Wipe out Bad Memories

Love for mother is entirely different than what a person may have for his/her sibling. You simply can't compare apples to oranges. My question was specific to MOTHER only. I never said for a brother.
Sibling love is as pure and pious as a mother's love. Never had an iota of doubt about that. :)
i did not compare oranges to apples. i compared the love for one family member with the love for another family member.
beats the hell out of me how and why u used the metaphor (oranges and apples)!! :)

Can a person forget the lady who gave him birth??
No, one can NOT forget; :D to forget somebody firstly u have have to know/see/met/feel her!! in this case question of forgetting doesn't arise at all! how one can remember the memories one never had!!

Even if she died still she was his mother. He is deprived of all the unconditional love of his mother. Maa se bada to koi nahi hota is sansar me bhai. jab wo dusron ki maaon ko apne bacho ko pyar karte hue dekhega to definitely uske dil me ye baat aayegi ki meri maa hoti to mujhe bhi aise pyar karti. Bhai or Maa ek jaise nahi hote.

Deepak bhaai, There is a difference between imagining the love one would have gotten and missing someone/somebody's love.

i don't know how u are taking the word 'missing', but original context (in first few posts) was in relation with longing for the 'memories'..something one had and then lost.
See, what an orphan thinks about the motherly love is not his 'memories', it is just his imagination. His vague idea... His imagination of inadequateness of emotional fulfillment... thats it!!
Do u think, u can explain what a 'motherly' love is (let alone making somebody feel 'it' )??
It is not something u can show somebody on projector or someone can get the 'idea' from others. It will be like telling a blind person how red color is different from green.

As u have already discarded the sibling theory, so i can't say that bhai aur maa ek jaise hi hota hain. but m again repeating if they are not 'ek jaise' then none of them is lesser than other!!

So your comparison of brotherly love to mother love sounds illogical to me at least.

Thats fair.. no issues!! At times i go nut over many 'logics' given by others. so, if u find my logic illogical.. thats logical only!! :D

Anyways we are drifting from the main topic!!

@topic: yaah, life will be better off by erasing some bad memories. :D

Insaan ko Insaan he rehney do, Machine mat banaokee uskee feeling hee khatam ho jai.

Memories are our trresue good or bed no matter. Most of the bed memories give us some good lessons. If something bad happened with us we learn so many things from that bad incident till we die.

" Agar bura khatam ho jayga to achchey kee importance khatam ho jaigee"

Its good for any treatment but not to general public I belive.

yes sunny but is it easy to forget mother even if the mother died during child birth.
bad memories are often related with some lessons learnt in life.i would never want to erase bad memories in my life.some how they are as precious as the gud ones to me.
sunil not of their birth but one might listen from ppl later that his mother died while giving him birth. that means that person will alsways keep his birth as bad incident in mind. i dont think it is off topic. i am talking abt memory 'related to his birth' nd not 'memory at the time of birth'.

I personally dont like the idea. I dont want to wipe off anything, however good or bad, that's been part of my life.
hmm, in an unusual way, upon its availability and unprecedented success it can lead to ridiculous addiction, at least in India. Imagine situations that can possibly be seen as bad memories. For a schoolkid scoring second highest marks in class in prev term. "Oh no, I cudnt finish first, its a bad memory.. whr's that tablet? Gimme one!". For a young guy discovering a girl with moustaches on a blind date. "Holy $*it, I want to forget it. Whr's that tab? gimme 1."............and for other insignificant issues resulting in the whole world gulping tablets.

However, this drug must still be invented for those on jatland.com who perform humanitarian deeds (holier than any हवन) by posting links to 'already posted' threads. We are in desperate need to wipe out their memories.
Wipe out Bad Memories

I've got the same views. Very well written bro.
There is no man who has not at some period of his youth or life said things, or lived in a way the consciousness of which is so unpleasant to him in later life that he would be happly, if he could, expell it from his memory.

Why delete bad memories? Delete the bad future based on the experiance of bad memories or bad habbits! That can happen if you remember the outcome of bad things you have done in past. Lessons can only be learned by mistakes so why delete mistakes and its memories.

Life is all about good things and bad things. Both are integral part of life
.

bilcool aayegi. but imho, that's not 'missing mother'....... that's 'craving/longing for a mother' knowing it'll never be fulfilled.
Ya Sunil, right.

Edited- jst finished reading Sunil's post so quoting part of his post too.
jab wo dusron ki maaon ko apne bacho ko pyar karte hue dekhega to definitely uske dil me ye baat aayegi ki meri maa hoti to mujhe bhi aise pyar karti.

It can be dangerous as well. What if some 'related file' is also erased from Memory by mistake. For someone, their birth can be bad exeperience because their mother died while giving birth. Now, if this incident is erased from memory.how will he remember who gave him birth and how did he come into this world.Galati se koi aisi file delete ho gayi jo dimaag ko boot karti ho... bas fer aadmi kisi kaam ka nai... usko fekna padega garbage me.

Agreed with Sunil Lathwal.....but the concern highlighted is very funny :D

Neelam, Ctrl+A करके डिलीट करोगे तो सारी जिंदगानी उड़ जागी.

