what about intercaste marriage?

I think the commonality of culture, language,
religion, social and economic background is a good practical argument
for marrying within the caste/community. I think it is best to find
a partner with a similar background.

At the same time, when one falls in love, nothing else is really
going to make sense. Yaa bimari cheez hi aise hai. It's probably
best to just go with your feelings. And if the couple doesn't have to
live in close association with the traditional community, then
it should be quite manageable. So, for modern day, educated professionals,
it won't be too big a deal. Of course, in some cases, even when living thousands
of miles from your home, it is often the case that your social circle
is primarily built of members of your community...in which case, differences
in languages, attitudes, even food habits, can result in difficulty in
really fitting in for the "outside" spouse. We do see that quite a bit.
But love must surely weigh heavier than these considerations.

Personally, I do not think that young people of marriageable age
are really mature enough to know and understand love. For that matter, I
think its a hard thing to understand and figure out at any age, let alone
your 20s. But try telling that to lovesick individuals! You just can't win
against pulsating hearts.

Having said all that I think all these arguments for or against intercaste
marriage are secondary and tertiary arguments. The primary issue is way more
basic, and lies in the deep primal instincts to safeguard our resources.

Women are a resource. Not a whole lot different from land, water,
and, yes Priti, even cattle. Its not hip and sexy to say that, but if you
dig deep enough, that is what it is all about.

We men have waged battles and fought wars for perhaps hundreds and thousands
of years over resources. The victors have taken the women of the losers
and made them their own. We'd kill the men, but take back the women.
This sort of behaviour is also prevalent in the animal kingdom.

Yes, modern day life isn't medieval battlegrounds, but the basic
human instinct is deeply embedded. Deep down inside, we men can't bear the
thought of our own women being taken by an "outsider". It hurts.
At the same time, when our men bring in an "outsider" (especially when that
outsider is considered a "catch"), it can actually be seen as "cool".

Jib ko desan kisse gore gailan dikhe sae, tae by god ji sa jale sae. "What
a bit*h" is the voice inside. Lekin jib ko desi kisse gori gailan ho sae tae
its "beta pure thaath ley ra sae"!

Hypocritical? You bet! Welcome to the real world. That's just the way
our biology works. And its universal. The so called modern and western societies
are no different. Under the very thin veneer of liberal and open society lies
the same primal reflexes.

So if anyone thinks that we can overcome our attitudes over inter-caste,
inter-religious, inter-race marriages anytime soon, well...wishful thinking.

Our associations determine the resources which we see as ours.

As long as we associate with a caste, inter-caste marriages will be an issue.
As long as we associate with a religion, inter-religion marriages will be
an issue. As for race, well good luck getting over that.

So, lesson of the day? Go with what you feel is good for you. Forget
about changing the rest of the world. It ain't changing anytime soon.

And finally, for all the wonderful Jatnis who take exception
at being called a resource, or who feel strangulated by the
clanish attitude of their counterparts:

Ji, yoh saara rolla thaari baabbut eh tae sae. Thaare bina mahara
jina ki kaam ka: key nahana, key dhaadi banana, key Jat hoven ki
pipni bajana. Thare-eh tae mahara jeen ka maqsad poora ho sae. Thari
baabut tae hum dafter mein baith, saare kaam chod ke thaare tae mithi-2
baat karan sae. Apney dostan nae chod ke thari gailan bogus "family picture"
dekhan tahin tayar rhe sain.

Eeb itna hoye paache bhi tam humne chod ke bhala kyukar kite ja sako so.
Hai na Ji?

Toh yahan mollud Jaton ki baaton ka bura nahin maann-na. Yoh saara
rolla thaari baabut eh sae.

Now this is really talking some sense out of saga of verbal disagreements.Good Post Sir!

Morever, women dnt belong to a particular man or caste or race, either they belong to all men or they dnt....Let them decide to whom they want to belong.

As time has changed & the present environment is totally different now. Intercaste marriages are so common . I need to know the opinion of ONLINE jats about intercase marriage. It is a fact that JATs are deeply rooted to their customs & traditions. but the circumstances can change the thinking...........
I am really excited to get know the opinion of the JATs about this. Please
tell your views about intercaste marriage.

