Why I am not Active on Jatland

Dear Friends,

I used to be pretty active on Jatland, couple of years ago. Of late, I have taken a back seat. There is no specific reason for me to do that, but for other avenues to write. I would love to share my experience of life with my fellow community members, but time is the limitation.

I have got some emails from the administrators to be active on the forum, and I will try my best to fulfill that obligation. I do a program on radio asia for the community and you can listen to that program anywhere in the world on internet. The site is www.radioasiafm.com and my program is from 4 pm to 5 pm every Sunday (New York Time)

You can also email me at veeru_tav@yahoo.com

Sincerely

Colonel Sahab, Please continue doing what you are doing.these emails comes to everyone who does not login for some time in JL so nothing personnel from mods here.

Also, these are Automated. No personal touch.

This is bad. Users must be given the option to disable this setting. If someone's has abandoned Jatland for a shortlong/permanent duration for whatever reason ( Jatland De Addiction, focusing on Studies, Exam preparations, Concentrating on Job, indulging in family life, self exile etc). They shouldn't be forced upon by the Admin to log in .. by spamming their inbox's.

However, there should be a personal touch to bring back good old active members who have contributed immensely in the past. Jatland has been loosing such members from 2006.

" Jatland De Addiction, focusing on Studies, Exam preparations, Concentrating on Job, indulging in family life, self exile etc"

I may not be the right person however I guess in such cases members can ask for Self Ban . I have noticed many have done same .

Because Jatland doesn't give option for it's users to delete the account. Request for bann, is the only option, which is awkward (in eyes of other members when they check later their profiles, how come this good guy got banned, did he do anything wrong)

What i said is....Some setting should exist for users to perform their own. Like facebook, they have option to Deactivate their account temporarily (which offcourse will require RnD from JL admins) or delete the account. It should not be the interest of JL to just increase the member counter just for the heck of it.

Temporary deactivation and permanent deletion

In agreement , I once raised same concern .

In full agreement, except this part. Slight modification.

This will be rude and un deocratic. At that time some 4-5 automated reminders can be sent. And after a month or two it 'can' be deleted.

I see Neetu Sehrawat liking your post, she being a techie and mode herself.. can put this point forward to the higher ups in the chain of commands :-)

I think they cannot delete the account because that will delete all of the member's post and the discussion on the thread may look weird for the reader but he option to deactivate should be there.

"Right to be Forgotten" is a fundamental right. (Just like "Right to Bully"). If someone desires to have his entire data to be taken off from the web-site, his 'final wish' must be honoured on humanitarian grounds.