Abhimanyu ji maine bad memories ko saamne rakha hai....fir Ctrl+A apply kiya hai :D (baat bad memories ki hui hai issliye maine sirf bad ko consider karke kaha tha)

waise aapke tareeke se socho to bada funny lag raha hai :D

u mean <Shift+Delete>

Bad memories are nothing but a 'emotional pain'; for physical pain, ppl have been using a variety of drugs for a long long time and if there is nothing wrong in that then 'bad memory eraser' should be fine too!!

matlab simple delte kar doge tai key chaala ho jaaga , katiii naamo nishaan mitane hain , at least recycle bin mein to daal do :)

Anyways , not really sure how a physicist thinks that it will be better. After all it is all about the frame of reference.

(-20,20) is as good as (0,40) , is not it? :)

Hope you got what i intended !

PS: kitne hi lambe post link lo sunil babu :D, kapil ko nahi hara sakte :o:mad:

No, its not!! Unfortunatley life is not just the area under the curve. Certain things we always wish to forget (at least i do and i know i will be better off w/o those).
Take a simple analogy, physical pain.. nobody would like to live with a constant migraine!! i agree there is a bit of logical fallacy here; no way one can learn if one's normal health is as 'normal' as someone else..
who knows may be i am living with some sort of 'pain' continuously but i don't 'feel' it because i've never been better than this. so, my 'normal' may not be a 'normal' for you. :)
what i mean is: Your '0' may not be my '0' but my 20 will be better than my 0. and -20 worse than 0.
once -20 is wiped out, i'll brood over something else may be '-0.001'. :D
good thing is i'll be still having my '20'. :D
So, it is NOT shifting the reference point; It is more like deleting a erroneous data point which will results in a overall Goodness of Fit. ;)

Anyways, i have already mentioned the inherent problem with the proposed idea (quoted below).

we won't learn anything from those 'bad episodes' and hence chances of committing same mistake again and again!!

PS: kitne hi lambe post link lo sunil babu :D, kapil ko nahi hara sakte

bhaai Anile, Kapil te yo 'essays' likhan ka 'batten' tera e diya hod hai. :(

P.S. watch the movie, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Its brilliant.

Pain is not your problem; numbness is your problem....
When the doctor operates, he gives you an injection to numb your body, so that when he cuts, you cannot feel the pain. If you cannot feel the pain, the pain is not there, because pain is in the feeling.
When the doctor cuts your body you may be thinking that you have pain but that you are not feeling it because of the injection. Wrong! -- because pain is in the feeling. If you are not feeling pain, then pain is not there. It cannot exist without your feeling; there is no way for it to exist. The doctor has made your body numb. The nervous system has gone insensitive so it can be cut. It is just as when a person is paralysed and a mosquito goes on biting his foot. He will not feel it because he is paralysed. That part of the body is no more alive. Whether a mosquito or a scorpion or a beautiful flower is there, it will make no difference to him.

Numbness means that you have somehow learned not to feel pain and not to feel pleasure. Many people learn it because it is very protective.

Pleasure is also a danger. It overtakes you, possesses you. It may lead vou astray. It is the same with pain, and it creates much anguish.

Many people have by and by become insensitive; they stop feeling. Nothing can bother them -- they are neither worried about pleasure or pain. They may even look a little more independent than other people because they are completely cut from the flow of life.
You have learned a certain numbness and that has to be melted down....

You have to break it down completely so you start feeling pain and pleasure again. Life is pain and pleasure. Of course there is something beyond too, but not below.
many people have tried, to numb their bodies by sitting for a long time in the hot or cold. By and by their bodies become insensitive and they think that this indicates that they have transcended pleasure and pain, but in fact they haven't; they have fallen below both.

When you go beyond it is not that you become numb. You go beyond because you are so alert and sensitive. Because you are alert you are not caught in the trap of pain and pleasure; you go beyond. You become a witness. Now bliss arises in your being. But you are very sensitive; more sensitive than other people.

No yoga ashram will allow sensitivity groups because a yoga ashram exists just on the opposite polarity! They are trying somehow to numb your being, to dull your sensitivity; to make you dullards.

Allow pain -- it is beautiful. To feel pain is beautiful because then you feel alive. A corpse cannot feel pain, only an alive body. So become alive again; don't carry the corpse

Be spontaneous. Never act out of the past; always act out of the present moment. This moment is all there is. If you respond from this moment, you respond from your reality.
Flow with the moment Stream with the moment, and allow the moment to take possession of you, whatsoever the cost. And you will never be a loser because more and more life will become possible to you

The feeling will start becoming aroused again and you will become a child again.
That's what being spontaneous means -- to be a child again. And much is going to happen...

As per my understanding _this_ drug won't _filter_ memories.
[ it would be great if they can invent such ]

So, after _every_ other action you'll be thinking should I delete it (memory) or keep it.
( it'll require you to take _this_ drug again & again )

*Just a thought*

Would you be able to delete others' memories.
What if others don't let you forget what you have erased.
( Sure some 'll try and you 'll suffer exactly similar to one
who lost his/her memory ... or may be not ...
aah to me it seems like a _loop_ )

I would say _filter_ memories yourself ...

paying attention means empowering it...feeding it..so dont try too hard to "delete" bad memories..
n yes..theres no drug for happiness..n i used to think why people r on anti-depressants..its futile..but the pill ends in removing pain..

so if u r born happy..n once the pain is gone..the pill ends up makin u happy...

If you don't want to _remove_ love , then neither you can _remove_ pain / sadness .
