Dear members, I wish to know from the esteemed people out here as to why some people only use abusive language to make a point? It is more interesting to note that such perverts bring in MOTHERS,SISTERS,DAUGHTERS and family members and hurl abuses full of filth and derogatory in nature. What i want to know is....What makes them to do so:

1] Poor upbringing
2] Poor education
3] Family tradition
4] Sick mind, which needs immidiate psycholigical treatment
5] Habitual perverts
6] They get sadistic pleasures
7] A secure feeling that they can not be established on the NET and can get away with their ill-concieved notion
8] Hatred
9] Lacking of guts
10] Infiriority complex
11] Escapism
12] They have not been treated well by the society in general.
13] Any other

Answer

Dear Sir,

ANSWER is
> Tradition to try to dominate over surrounding made our family tradition such that sometimes we saw our close relative & even parents using abusive language.

Because we used to live in cultivation areas where we invloved in fightings day in day out.

But I believe effectiveness of abusive language sounds very little & on the reverse side SOFT & CALM LANGUAGE make the person effective & make their point effective.

this is a strong issue

Hi Uncleji
You have brought a strong issue forward. I believe all these points mentioned here are strong to make anyone use bad language.

I would like to add to the point that "bad words and abusive language is like poison to the persons mind...poisoning him more and spoiling his personality and mind"

Dahiya Bhai,

Why are you seeing these slang's as abusive , if you make haryanvi devoid of these slang's then I don't think anything will be left in our language ,the slang's in our language show our machismo as jats always understood the language of iron and blood,You may be thinking that what orthodox thinking I am having but slang's are the real power of our language that makes it a masculine language.

Don't tatamount using slang's in a language to all disorders you mentioned above ,they are not paranoid's.

I feel so elevated whenever I speak haryanvi It is simply superb language and slang's provide us shortcuts for long sentences, we have to take the slang's in positive manner because it is our heritage and we have to conserve it, I feel very dis hearted whenever I see any jat bhai behaving as baniya we are not traders we are not here please any one.

One more thing because of the very nature of our language you can well point out a jat in million people that's makes the language different .

A language with Lot of Zen , Zest and Zeal its simply amazing I love it man.

Bhai kati asli jat to isa kam kara koni..........

well...dahiya ji...all reasons that u have mentioned do contribute in making one abusive...each applicable to one specific class of society...ppl brought up in an environment where abuses are common make one vulnerable to grow likewise...but everyone abuses(almost...but intensity and frequency varies)...be it the one who lives in slums or studies in topmost institutes...infact some abuses are becoming so common that ppl dont get offended if hurled at them.....wat i think y educated ppl abuse is that they wanna show that they are as earthy and tough as anebodyelse in the world...if one dunn abuse he is alienated a bit ....and how can i irritate one the most by minimal use of words...this is abuse....this conciseness makes it handy

Thes language is the mirror image of any person's real character. The language tell us everthing about a persons real nature in spite of the fact how that person behaves.

There are so many reasons as you mentioned above. But in my point of of view its psychological fact. They had an evvironment around them that they are the best in this world and if somebody challenge them about their ideas they just start abusing.

As someone said "If you can't argue, just abuse the plentiff".

Second thing is the family values, where their parents and teachers didn't taught them how a character should be maintained. They just learnt how to survive and try to dominate others by any means.

One more important aspect, psychologically, that they didn't get love from their family and hence they just spill out their anger abusing the (what you said) in frurstration and anger.

Maybe some more................................

It can't be generalized but vary from person to person.

Will write some more later about the psychology of these persons but the reason behind this is psychological for sure.

Re: 'cursing' and 'swearing' as opposed to 'abusing'

The context in which this post originated, I agree with all the reasonings. Dirty words does reflect very poorly on ones personality, culture etc.

but

the exact same words when used in an acceptable setting - to give an example, the 'college slang/lingo' does contain all of these words - can serve many positive purposes like - ice breaking, letting the steam off in a non-voilent fashion and being cool. In this seting these adjectives are used for objects as opposed to persons.

See: http://people.howstuffworks.com/swearing.htm

Most of us find the english f words less shocking than the hindi swear words because we have been brought up to consider the hindi words as taboo.

Dev Sir....You have raised a strong issue which really needs to be sorted out and at the earliest....as i dont need to mention what kind of discussions i was dragged into....and THAT TOO SOOOOO UNWILLINGLY....i have never been so rude in my life even to the housekeeping(lowest grade in company) boys and give lot of respect to all and i know that sometimes they can refuse to serve the MD/GM/Senior Managers....but not to be and thats because of the reason how i treat them....some times i get so frustrated and really wonder was it sensible to having known a forum JATLAND?

Being HUMOROUS is a different thing and being DIRTY is another....use of slangs is in all languages but mustn't leave a bitter taste in mouth. One can be HUMOROUS & STILL BE DECENT but one cant be DIRTY & BE DECENT at the same time.:)

Another reason for swearing

Dev sir,
Apka issue kaafi practical hai.We all must have seen jhuggis niwasi and their children.Another reason which i see to this problem is a person's company which he/she keeps and you are very to say that poor upbringing of a kid also makes him/her to do that.

I swear by the words to swear by

I run the risk of being branded as someone with poor upbringing, family tradition (?), sick mind with sado-masochistic inclinations nevertheless, I must admit I swear by the words to swear by.

It's not that I get down to business with each and everyone and start addressing them with the choicest of adjectives, however I unfailingly call some really close friends with a common noun, a which is second only to Saala in terms of usage and invariably follows it -- C*$#!A. One school thought doesn't even want to term it as a gaali.

The beauty of this swearword is that its a relative term and a great equaliser. If you are good you are ....., If you are bad you are ...... If you are rich you are ......, if you are poor you are ...... For the Hindus , Moslems are ....... and vice versa so on and so forth.

An all inclusive term, which can embrace whole humanity and even animal kingdom sometimes in its domain and I bet you cannot find an equally potent and effective counterpart of it in English.

Another confession, I must make is regarding my hobby which is to collect the swearwords in different languages. I can boast (Hmm there r some frowns) of being able to return compliments in 9 of the 18 official languages listed in India besides Japanese, Russian, Arabic, French, Spanish and ofcourse English on a global playing field.

On a more serious note, Gaalis are easy mode to vent out one's frustration and a potent weapon of the poor. Afterall a policemen can thrash a rickshaw wala any time but as soon as he's out of sight, the rickshaw wala can console himself by doing the Maa Behen of his perpetrator.
