.
The BSP won only one seat out of the ninety it contested in 2014. CPI/CPM score was nil.
This has left the field open for regional parties to emerge and play important role in the state.
INLD won 31 and its ally SAD one. It is second largest party in the Haryana Assembly.
HJC won 6 out of them five proved turn coats as they deserted the parent party to join Congress.
Thus the role of regional parties will have a very important impact on the election results of Haryana.
A few new and old regional parties are also trying to register their show during this election, too.
