Aapne suna hoga ki "Marriages are made in heaven" ... or jo cheej sawarg main bane .. use hila pana yah tod pana toh khud bhagwaan ke haath main bhi nahin hota ! Per Why today marriages are like flowers .. fresh for sometime ... then finished ! And Why it was different in our mom dad times..
They are still doing well in that relationship ? Yeh Bandhan kachha kyun hota ja raha hai ???

I dont think so that 'marriage' is like a "flower" as mentioned! Ya, it can be said that the present times is witnessing many a fading relationships, but the institution of marriage is still a strong one, atleast in Indian context! There r quite a many resasons as to why its not like it used to be in our mom dads time!I will be discussing this but now need to go...............

ravi bhai aaj kal marriages hote kahan hai compromise hote hai
jab tak conditions both parties ke liye satisfactory rehti hai
to shaadi apne mom dad ke time se bhi jyada majje se chalti hai

only because of less comitment more expectations

Now peoples are not committed with each other. Most of the peoples are interested in high class professenels and they are unable to copup with. Most of the time people marry with unmatched partner only because of dowery or status and then feel unhappy.

earlier there were no interaction/little interaction between boys and girsl. Girls and boys were having little knowledge about the habbit/nature about the spouse. After marriage, what ever comes to the knowledge of boy/girl about the nature of each other, she/he will accept and adjust keeping in view that ye aisa he hoga/hogi. Level of adjustment was high.

Now, there is more interection because of internet/mobile/personal meetings etc. Now boy or girl claim to know everything about their partner before marriage. But there are certain things whicm might have not disclosed by boy/girl. After marriage when these concealed things come out, it hurts boy/girl and they think why this was not told erlier. This way level of adjustment disappear.

sahi kaho ho punia saab
pehle shaadi ke baad do teen saal to
ek dusre ko jaan ne me challe jaate the
fir sab settle ho jaata tha
aaj kal shaadi ke baat karne ko baate to hoti nahi to
ladde enge hi naaa fir

Nowadays both lack compromise/ adjustment to situations/ moral values/tolerance and sense of responsibilty which leads to break-up

just ONE reason-- EXPECTATIONS...
its d biggest culprit n spells doom on marriage
so guys,,let ur respective spouses breathe........respect their personal space n dont try too hard--unless its both ways.

Ma'am jee kare aapkey CHARAAN pakadd lyu....diyo kimme maukka sa:p But yes you're right to some extent;)

Irony.................

Marriages, as of now are a well planned deals generally! ........ so how can it be expected to smell fresh and serene! Arriving at a so called 'Suitable Matrimonial Alliance' has become a wholetime tricky work! The match has to be good looking, professionally educated of course, working surely, well to do yeah etc etc.............& the list knows no bounds.......... janam janam ka saath..............aise judta hai kya!

Na......... thats why, the marriages come & go but a person still lives single all his life in a way!! Its an irony........... but is becoming a truth in many a cases.............

bandhan kachha nahi hota ja raha log kachhe hote ja rahe hai aur kachhi hoti ja rahi hai values.

no way most of the time we do not get what we deserve pannu .i disagree with u on thisquote=vivekpannu;141205]Agreed.But I suppose not only on marriages but on any relation.
We dont always get what we want but we get what we deserve[/quote]

I also disagree on this Deserving point:p i never got what i deserved....and still striving for that and i'm determined either i'll get what i deserve or i'm better deprived off;)

Let me summarize it:
In old times, the marriages were arranged and their basis was trust and truth.

Today, even if it is an arranged marriage, the basis is white lies not only from parents but from boys and girls as well. And you know, truth can't be hidden for long..

If you like to share, care and protect and give --- Marry
If you wish to possess, rule and dominate --- Dont Marry (Get a dog maybe)

If marriage cannot give you happiness, it doesnot matter whether it lasts or not. Why drag a dead dog?

I and Khushi care for each other and each others happiness. Period, full stop. Nothing else matters.

Marriage becomes meaningless the day you stop caring.

In past times and now too i see so many marriages which ve become meaningless but continue just bcoz of social and family pressure. In past, marriages used to last more bcoz of social and family pressure and not bcoz of more compatibility/understanding.
After spending long times together a bond develops between even the uncompatible pairs and they start caring. It might also be a case of 'if not she/him where will i go'
But i have seen so many spoilt but surviving marriages which ve become a pain for the two partners. They conspire against each other, fight all the time and mess up the life of the kids. Should such a marriage get a medal for surviving. No way!
In todays scenario, people hurry out of relationships too. Now that also is a mistake.
The basic features could be-
1. understanding and acceptance for other persons needs, desires, feelings and emotions (after all you have yours)
2. influencing, manipulating, dominating, deliberately should be banned.
3. dont involve too many people in your marriage. In-laws, out-laws and all. Do your duty towards them but they are NOT part of decision making in your relationship.
4. focus on your work and what you wanna do.
Some people may trash my opinion based on my lack of experience (only 3yrs) but the success of our marriage is -in 3 yrs no issue between us has gone out of our room. There have been differences(we like different soft drinks, she likes fanta and i like thums up) but no fights and no heated arguments at all. We enjoy each others company and the long drives and outings as much. We have not needed 'space'(a commonly used word these days)
:)
My earlier response was a strong one coz i was upset with a 'conspiring against each other' kind of marriage in my vicinity in which kids were also being used in the conspiracy part. I really wish people wouldnot act so foolish.

I came through this quote once...

"Marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner."

But now its upto you, how you consider the balance, as compromise, commitment or care for each other. You can make heaven or hell at home, it all depends upon your conviction.
