History
In Ramayana
Ayodhya Kanda/Canto LXXI mentions Bharat's Return from Kekaya to Ayodhya..... Having halted min Sarvatirtha village and having crossed Uttamika river and various other rivers by mountain -ponies and reaching Hast prasthaka village, Bharata crossed Kutika river and traversed Kapivati river at Lohitya village. After crossing Sthanumati river at Ekasala village and Gomati river at Vinata village, he took rest at a grove of Sala trees at Kulinga city as the horses were very much tired and then proceeded quickly.
विनत
विनत (AS, p.859): वाल्मीकि रामायण, अयोध्या काण्ड 71,16 के अनुसार गोमती नदी के तट पर स्थित एक नगर जहाँ केकय देश से अयोध्या आते समय भरत ने इस नदी को पार किया था- 'एकसाले स्थाणुमती विनते गोमती नदीम्, कलिंगनगरे चापि प्राप्य सालवनं तदा।' यह स्थान सम्भवत: वर्तमान लखनऊ के निकट स्थित रहा होगा। [2]
