Padam Ahlawat is former Editor Haryana Gazetteers Revenue Department Government of Haryana Chandigarh. His articles, middles and book reviews were published in the newspaper The Tribune Chandigarh. His grandfather Subedar Major Kehri Singh of Dighal village served in trenches during the First World War in France . He was granted 100 acres of land at Lyalpur, now in Pakistan and made Sub Registrar and Magistrate at Rohtak. After partion for 100 acres land left in Pakistan he was given 60 acres in village Dujana, Jhajjar . His father Lt. Colonel Hukam Singh Ahlawat served in the Second World War in Burma with the 14th Army as a young officer receiving The Burma Star. Lieutenant Hukam Singh Ahlawat of Jat Regiment served with the 14th Army in Assam and Burma from 1942-45. He took part in the Battle of Kohima and Battle of Imphal in 1944. General Slim, commanding 14th Army lured the Japanese Genaral Mutaguchi commanding 65,000 Japanese soldiers and 20,000 soldiers of INA into the plains of Imphal and the Japanese suffered decisive defeat. The Japanese suffered 30,000 killed and 23,000 wounded while the British Indian Army suffered 12,500 killed. The Japanese retreated completely out of Burma. Padam Ahlawat was educated at Welham Boy's School, Dehra Dun in 1955 and 1956 and later went to Sherwood College Nainital from 1962 to 1966 completing ISC in 1966. He was selected to the National Defense Academy in 1966 but due to being under weight could not join NDA. He is a postgraduate with MA in History Himachal University and MA English Literature Punjab University, Chandigarh and Bachelor of Journalism from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He joined the Haryana Gazetteers, Financial Commissioner Revenue's Office, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh in 1979 as Research Officer / Assistant Editor. He assisted in writing of several District Gazetteers. For several years his articles, editorial, middles and book reviews were published in The Tribune the daily newspaper from Chandigarh. Married to Raj Ahlawat, they have two sons. Manit Ahlawat has done B.Tech. from IIT Delhi, CFA and Masters in Financial Engineering World Quant University USA. Samit Ahlawat has done B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and MS from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign USA. He has patents registered and articles published in US Financial Journals. He has authored the book, Reinforcement Learning for Finance.