Caste is an artificial segregation that came about during the dark age of India. Its a virus that deserves to be quarantined at the earliest.

Marry where you want............ Respect the value syatem of your 'sasuraal'

Agree on that!!!!

Don't you all think it's a very individual, or family matter to decide whether marry intra or intercaste....!!!
I do not feel that it's an issue where need to bring social reforms and hence to argue so much.

I have refraiend to post in this thread for long time but Dr. Neelam has said exactly what I have to say in this discussion. This is a private affair and it should be left alone for concerned individuals.
Only thing concerned is the new environment in which one has to adapt but let the individual decide about it.

What a misleading philosophy Kadyan sahab!!!! I must appreciate your pseudo intellectualism! Either women belong to all men or they don't!! Should a woman belong to all men...... Rethink the state this world will be in..... A Man is not made to get a woman.... Rather a Man belongs to a Woman... to his mother....

Words reaching out of bounds.... Let the intercaste marriages prevail... As long as a family does not have problems..... Why should we have a problem in someone's personal matter??

Who likes advice? Me? You? No one..... So better save words for self.... And let the world move on...... Genetically Intercaste Marriages are the best prosthetic to ills.... Panacea to all ills prevailing in a particular caste you see!!

Cheers!!

Shobhit Deshwal.

Yeah! you have said rightly that We shud have not any problem in anyone's personal matter.Love is a very personal matter to the extent of one's existence.Just addding in your statement of intercast marriages..

Lets LOVE prevails. For many it can be a matter of discussing, for few its a matter of LIVING.(Giving a kick to moral policing)

I'm conservative (liberal-conservative, ok centrist), but couldn't digest this one either, although there is some *natural truth* to it.

Should I say this is politically, socially and huwomanly (ok, humanly -:), incorrect.

Too Strange

Hi Samar

Though I wanted to remain away because of unnecessary zeal that turns personal in these discussion but these observation are too strange to avoid..

I wanted to know whether all these women Who Say we are also Proud Jatnis or Jattis really confused about their identity? Is the term Jatni or jatti is really a myth ?

If so than why to restrict it only for women, what rationale for this gender differentiation why not man too,And identity Jat (male) should equally be a myth vice verse .

Looks that gap between Jat and rest of the world is bridging up fast.

Hello Mr Narinder,
Even not considering their proud(which ofcourse is not due to intracaste marriage) is a myth itself.A jat is not a caste, its a character, a personality.I see more of it in their rebellion attitude rather than yours conservative and radical one(pardon me for my words, I know you that way.No offence intended).
Like if a Jat male marries to a non jat female, she is being accepted as Jatni, then according to you it must be true n accepted vice-versa.
Sooner or later,Gap is going to bridge for sure,me or you might not be present to endorse it.I do not want to challange natural things, because nature has its way bridge several gaps(and It did for several things). But If possible, I would love to be a catalyst in it.

Arguments aparts..Enjoy this :)

Is Duniya mein Har koi Pucche, teri Jaat hai kya?
Mai bolu, bhai jaat-paat ka koi roop na dekha,
Sunnat karke hua musalman, nari ka kon vidhan,
Bahman pith janaeu dhare,Bahmani ki bhai kya pahchan.?

Individual Choice..

I also totally agree to this...that it is TOTALLY individual matter and the whole decision should be left on idividual's preference.

Its a way of life

To be Jat is a way of life, and not a matter of genes. So, one can be one or can cease to be one.

Hahaha...!

I m also repeating my words...

Shhadi chaahe kisi doosre planet ke praani se ho par parents ke khilaaf naa ho...bas.

Marriages r made in Heaven but solomnized on earth

Love is beautiful - If your intercaste marriage is successful.

Love is blind- If your intercaste marriage is unsuccessful.

