Tabb Tak
My dear Shailendra,
The print media and lately the Electronic media is full of the stories published from time to time [and are being published still] of the human right violation. This disease is as old as our civilization[if ican call it civilization] There is nothing one can do to eliminate these cruelities till such times we have men made boundaries ,hatred for one another, Greed to dominate this planet, Might is right attitude and Dubious state policies. All nations are the culprits without exception and as such there is hardly anything which can be done in this regard because the hatred has become the bone of STATE POLICY and not the SECURITY CONCERNS[which used to be] and as such it is not easy to monitor being a very sensitive matter, connected to the top secret blade of the Broader State defence policy of various states. Tears will dry up but these violations are here to stay. Only thing you and me can do is...PRAY FOR RAM RAJYA?

You know reading your response Col Malik (and thanks for taking so much time to elaborate on it...this is really mind boggling for me)...reading it made me remember that documentary not so long ago where they showed this woman (wife of one the supposed POW's in some Pakistani Jail) crying and shaking that old newspaper photograph infront of the camera or for anyone who cared to see... that old tattered picture of some supposed ceremony in some non-discript Pakistani Jail there that had by luck captured the face of one of the prisoners among a small crowd photographed. The face that according to her, even when she had first seen it was unmistakenly that of her husband!
Can you imagine what these next of kin most be going thru? Everyday... Imagine the pain that must tug at the heart strings everytime they would think of their Husbands, Son's...brother's ....friends, in their old age now langushing in a remote jail, in a far land....probably senseless and crazy by now....forgotten hero's that had at some point worn the Indian armed forces uniform with pride and had decided to sacrifice the best period of their lives for the country....least expecting to sacrifice even their old age and mental capabilities...also at the cost of being forgotten from the minds of their own countrymen forever too!
Oh yeah, so we are a billion or more populated country now, so who really cares for some 40-50 odd old crazy people anyways....that is the pathetic part of this whole scenario really!
We talk about being the most quickest advancing nation, but imagine we don't even have the b***s to go free ourn own soldiers even after so long!!! (65' and 71' guys! Geez!)...
Being the son of an ex-army Colonel myself, it just sends shivers and makes my blood boil on this frustration...
And then these recent articles!... (from Tribune that you included) ...Is there no one who can put an end to this madness? What is the government doing when supposedly they too know this is a fact? Can't they in a big show of good-will and bonhomie, offer to mutually exchange all these POW's now...even now....better late then never...simply because those war's are long over and done with!!!?!!!
