Wipe out Bad Memories

Sometimes wonder that what would have been the shape of life if we had the option of <Ctrl+Z> in our life also. We would have erased all the bad memories and kept only the good one. Yesterday, came across an article in a paper according to which Scientists believe they could one day be able to create a drug to remove unhappy or embarrassing memories, from the death of a pet to childhood teasing or a failed love affair. They are developing a drug that dissolves a sheath around the amygdala, an organ in the brain where mammals store memories of fear.

Would life be better if we don;t have any bad memories or are they an integral part of it.......... ain't the scientist playing traunt with human brain?

Nice.. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

Once it is available (and affordable), i will try it.!! :D

i think, it should be better!!

Bad memories are nothing but a 'emotional pain'; for physical pain, ppl have been using a variety of drugs for a long long time and if there is nothing wrong in that then 'bad memory eraser' should be fine too!!

Shift Del will erase all the memories........ whereas Ctrl Z will undo the events that causes pain;)

As we can't cherish light without darkness, will it be possible to cherish the good things without experiening the bad things

first correction Sir......

to delete something u've to apply.....Ctrl+A, n then Ctrl+X :D

waise, these scientists are really playing with human brain.....but they doing for some betterment in one way as people are playing with emotions n character.....but if it become successful then where will the psychologists go......main to ek baar wo drug lene ke baad dubara jaaungi nahin inke paas :D......aise hi sab log karenge, after knowing the name of drug (ek dusre se hi pooch lenge...msg msg....hehehe).....so all great psychologists, think something...ur profession is in big danger :D;)

One click on a specific 'memory' (NOT the <Ctrl+A>) and then <Shift+Delete>. ;):D
Ctrl+Z only undo the most recent action!! :D

ummmm.... commit mistake (bad memory), feel pain momentarily and then get it erased. :D
Mistakes are unavoidable but at least we won't drag the burden of past.. Life should be rosy this way :D
Only problem that i see is.. we won't learn anything from those 'bad episodes' and hence chances of committing same mistake again and again!! :)

हे भगवान लागे सै sciencetists ने व दवाई बना ली दिखे सै.......;)
बेसिक कंप्यूटर functions भी भूलन लाग लिए आडे ते लोगबाग

All of us have done things in our lives we'd rather not have done things that flood us with remorse or pain or embarrassment whenever we call them to mind(it is generalised and not specific). If we could erase them from our memories......!!!!!! should we??
Someone said ''Going through difficult experiences is what life is all about; it's not all honey and roses,''

There is no man who has not at some period of his youth or life said things, or lived in a way the consciousness of which is so unpleasant to him in later life that he would be happly, if he could, expell it from his memory.

Why delete bad memories? Delete the bad future based on the experiance of bad memories or bad habbits! That can happen if you remember the outcome of bad things you have done in past. Lessons can only be learned by mistakes so why delete mistakes and its memories.

Life is all about good things and bad things. Both are integral part of life.

Not so easy to wipe it out. But if, scientists wants to help us then for sure I'll be in the appreciation list n will choose all the honey n roses :D;)

Difficulties ka idea le liya 28 saal ki umrr mein....aage kitni aane waali hain soch ke kai baar to ghabra jaati hun......Oh Lord!!...Save ur daughter.

We are discussing on this deletion of upset/bad memories.....what solution will come out? .....After one mistake, a new mistake took its place to teach us something new. Even we come to know abt the mistake only after it actually happens.

It can be dangerous as well. What if some 'related file' is also erased from Memory by mistake. For someone, their birth can be bad exeperience because their mother died while giving birth. Now, if this incident is erased from memory.how will he remember who gave him birth and how did he come into this world.Galati se koi aisi file delete ho gayi jo dimaag ko boot karti ho... bas fer aadmi kisi kaam ka nai... usko fekna padega garbage me.

off-topic but..... Do ppl have memory of their births ??

sunil not of their birth but one might listen from ppl later that his mother died while giving him birth. that means that person will alsways keep his birth as bad incident in mind. i dont think it is off topic. i am talking abt memory 'related to his birth' nd not 'memory at the time of birth'.

bhai Sunny, others telling you about something happened in past (as u proposed in you post: a woman dying giving birth) is not your memory!! u just know it, u didn't feel the pain (of loosing someone) at that time.
Regarding his/her birth being a 'bad incident' in his/her life: I am of the opinion that one doesn't miss the ppl he/she never met/saw.
I don't believe that it will be 'bad memory'.

Bad memory apart, how can a person doesn't miss his/her MOTHER?? Even if he/she never saw her??:confused:

And knowing something is also a part of memory. Memory stores something or other for you whether you remember it by doing your own deeds or someone else telling you something.
Can you know something which you don't remember (or which is not part of your memory)?
You know only those things that you remember, which are a part of your memory only.

There is guy named 'X', he has One brother named 'Y' (could have been two, another one named 'Z'; but due to some reasons for instance, abortion or miscarriage or some other problem, it was not meant to be that way)

Now, i have two questions:
1) does Mr.X miss his brother Mr. Z ???
2) If Mr. Y dies today, will Mr. X miss him tomorrow??

Okey some additional information:

Mr. X love for his brother Y is same as his love for his mother. agree??

So if Mr. X doesn't miss Mr. Z whom he never met/saw, how u can say that X will miss his mother whom he never saw??
And if you say that Mr. X does Miss Z then God bless us, everyone is in deep sorrow.. everyone has lost billions of brothers and sisters who were never born. :)

Love for mother is entirely different than what a person may have for his/her sibling. You simply can't compare apples to oranges. My question was specific to MOTHER only. I never said for a brother. Can a person forget the lady who gave him birth?? Even if she died still she was his mother. He is deprived of all the unconditional love of his mother. Maa se bada to koi nahi hota is sansar me bhai. jab wo dusron ki maaon ko apne bacho ko pyar karte hue dekhega to definitely uske dil me ye baat aayegi ki meri maa hoti to mujhe bhi aise pyar karti. Bhai or Maa ek jaise nahi hote. So your comparison of brotherly love to mother love sounds illogical to me at least.

Regarding bad memories, it is totally a personal front. You can't say that if one person reacts to a situation in one way then other will also do the same. Just e.g. if a player looses a final match he can take it either way, consstructive or destructive. It totally depends on his thinking. If he takes it in destructive manner he will definitely need this medicine for living life happily.