Unlike the arranged matches intercaste marriages comes with packages of
misunderstandings, risks, and loneliness. Although everything may seem to
be in your favor when you start the journey but when you reach in the
middle of sea or even before that most of the people tend to realize
that they have taken very immature step.Although marriages are never free from the clutches of culture and traditions where the couples prefer to differ during the later stages of marriage.
The first probable thing which every couple encounters is resistance from parents so when the problems start arising they dont have options rather than to resort to prevailing in their marital life. Its then most of the couples realize that indeed they should have listened to their parents advices. As there is a popular saying "Wise learns from others mistakes and fools learn theirs own." SO you want to be a fool or wise its upto you.:)

i m really perplexed after comparing the title name and inside description...as par ur say if marriages are made in heaven..means smthing is already prefixed...u are trying to interelate it with destiny...how smone can go beyond it........it's a love or arrange it is already decided....we are not the one to change it anyhow............is it not so?

.
Arey Bhai Prashant - congratulations for this thread of yours which is beating records. But bhai, koyi Jatni mili ak nahin? hahaha - kidding :)

By the way, you are lucky that you belong to Baraut. In Haryana, the situation is stated to be really bad - Jat boys are bringing brides from remote places like Kerala and Jharkhand, thanks to badly shaped sex ratio in the State ! Caste equations have become secondary in such a situation. One Tau was heard saying "Bhai, inko to lugai chaahiye, koyi bhi ho, kahin ki bhi. Chhodi huyi (divorced) bhi chaalegi". ..hahaha :)

Main intercate marrige ke khilaf nahin hoon. Par ek baat kah sakti hoon ke intercaste marrige kam kaamyab hoti hain. Isaka matlab ye nahin hai ki apni caste main ki hui shadi kaamyab hona jaroori hai. Par intercaste marrige or apni caste main shaadi ke baad ki problems alag alag tarike ki hoti hain. Phle to dono ek duste ke liye sab kurbaaniyan karne ko tiyaar rahte hain or shaadi ke baad dono ek dusre se yahi chahte hain ki kurbaani dusra de. Intercaste shaadi kamyaab na hone ka ek kaaran ye bhi hota hai ki hum jis maahol main or jin reeti rivajon ke beech bachpan se pale bade hain unko shaadi ke baad chodna mushkil hota hai , yahan tak ki khaan paan main bhi frq hota hai , sunne main ye baatein lagti to bahut choti hain par baad main yahi choti choti baatein badi ladai ka roop le leti hain or kitna bhi kuch na karo tum rahoge paraaye hi unlogon ke beech ye dono traf se hota hai. Phir inhin choti choti baaton ko lekar ek doosre ke khoon lak ko gaali di jaati hai ki tera to khoon hi esa hai or teri to jaat (Caste) hi esi hai . Maine ese bahut se case dekhe hain. ISILIYE JAHAN TAK HO SAKE SHADI APNI HI CASTE MAIN KARNI CHAHIYE NIBHANE MAIN AASANI HOTI HAI. Or jahan tak ye pyar vyar ki baat hai ye sab bakwas hai thode din ka bukhar hota hai .
shadi ke baad wale pyar main jo attoot bandhan hai vo pahle pyar karke shadi wale pyar main nahin hai. Pehle to ek doosre ke liye marne ke liye taiyaar rahte hain or shaadi ke baad ek doosre ko maarne or kadam kadam par neecha dikhane ke liye tiyaar rahte hain ek bhi moka haath se nahin jaane dete.
Agar kisi ko meri baaton se chot pahunchi ho to maaf karna.

kya kaamna ji

pyar ke khilaf itna nahi hona chahiye. though we should try to get married as per our parents choice, try 4 arranged marriage Lekin mera maanna hai ki jis ladki ko tum bilkul nahi jaante or dekhi tak nahi hai, uske character ka nahi pata kaisa hai, sirf kisi ki baaton pe bharosa karke vishwas karna ...
Isse badi murakhata kya hogi. Mere vichar se pyar mein andhe na hokar apne ho sakne wale saathi ko hame achhi tarah jan pehchan lena chahiye
before marriage apne circle mein achhe ladka ya ladki ko doondhana chahiye
kul milakar apne jeevan saathi ke baare mein jaankari jarur honi chahiye pata nahi arranged marriage mein kaun gale bandh jaye kaisa character ho
u should believe in good relations
