The wedding ring is worn in the fourth finger (anamika), why ? There are some beautiful explanations given by the Chinese....
Thumb represents our parents;
Second (index) finger represents our siblings;
Middle finger represents ourself;
Fouth (ring or anamika) finger represents our life partner;
Fifth (little) finger represents our children
Now, open your palms face to face, bend the middle fingers and hold them together back to back; secondly open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb tip to tip.
Now try to separate your thumbs (representing your parents)..they will open because your parents are not destined to live with us life long, and have to leave us sooner or later;
Again join your thumbs and now separate the index fingers (representing siblings)..they will also open because our brother and sisters will have their own familes and will lead their own separate lives;
Join the index fingers again and now separate little fingers (representing children)..they will open too because the children will get married and settle down in their own lives;
Finally, join the little fingers and try to separate the ring (anamika) finger (representing our life partner) but can not be opened up because life-partner remain together all their lives through thick and thin !!
