I think earlier women didn't have that much say in the household and they didn't have any choice as they couldn't even think of leaving their husband. Most women didn't work or weren't educated enough to support themselves. That coupled with the fact that society did not accept divorced women left them no choice but to compromise. To say they were all happy and all marriages in our parents days were successful is reaching a little bit.

I do agree that there was a lot more patience and ability to compromise which is no longer the case today. When you have options you are less likely to put up with stuff.

:) Great thought: firstly during mom dad's time it's we who feel everything was cosy but every coin has other side to it . yes, offcourse we want to see marriages as flowers ......... but y and as one of the co jatlander said it is compromise i thing thts wht we doin in every aspect of life .Adjustment is best way to make success as i know there is nothing existing as love ,so if someone feels marriage is all about tht one might be mistaken . it again a learning for which periodical exams are taken by unknown . and ur percentage counts on ur effort ...............................:)

Well i would just like to add,
just as u said, not all adjustments are bad! This is the one which can be an exotic experience, no doubt it depends on case to case! Sometimes a human cherishes giving more than getting! Isnt it?
